View Full Version : Discovery: Crew Endurance vs. Time Compression

I made a small discovery...

Endurance(fatigue) and at what TC level it sets in is linked the 3Drender= setting in main.cfg.

So for example, if you set 3drender=4, then 8x and above will NOT affect your crew endurance (freezes it)... this works if you also set this value higher (at 3drender=64 then endurance effects will not be calculated at 128X and higher...

However, what you set 3drender to will determine the maximum TC you can use when not on the Navigation Map.

Don't know if this is usefull in anyway to anyone else (I tend to play at lower TC levels most of the time) but I did find it interesting...

Very interesting, Skweetis! :know:

Thanks,

Good to know. That's a much better way to adjust for one's playstyle than adjusting all the figures in Basic.cfg.

For myself, and my own style of play, I actually enjoy maintaining my crew...

I usually (not always though, I am prone to impatinece! :) ) play at no higher than 64x tc for the "boring" parts of the patrol (roughly an hour per minute, so three days game time works out to just over an hour) but I was always stuck for something to do during that time (watching my uboat creep slowly along its course is only mildly entertaining)

I wanted to be able to maintain my crew at this TC, but it always defaulted back to 32x when I went to the crew screen (I found that to be a little too slow)

So when I found this out regarding TC and 3drender, i have since modified the vanilla "fatiguestep" to 1/3 their normal values to facilitate longer shifts, and thus gives me something to do during patrols, moving crew around every 4-5 minutes or so (with a green crew) at 64x TC

Keeps me busy, like a mini-game, and passes the time when I have no contacts to hunt...

suits my style of play, but probably not everyone elses!

Now, if I had an SDK to work with........

Skweetis,

So, I understood that if you set your 3drender=64 than when you go to crew screen you also are at 64 and this will affect your crew endurance. Is it possible to set the crew screen to a value that not affect your crew fatigue?

Unfortunately, no. It seems that 3drender is a global setting for every screen/view except the nav map...

So if you set 3d render to 64, your maximum TC for all views/screens but the nav map is 64, and endurance is affected up to this TC
