ich habe mir ein kleines Tool geschrieben, mit dem man Sonar-Frequenzen (Sonar-Profiles) filtern und suchen kann. Vielleicht hat ja jemand Interesse dran...

Ha ha a chance to use my limited college German of 25+ years ago:

I have SC and not DW, but nice of you to share. With SCX the DB is so big that checking through profiles can be a pain. :)

Just tried it, nice tool.
Lets you search by country, class, specific frequencies, units, tpk, you name it.

By the way, what's the use of the "Tol." field?

I just tried it. Cool tool.

It seems you must have imported the DW database into the tool. Would be nice if it could be pointed to a database on the disk and work with SC and/or SC/SCXIIc. :)

Did you write it in C or VB? If you wrote it in VB could I have a look at the source code. As I was thinking that it would be easy to put in a display at the bottom with the sonar lines. Drawn in with code.

It would be nice if when you entered freq derived from the NB that they did not have to be exact numerical matches (but near matches with a tolerance). Since while you are analyzing the developing signature, the frequencies derived are not that precise.

How about F1 - F5 entered as pairs: F2.low, F2.high as a range. Thus, 480, 520. If you wanted an exact match, then you could still just input two identical numbers.

Wow nice tool.

Only thing id like to see would be a reference of the Active sonar freqencies emited. So you can see whats pinging you.

Very nice. I'm guessing Tol. is tolerance. Looks like he was way ahead of you. Very smooth the adjustable tolerance. I'm thinking this is going to be better than the web based ship database I have been using.

Well depends on the info you have and what you are looking for.

First I filter if I need. You can look for a certain country. I've been leaving that blank. The next one I use often. Filter for Subs or Skimmers etc. Click set filter button.

Next if you are doing a DEMON or something you can filter by unit say if you have a visual or ESM ID, or by blades. Click find. Bingo you can see you TPK. not to mention the freqs you should be seeing. I don't use this a lot either.

The meat is the find sonar profile section. First clear the other areas, well maybe you will still filter by sub/surface but I doubt any others. Next figure out how many Hz of tolerance you want. Otherwise if you type 49 in the first box lets say you won't get any hits. It is very hard to get the freq right on so I usually set this between 3 and 8.

Okay next start entering the freqs you have. If it is a towed array contact you probably have the first 1 or 2. For a non-US sub 50 for the first and 125 for the second. Press find. Now the list will only show platforms with 50 and 125 Hz Tonals. So you see right off that you need the next freq that should be 320/340/360 to further classify. You also see that any of them you will see are either 7tpk or 10tpk. Not that you will ever get them on BB to use DEMON :know: :ping:

H. Liebe has released an updated version of his Sonar Profile Search Tool. You can grab it either here (http://www.ubootflotte.de/download/spiele/dw/dw-soundprofile.exe) or at the CADC in this (http://www.orionwarrior.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3961) thread.

Changes in this version :
- Display for the Sonar Frequency lines from the Seawolf and 688 in the tool.
- Bugfixing

Outlook on future versions ... H.Liebe is looking at using the DW Db as resource instead of keeping the information in the tool, which would mean that the tool is useful even when you are using mods. And he is looking at displaying USNI Data along with the matching Sonar Profile, that way you know how dangerous your potential target is.

Those numbers match what I've seen before but I haven't been able to figure out how to access the db files (even with instruction!) to see if it's changed.

Thanks for the info. I notified Lars (H.Liebe) of this and he fixed it and uploaded the correct version on his server. I'm going to update the CADC link now.
