Hi,
This is the new 1.44 release of the Friendly Harbour Traffic mod:
Changes in this 1.44 release:
1. AI uboats traffic with correct entry dates for more realistic purposes. Now the AI VIIc entry date is the same of the unmodded game VIIC uboat. Thanks JBClark!
2. A spawn bug correction on ALL enemy ports in the stock game! (So, no more burning ships in enemy ports I hope!)
3. A new full revision on the dates (entrys and exits) to all units on the mod for a more historical approach.
4. More reduction on traffic/warships to reflect the poor germany naval forces in late war. Thanks Egan!
5. No more DDs as a escort ship in late war. Armed Trawlers are making the job to reflect the week germany navy force after 1943/44. Thanks again Egan!
6. La Spezia and Bergen spawn bug corrected. Thanks Hitch, thanks Sixx_killer!
7. New dat file for AI VIIc uboat. Thanks "FLB sale U-999" and of course you Sergei!
8. Include the "More Useful F1 Help Screen" mod. See the readme.
9. New Rub 1.42 compatible SCR layer is included with this version. Look in the ...data\campaigns\campaign folder. Just rename the desire file to "Campaign_SCR.mis".
The great Operations mod is coming. Now is time to play the game after 2 or 3 months of the hard work with the traffic stuff. It's time to take a better look in all these great mods here in this community. So, many thanks to tommyk and Nilas for the first step on the traffic (where are you guys?). Thanks to Sergei "sergbuto" for his great work on AI uboats. Thanks to Beery, Shadow9216, Sixx_Killer, Catfish and The Avon Lady for their comments and support and for all you guys that have post feedbacks and use the mod.
To Install:
Unzip in MODS folder (JSGME ready) and install it. (There are a version without minefields and subnets in the campaigns\campaign folder, just rename it).

Changes in version 1.43:
1. AI uboats traffic. Now you will see anothers uboats docked, living the port or arriving from a patrol.(No more that dial gauges bug!)
2. French/british ships before and after germany forces in french harbours.
3. Subnets are back and without that annoying sound bug!
4. A correction on Scapa and Loch Ewe - this is a SH3 1.4b stock campaign spawn bug. (So, no more burning ships there I hope!)

Known issues:
1. Only two types of AI uboat are ready for now. A IIA and VIIC type. Some people will asking me about why only a few AI uboats are in the traffic. It's for two reasons: first if you have a lot of units your FPS drops a lot, second if you have a large amount of traffic the AI evasion maneuvers becoming erratic. But, please, let's do a more discussion on this stuff here in this topic.
2. The IIA uboat type are usefull only for near harbours patrols or for instructions purposes after 1940/41. Then they have only these functions on the mod too.
3. AI uboats don't have crew on watch tower, don't move while submerge and don't fire torpedos. But they follow waypoints in surface and engage enemys with deck/flack guns.They only have a early war tower too.
4. So, if you install this mod then you will have the Sergei's AI uboats on your submarines folder too. Then it's easy to do some wolfpacks missions at night with mission editor...
5. To stop that annoying sound bug related to the subnets I only lower the "Collision_AntiSubmarineNet_int.wav" sound file. This is good for all of us because even if you don't use the traffic mod the subnets (and this sound bug) still will be there in the stock campaign (enemy ports).
6. If somebody makes a new realistic escort ship then I will replace the DDs ( for escort job) to have more historical accuracy.
7. Later I will add a complete Bismarck presence in this mod. Please if you have informations or a work around with this stuff please post here to be discuss and add in the (near) next release. It's my actual work with Sixx_Killer!
8. The friendly air patrols will not be there when you arrive few days/weeks later. This is a SH3 bug, no fix until now. If you save a game while you are in port then when you reload the friendly air patrol also will be not there anymore. The airplanes are not well implemented in SH3.
9. If you go to close of your escort the AI evasion "suicidal" maneuvers will be lead it aground. Then it's better to keep a safe distance (~450 to 1500m).
10. When you return days/weeks later sometimes you see a burning or over the harbour structure ships. It's about that "moving docked ships" bug. No fix until now.
11. Friendly air patrols and latest years allied air attacks on ports are also in this mod. The air attacks are more realistic and with more historical accuracy with B24's esquadrons dropping bombs in one pass and in high altitude. The stand alone mod is not compatible with Jace's Airpower because Jace's mod modifies the AI of B24's ( no more dropping bombs) but it still will work. (The Rub compatible version don't have these scripted air attacks, so, no problem here).
12. If you play with minefields & subnets then follow your escort (DD or Armed Trawler) until they turn and return, mark that point and when you arrive, some days later, await your escort to guide you into the harbour.
13. This mod adds a ~350 new units, then if you notice some strange behaviour please contact me.
14. This mod is only compatible with the stock campaign with patch 1.4b. It's compatible with RUb 1.42 too. See the version release changes above.
15. I hope that the next release will be only about SCR layer again, then no more this heavy file for download.

Hey Rubini,
thanks for the harbour traffic again ! It is always great to leave port seeing those fellow U-boats, the traffic sure adds a lot of immersion.
I'm sure together with the new RUB (where it hopefully will be compatible with, if not included later?) this will almost be a new game. Good times ahead !

I won't be able to install it right away because I'm in mid patrol.
Currently running HT Mod v1.43. When I left my base in Kiel, half a dozen ships had plowed into the shore banks a kilometer or 2 outside of the harbor to the N-NE. Very messy!

Rubini - I've just read text at "more useful help screen" of your mod and I saw some historical mistakes (in my opinion):
1. Free French didn't start war at 01.01.1939, but at 1940, after disaster of France and gen. de Gaulle declaration of war;
2. Poland (my fatherland) started war with Germany first of all allied countries, at 01.09.1939, not 02.09.;
3. I don't know why in this text end of war with Germany for Poland or Britain or US is 25.08.1945 and Norway and Netherlands is 31.12.1945 instead of 08.05.1945.
Idea is good of course, I like it.

That's great! Harbor traffic has become one of my favorite mods. I have started a patrol with the type XXI at least a half-dozen times already. Everytime I start it and save, it seems a new mod or update is released. Looks like I will have to start the patrol again. :P :rotfl: :rock:

Well done Rubini, the traffic reduction was the right thing to do.
What a pity that their are no more german ships in the game, like minesweepers, torpedo-boats and other small vessels.
It´s a shame. This game is so weel done in some parts, but lacks so bad in others. :nope:
Even the Sharnhorst class BC´s are missing. :damn:
if i could afford, i´d buy the game-code and give it to you modders, than i´d hire those romanian guys again (the have mad a outstanding job!!) and together you could made the perfect subsim. But it´s just a dream...

I just started a new career in Kiel. This is my first time out of their in this career. My patrol began on Sep. 1, 1940. Again, this is with version 1.43 of your mod, with the RUb support file installed.

Strange, i left Kiel without recognizing any bugs or strange ship behavior. (Jan 1940)
I use Jason´s RND file (24.7) and your SCR (1.44).
Also i saw no bugs with harbour traffic 1.43 on the patrols before with one exeption: If you save game during leaving the harbour and reload, the ai becomes confused and strange things happens. Planes are crashing and ships are beaching...I think it`s neither a mod problem than a general ai issue.

If you're referring to Jason's Improved Convoys mod, I have that, too.

You are right Gammel, I made some test and these strange bug are there only if you reload a previous saved game when you are leaving the harbour. I never had seen this before (coincidence?) and I think that is a SH3 AI bug like the save/load bug of the planes what I notice since version 1.40 of this mod. :hmm:

I`m pretty sure it`s a general game issue and has nothing to do with your mod.
For sure i can say that the strange behavior after save/reload has nothing to to with the "submarine-extension"
you and serbuto made to the mod, cause i recognized it with the very first release of harbour traffic.
Wasn´t there a similar save/reload "feature" in sh2 too? :-j

Uff...thanks for the information, I really hope that the Ai uboats presence has nothing to do with this bug. I'm at my work now and later I will make the test anyway. BTW, I don't remember if SH2 have a save/reload bug. :hmm:

It was only one Polish squadron in The Battle of Atlantic - 304 Bomber Sqn. from 15 Group of Coastal Command (304 Dywizjon Bombowy Ziemi Śląskiej im. Księcia J. Poniatowskiego). His unit codes were NZ (during duty for Bomber Command) and QD in Coastal Command. Squadron destroyed two u-boots (U-321 and U-441, but last times attack on U-441 was revised)
Squadron was equipped from 1942 with Vickers Wellington Mk. X, XIII and XIV.
I'll try to seek for you some photos or drawings of planes from this squadron.

Yes, I think that is good for Greece for now. Shadow9216 are making a new work with this stuff, then perhaps we will change or adds more information on the F1 help screen in the near future.

joea, Shadow and Rubini - 28.10.1940 is start date for war between Italy and Greece (it was first day of Italian invasion from Albania), not for Germany vs. Greece. In my opinion correct historical date for war between Germany and Greece is 06.04.1941 (this day Germans attacked Greece and crossed borders).
In SH3 we have 13.11.1940 as start date. Like I wrote some posts earlier I don't know anything about this date. I think that we should acknowledge one of these dates for our work:
1. 28.10.1940 (Italian invasion);
2. 13.11.1940 (SH3 start date);
3. 13.12.1940 (Hitler signed Operation "Marita")
4. 06.04.1941 (German invasion).

Try to find out when the U-boats were given instructions that Greek shipping could be attacked. Even if the German army was not involved in operations the navy might have been allowed to.

joea - your idea is good, but I can't find it.
I didn't find anything else than 28.10.1940 (Italian invasion) or 06.04.1941 (German invasion). I looked for it on Greek Navy site, many Kriegsmarine sites and books. I really don't know if uboots could sink Greek ships before 06.04.1941.

I think that we must leave the date for Greece as it is for now. This way is not necessary to mod the defside.cfg. Later when Shadow makes his new defside we go on and debate this stuff again.

Hi guys,
After a lot of tests with the save/reload bug and after a discussion with Beery and other guys this is the conclusion about this issue:
The SH3 game don't save the waypoints for the scripted ships or planes near the player's uboat. :down: :down: :down:
Then when you reload all the scripted ships and planes near the player's uboat go aground in minutes! It's not related with traffic mod or other mods. It is a stock SH3 big fault.
Obviously this is a major problem for the areas more populates like friendly and enemy harbours,Gibraltar, the British coast, scripted convoys, etc.
So, for now the only possible thing to do is warning the players to don't save a game while in the friendly or enemy harbours or even when you see a scripted contact in the map.
Please post feedbacks about this issue.

Your info about SH3 save/reload bug is interesting. Ubisoft isn't going to release new patch for SH3 - how to repair it? Is it possible for modders?

first of all lot of thanks for your awesome mod!!
Now i'm currently play with 1.44 release of the Friendly Harbour Traffic mod and until now it working fine with no CTD.
By the way you should take a look at Reykiavik port (Iceland) : during my last patrol i've forced the harbour and after sinked a Coastal cargo , i've put my boat on the next target to find that a Coastal merchant is totally "half buried" iat the middle in the concrete of the wharf!

p.s. can you add some UBoat appearing in the sub pen bunkers or another Uboat at anchor side by side in the basin?

Thanks for the feedback.
My mod only modify the departure's harbours. So, this is a SH3 default Campaign_SCR bug. By the way, I intend to do a deep rework on enemy ports soon ( perhaps for the next release). :up:
Edit***: in the next release I will add some new uboats. But different harbours have different traffic, so, already exist some uboat at subpen or side by side in somewhere in the traffic mod.

Thanks for the post. I hope that later today I will conclude and post a new version of the traffic mod with great news on it:
1. New ports with traffic: Danzing, Hamburg and Trondheim with Bismarck, Tirpitz, Prinz Eugen and Admiral Hipper docked in the correct dates!
2. Bismarck, Prinz Eugen and Tirpitz in trial trips and in Operations action like Iceland Convoy PQ-12, Operation Rheinübung, The Battle of the Denmark Strait and Bismarck Final Battle. All these events will have radio calls to players uboat!
So, in the last days I only read and see things about Bismarck...

I was looking for any infos about Greek merchants sinked before Italian invasion and German invasion. I found only this facts:
1. U-37 sinked "Trasyvoulos" at October 1939;
2. U-47 sinked "Georgios Kyrikiades" at 30.06.1940;
3. U-48 sinked "Alexandros" at 14.09.1940.
I didn't found any webs about orders for uboots from BdU and I don't know date of permission for sinking Greek ships.
