View Full Version : Landmarks
I've been adding some new static locations (Paris, Warsaw, Berlin...) to the maps. File should be in /data/terrain/locations.cfg
It doesn't change a thing to gameplay or realism, but I think it's just nicer that way.
A current working copy can be found via web-cvs here :

Good idea; the default map is a bit sparse. Do you know what the "Heading" value is for? Also, in what color do the cities' names appear?
Heading is used to place a gfx on the location of the city. I think it's not used when there is no "FileName" attached to it.
All the static named locations will always appear in black. They are not linked to the WWII timeline (defside.cfg)
I'ld like to know if the names are translated from one version of SH3 to another. i.e: do the people who bought the Germain game have the german names of the cities ?
You meen something like this?

That shot is taken from the mission editor of loacations we added to Locations cfg. They will not appear in the game unless you also add a Naval base land unit (Found in the editor under, 'land'
Adding the naval bases results in the In-Game map looking thus:

Unless a port land unit is placed on top of a tile from the Locations cfg it will not show up in game.

Interesting...I was hoping some mod might appear some time soon with some new ports and locations. Only thing I'm upset about, the Firth of Forth is a sea-inlet, not a location as listed in SH3...And Rosyth doesn't have an 'e' on the end :D, but I'm still glad you included it Egan.

The screen shot is an old one. Rosyth is in it as it should be and a pile of locations that should not have been there at all have been relplaced or removed (No more Firth of Clyde ot Forth and a few other changes.)
