Hehe I'm starting to get a big headache from air units (helecopters and fighter jets). Is there not any way to take one down in neuclear sims. U-boats had had AA guns to deal with them (well kind of deal with them). Is there not some missile to blow the bastards out of the sky. Or am i just looking at it completely wrong and should just be trying to aviod them. If this is the case  it would seem im missing something about it because they always manage to drog torpedos within a few hundred yards of me. Though i generaly move it layer lower depths so I can check esm and radio when needed. Is it easier to aviod them at high depths? If anyone could offer any advice on the whole thing I would greatly appriciate it, doesnt seem like aircraft should be the bane of subs, pretty sure im just doing something wrong  .

Well if evason fails there is the Manpad missile (Stinger/SA-N-8) launcher in the sail (F9).

Yeah speaking of which. If im playing SC is there anything you can do against air platforms. Hehe i have never suckessfuly evaded a air dropped torp in SC. I accualy cant beat the second to last mission in the akula campaign due to one godforsaken helecopter. Since alot of the campaign missions force you to work in shallow waters the thing almost always picks me up and if it drops a torp theres no way to get away without cavitating which makes the damn thing fly circles around me like a gnat and makes the torp lock on almost instantly. :damn: I have alot of built up anger toward that one stupid helocopter, i just want to see it explode and know the little sim people inside are dead and will never bother me again. But then there is also a airbase near by :damn: :damn: :damn:
Any tricks to dealing with them in SC you guys know about.

I was playing the one Kilo single mission where you have to rescue scientists or something by getting within a certain distance to the building and releasing the special forces (I forget the name of the mission). There are three barriers you must get through - a P3 search zone, a mine field, and an active search zone pinged by a destroyer. I was nearing the end of the P3 search zone. I was deep and wasn't paying attention. I inadvertently ran aground. I'm sure the P3 had to of picked that up. The rumbling wouldn't stop! I tried backing up and going forward while ordering a shallower depth. My sub wasn't budging. I also managed to rack up a 35% damage, too. I ordered blow all tanks. I bobbed to the surface like a cork. I quickly went to the bridge and brought up the SAM. There was the P3 flying off to port. I acquired and fired the SAM. The missile brought it down! I quickly submerged again and continued on with the mission. This time I payed more attention to the ocean bottom.  :damn:

Hmm, I believe the solution to dealing with air units in Sub Command, is to buy Dangerous Waters.

If you cannot beat them, join them... ;)

Hehe may just have to do that, seems more and more things are pointing in that direction. May accualy have to buy this one in stores (ordered SC online and recieved it late and damaged so that kind of sucked).

I figure I'll wait for the next patch and/or DWX. I'm still too attached to SCU though, that'll be missed, but hopefully SCS will give us just a few more platforms some time down the road. <crosses fingers>
