Its also hosted here at subsim. I'll just point out though, that AI active and passive sonar only work to 300 meters. Beyond that, you become invisible to him.

Yes, Ducimus, but will depend on the values you adjust with the TT's Crush Depth mod.
I think so only 2 subs can go bellow that valu, type VII and XXI, remember the game modelates only one type VII, i adjust type VIIC values for all them.
Any way, with TT's Mini Tweaker, the max depth of the active and pasive sonars can be adjusted to reach more depth.

Well, as depth goes, im a depth hound, i love diving deep, so ive experimented with deep diving in all subs. TT's crush depth tool puts a "govener" so to speak on what subs you can make go real deep. With his tweaker however, you can bypass that and make them go as deep as you want.
Now i have experimented with making the max depth of AI passive and active sonar. (because i didnt want to go deep , and "cheat" the games AI") Unfortunatly i just couldnt get it to work. The AI behaved rather strangly and the Elites in the U505 mission were so far off the mark it was laughable. Mabye in my modding i input an incorrect value, but im more inclined to think that the sonar "cone" was designed to be a certain way, and when you change its dimensions (IE adjust max depth), wierd things happen. If anyones had sucess in this id love to hear about it.

Yes, but sugested depth was taked from many fonts, Uboat.net, Unterseebootwaffen etc...
I think so TT's toll was a need, because the crush depth from the box was not real, but any way, Tt's tool do not let you to adjust any depth, it has a max limit.

I use crash dive depth, 70m and eventually 120m...... i must to be in a too dangerous situation to go to 150 or 200m, never under these values.
Why for ? Because damages are so strong under 100m.
A damage which let you to survive at 70m kills you at 150m.
Any way, i know you are right, in real life they go as depper as they can.

The only problem i remember was reported when you increase sub max depth, was depth charges was not so precises.
In my personal case i dont experienced this fact, they are so lethal at any depth.
I made no test increasing sensors max depth, really i dont know how it can change behaviour.
What exactly "wierd thing" do you experienced increasing sensor max depth ?
