I always disliked the inaccuracy of US subs having 20mm cannons from the start and the .50 cal MG conspicuously absent from stock. Of course it was modded in and I have always meant to add it to TMO. I worked on it yesterday and thought I had it correct, but it did not work, the 20mm still showing up.


Sending out an SOS so don't waste a bunch of time. Anyone have instructions or willing to provide them? Thanks in advance

check out the date intervals or availability dates. Ubi uses different field names for the same function...

in no particular order:

\Data\UPCData\UPCUnitsData\UpgradePacks.upc
\Data\UPCData\UPCUnitsData\Weapons.upc
\Data\UPCData\UPCUnitsData\Ammunition.upc
\Data\UPCData\Submarine\Subname.upc look in the UpgradePack Section...normally appears after the Crewmember Slots

Only attempted it on the Sargo to start. Not showing up at all. Plan to do on Sargo, Salmon, Porpoise, Tambor/Gar, and Gato once have it figured out. I'd like to get the double .50 cal mount, I believe it was in RFB or RSRD, don't recall, will have to search but the single is fine for now.

I attempted to replace the 20mm single with the .50 cal mg from June 1941-June 01 1942, it make it the default AA gun.

The gun is broken in Stock... CapnScurvy fixed it for FotRSU, but I do not remember what it was... very possibly the ammunition. I do know that it uses the 20mm shell (there is no real 50cal shell) in FotRSU, but there were other configuration issues with the gun, that I am not remembering... As KM mentions, check the gun itself, and its sim to find the ammo link. Don't forget to check the dates of availability. Check the UpgradePacks for the proper "build" of the gun, and it's availability dates. The gun's "upgrade" is actually assigned in the UPCUnitsData UnitParts#Boat.upc file, such as UnitParts1Gato.upc file. All guns you want available have to be listed for all conns throughout the file, else they do not show. Copy and paste is your friend there... :salute:

in Stock 1.5, Sargo does not have a 50 cal, so you would have to figure out how to add one to the UPC and then manipulate the availability dates in the other files and PB and i mentioned in our posts.

FOTRSU has a 50 cal so you might want to see how they did it.

So if for testing purposes I want it on the Sargo only, it won't show unless I have it set up on the other boats as well? Did I read that properly?


While no real 50cal shell, 20mm AP is a sufficient simulation vs the 20mm HE no?

so...what seems to be the barrier to success?
is the weapon just not available with the Sargo?

TMo is structured different than some examples I'm looking at in other mods, just a little confused as I thought I had it added properly. Trying to figure out what I missed.

i loaded it to a new Stock 1.5 installation.
started a career from Manila with a Sargo.
the 50 cal. was the default flak weapon.
started the next mission.
the 50 cal. was present and it fired.

I have not had a chance to test it yet as I had to uninstall mods and SH 4, reinstall. I suppose all the add/removes via JSGME corrupted some files.

Lol well at least it showed up but that makes no sense to me as nothing with engines.

Did you say stock, not TMO BH 2.0? That could be the issue.

yes, plain, old, vanilla, Stock v1.5.

i do not have TMO_BH 2.0.

Yes. 2.0 has been out since 2022, check the first page of the thread .

I am working on update for it, tentatively titled V2.1

*Update*

Got the .50 call working on the Sargo. Problem is with the "bathtub" its useless as a manually controlled weapon against surface craft. Anyway to increase the height of the weapon?

i have not installed TMO_BH on my new laptop as i am awaiting the release of v2.1.

v2.0 hates me and constantly yields CTDs. so...i watch and wait and try to help the next version come to life. :03:

seriously, the work performed on the 50 cal. and Sargo does not seem to depend on v2.1 to work, however, in reviewing the Sargo.upc, i noticed that you are using unique names for the engines and they probably do not match up with their counterparts in the Zones file. i think you need to send me the Zones.Cfg you are using.

No engine issues on my end. I noticed parts were renamed, I assume by ducimus in original TMO. Not sure whats behind the CTD in V2.0. I'm working to resolve.

it appears as if the problem is solved.
so....what is changed when comparing the files you zipped vs the default set of files in ver2.0?
