When people talk about great Guitarists, I'm always surprised David Gimour of Pink Floyd or Robin Trower are rarely mentioned. This is a 1974 Appearance on TV in the U.K on the BBC Network of a young Robin Trower and Bassist / Vocalist James Dewar and Drummer Reg Isidore. James had a soulful, smokey blues vocal style that fit perfectly with Robin Trower's playing.

Hi Robert, Yep.....a lot of closure ( about time...). 14 years of my life I won't get back, ruined health, old age. But now I got a lot of free time....I should be doing important stuff....but I end up "wasting time" with a few very good friends :)

A good friend owned one ( a 2 ton underpowered "tank"....but hey it was a Mercedes :up: ) I was the chauffeur., and it was very enlightening as to how the other drivers treated you. No one gave you right of way, or let you into a break in traffic. You could see them mouthing "rich c..." etc......Now I don't even have a skateboard .

I Have been following Ellen's Career and playing ability for some time now. Ellen's dad is a musician and no doubt, they have played together for a while. Ellen also came to the attention of Guitar virtuoso Steve Vai who invited Ellen to his home Studio. They have also jammed together in Concert.

This is Ellen playing the Bass line from Peter Gabriel's song, Sledgehammer. Ellen has fantastic Pitch control and articulation. Ellen plays the Bass Guitar more like a lead Guitar. Of special note is that Ellen is playing a 5 string, Fret less bass Guitar. Renowned Bass Guitarist Jaco Pastorius played a fretless Bass as well. What amazes me is that she is already a professional Bass Player and she clearly loves what she is doing.

A great song.....but I wish someone would reedit the video clip. Cut out all the Control Booth footage and colour footage and just have Diana singing and doing "The Pony" ?, "Soul Train" wise. She looks real good with the wig and boots.

I'd never noted the relatively low number of views, but MiuMiu has a strong following (including me) on YT; I found her very early on when I saw a mention of her in a guitar posting; here is the video of her at 6 years of age...

She generated a lot of interest in the guitar world and in the world in general; particularly during the Covid lockdown, musicians worldwide made videos based on the above video where they virtually dueted with MiuMiu; some musicians even sent her guitars, and other gifts; her father is a music teacher and seems to have made an effort to help her talent while also just letting her be just a regular kid; there was one occasion when she was awarded a YT honor for her videos and her parents posted a video of her going to a postal center to retrieve the award; it was also, IIRC, her birthday and she was also going to get some other gifts sent to her; even though she was getting that YT award, she was most thrilled to be getting a Barbie doll; her parents have done a great job in not only supporting her talent, but, also, keeping her well grounded...

MiuMiu just recently turned 11 years old and still, occasionally posts videos and her YT channel is worth a look...

This video is her showing she can really shred, even at the age of 6...

Stjepan Hauser has done much to keep Classical music alive and as a viable art form. I have never seen anyone play with more precision or feeling. Stjepan is a Croatian Cellist. Stjepian moved to the U.K where he finished studies at Trinity College of Music in London. Stjepan completed his postgraduate studies with Ralph Kirshbaum as a Dorothy Stone Scholar at Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. He also studied with Bernard Greenhouse in the U.S. This is the best version of this timeless piece of music that I have ever heard. The ladies playing with him are beautiful too. :yep: :D

Shifting gears - Stevie ray Vaughan was lost in a Helicopter crash August 27, 1990. For Blues aficionado's, blues music would never be the same. Stevie was only 35 when he was lost. Stevie helped usher in Guitar Virtuoso's like Bonnie Raitt and made blues music safe for players like Robert Cray and Buddy Guy and others. It's reasonable to believe that Stevie hadn't even come close to reaching the Pinnacle of his Guitar playing or artistry.

Tommy Katona is trying to keep that legacy alive. Tommy's vocal abilities along with his Guitar playing is evocative of Stevie himself. Here is Tommy and his band, Texas Flood at the Bartonville Store, about 35 northwest of Dallas Texas. If you close your eyes and listen, you can hear Stevie Ray, so close are Tommy's Guitar playing chops and vocals. It's great to see everyone dancing and having a good time in the video.

Thanks Sean. I'm glad you like the song. Eisenwurst got the ball rolling on this one. Eisenwurst posted about Miumiu Guitargirl in post # 541. Miumiu was 6 in the video but had command of a number of Instruments, especially Guitar.

Vienna followed up on that by posting in post # 545 of Miumiu playing and covering the Neil Zaza song - I'm Alright. Miumiu did a fantastic job on that and Vienna had said her dad was a music teacher and obviously taught her well. However, I think it's obvious she has natural talent. So, props to the both of them for making us aware of MiuMiu and also this song.

By the way, I agree the headstock on that guitar is terrible. Then again, I think Neil could play a cereal box with a stick attached and rubber bands for strings and make it sound good. :yep: I'm used to the Head stocks on my Fender and Ibanez Electric Guitars so, I'm a bit biased. :yep:

An interesting and amazing aspect of both the above cuts is they were live, single take backing tracks; in Eddie Hazel's case, the original studio take did include some other instruments/musicians, but Eddie's work was so pure, the producer decide the couple of extra tracks were unnecessary; in Jimi's case, the only overdubs were Jimi's spoken bits; the is a post on YT of the raw track without the overdubs and with Hendrix having fun recording the spoken bits with his producer...

If anyone could make a statue dance, it would have been Bo; I saw him live several times and the last time was when he was part of of free summer lunchtime concert series that was an annual event in Downtown LA for several years; it was a hellishly hot day and Bo was performing on an outdoor stage on a lawn adjacent to a swimming pool on an upper level of a major hotel; the crowd was mainly the nearby office workers, lawyers, accountants, bankers, etc., and they were in their well done up office attire, not very conducive to rocking out, Bo came out on stage, revved up that Diddley Beat and the suits were up and dancing around in no time; I wondered at the time how some of them were going to explain their disheveled, sweaty appearances when they returned to their offices...

When I last saw Bo Diddley perform live, it was some 40 years after the clip below, but he was just as energetic and dynamic as he was nearly 4 decades earlier...

Recorded in 1958, this theme would still be usable in modern film/TV and sound just as fresh; the true genius of Henry Mancini was his ability to match his compositions to the feel of the media for which he was writing; when Mancini was approached by his longtime film collaborator Blake Edwards, to compose an opening theme for a new detective TV series Edwards was writing producing and directing (his first effort in TV), Mancini came up with this theme, which perfectly suited and encapsulated the sophisticated Noir tone of the series; recorded at the historic Radio Recorders studios in Hollywood (Elvis' favorite recording studio), Mancini gathered some of the top jazz musicians in Hollywood as well as top studio musicians; the throbbing bass-heavy piano riff that runs through the theme was played by a guy named Johnny Willams who later found a bit of fame as composer John Williams; Williams learned from the best...

She's just released her first album......not sure how many sold, but judging from her fanbase it's probably gone platinum.

Her latest video reminds me of a girlfriend who was into fake tans
( probably as a "man repellent" ) . The stuff would rub off on clothes, bedding, your hands....yuck.

Southern AllStars - Japanese band, been around for over 50 years, still got the original lineup. Poor guys are all getting old....but they still put out amazing music videos like this one....they got good taste in the ladies :)
