Want this! Very nice. It seems a modification of DGUI hardcore, true?

Many thanks for the work.:Kaleun_Cheers:

Just DGUI at the moment - This comes standard with the 'Stand-alone' ?
I'll look at ARG later.

The mod just :-
- changes a few image files (scopes, binocs), adding degree gradations.
- adds my old cameras file.
- adds 2 new dials and files for the Solution Disc.
- adds some details to the recognition manual image files.
- moves a few items around in the Layout 'page'.

Other than that no major changes

The Solution Disc allows one to calc ship speed at any AOB without having to know the AOB, times ranging from a few seconds to 6 minutes depending on the situation.

Involved a bit of maths treachery and slight-of-hand :D

I must still change the recog manuals 'info addition' to period fonts.. anyone have an idea on the font used here - looks like a typewriter.

Then testing of course.

Yes it’s standard with Stand Alone :yep:
ARB is add-on mod for those who don’t like DGUI hardcore.
Personally, I prefer DGUI to ARB.

Do you plan to release it? If so I may add it to the download (as add-on mod too)

Yes... I'll most likely finish changing the Recog manual files this weekend with a bit of testing.. so sometime next week.

Just need a place to upload it...

Another 2 weeks delay.
I tried to get too smart, too fast.. :har:

The wheel hasn't changed, just have to redo the measurements presentation on scopes and Recog manual.. it's tedious manual labour.. but want it done.

The method and results remain the same.

All done, and just the docs and packaging the zip file.

Here's a test video, that had an unexpected turn.
https://youtu.be/I_DC-ZcEmCg

I'd set the test mission to clear weather for 96 hours, dumb/blind crew and 8 knots... but somehow the weather turned nasty. but continued with recording as this was an opportunity to demonstrate this method at it's best.

I must admit that I forgot to set the TDC range setting, and also set the ship speed closer to 9 knots, instead of the wheel's 8.4 knots, but knew firing a spread in this situation should have positive results.. which it did.

And.. I should really learn to push that Big Red Button..

The third torpedo, I forgot to open the doors before firing.... shyte happens when talking on the phone and recording games at the same time.:D

I'll demonstrate this later, when I have more time (have a car to repair and house maintenance to attend to - the preverbial job jar :wah:)

This 'wheel method' encompasses and simplifies most methods I can think of. I'll document these in the 'extensive' doc/readme supplied with the mod.

I'm a bit puzzled why we have not seen this in the historical notes as it's really fast and accurate.
4 seconds in the above case... with me making a string of mistakes but still obtaining 2 hits. :o

Surely someone must have worked this out before ?? I'm my search of patent applications, I was shocked to find how many different variations of the same patent existed, way back into the 1700s.
:arrgh!:

To simply the method..

Once you have the range (guestimate or measured) the time to calculate a solution... is the time for the ship to traverse 1 degree of Field Of View, no matter what the AOB is.

Any sub speed adjustments are then via simplified (supplied) trig tables.

With a bit of practice the 'Solution time' should be in the area of '1 degree traverse time' + 10 to 20 seconds.. that is without stopping the real time clock.

Another tut.

Had to record a few times until i realised I had dud torpedoes enabled. :har:
Then I enabled external view seeing the torps pass under the ships. :haha:

So third attempt.. 'No Duds' set and we can now see result.
:Kaleun_Cheers:

Tracking in the opposite direction to the convoy, performing a side shot.
In case you're curious, I had no idea of this mission parameters.. it's all done via the solution wheel.

Added a few more details to the 'green disk' to help speed up 'mental maths' relating to when doing sub speed, torp distance and minor adjustment calculations.

Will upload later.

Made a simple disk with laminated paper images.
Wasn't too worried about finess, time was short. :-)
