Ships... Comparison

I decided to compare ships from different versions of the game. Let's start with Hog Islander...

As you can see, the overall dimensions are approximately the same. But if you look at the details (masts, anchor, inter-deck spaces etc.), then the discrepancy in proportions and sizes is very striking.

The SH4 ship even has a strange hull shape (the delirium of a drunken programmer).
Rating: There's nothing to rate here - it's trash. Throw it away and forget it.

The SH5 ship is more similar, but has the same problem with sizes and proportions.
Rating: 2.5 stars.

There's not much to say about the last ship. This is almost the standard of what a game ship should look like.
Rating: 9 stars.

I think the Liberty ship from CCOM was a bit more realistic than in other SH3 mods.

The SH5 version is better but still looks ugly and with a strange hull shape... :Kaleun_Sick:
The version you adapted for SH3 is far better, but there are some unhistorical details, and the hull shape is still incorrect in the stern section.


This one is even better, but doesn"t have any textures yet... More in PMs if you want.

War Thunder Liberty has a number of serious inaccuracies. That's why I've been thinking for a long time about creating an exact copy of Liberty. Unfortunately, I'm too busy to do this right now.

It is not real in real life :oops::yep: I made list merchant ships from 1953 year and can say, that in many ships not one photo f.e. Draw it is not science fantasy. Many photo alder ship poor quality. And when any start made models ships, so can made near reality only.

It is single foto for this ships. Other not. Can any made autentic model this ships? No. So not need go for authentic model. And for many modern merchant ships was many modernisation and real pictures was other.

Сам посмотришь и убедишься, что редко когда бывает более 2 одинаковых судов. Во время 2 мировой войны , и много десятков лет после, формально однотипные суда на самом деле были только похожими судами единичной постройки. Они отличались и тоннажом, и размерениями и силовой установкой и скоростью и внешним видом.

Америки ты не открыл. Я только не понял, что ты хотел сказать. Что я сделал не на 100% точную копию? Открою маленькую тайну. Никто не сделает. Потому что для этого надо перелопатить тонну чертежей, от которых порой и следа не осталось. Да и мало кто будет этим заморачиваться.

Извини, но я всего лишь хотел сказать, что тебе не нужно заниматься придиразмами :haha: То есть ты решил сделать точную копию судна и покритиковать других авторов моделей. Но поскольку другие авторы
делали модели не с потолка, а с других однотипных судов - то у них всё правильно :salute: Только формально однотипные суда отличались. Могу сказать, что в целом, после моей проверки на выборке судов 3 сайлента я нашёл прототипы для всех судов, включая все варианты малых транспортов, либертей и прочего. Потому просто прошу не говорить о том, что модели судов не верные.
Могу даже ещё больше сказать, что несмотря на то, что IABL сделал свой торговый мод с произвольно сделанными судами, то и у него в моде я тоже нашёл почти все прототипы, про кои, он, вероятно, и сам не знал.
А так могу предложить тебе зарегиться у меня на сайте и получить доступ. Там в разделе 1950-х годов кучи торговых судов 2 мировой, про кои сейчас никто и не знает. Будет тебе материал для производства новых корабликов для игры :haha:

Да, и дополню немного для понимания. В начале появления СХ 3 было много срача по поводу корабликов и их качества изготовления. Я это помню, и не хочу, чтобы такое повторилось. Ибо ты говоришь - вот, нашёл фото кораблика, условного Либерти. Все модели сделанные до этого были не верны, ибо вот фото, а вот модели. А потом, после того, как ты сделаешь новый Либерти по новой фоте корабля, появится кто-то вроде меня (условно), кто скажет, а вот Alex.B неправильный Либерти сделал. Вот фотография Либерти, который правильный. Ну и пошло-поехало. А этих Либерти были сотни, и модификаций у них были десятки. Потому если сделаешь новый Либерти, то обозначь его отличным от имеющихся, чтобы вариантов Либерти было побольше. Ну и да - напоследок тот самый Либерти, который условный Я сказал, как правильный, после того, как Alex.B сделал неправильный :haha:

Это самый настоящий Либерти полученный из США во время войны.
А теперь сравни его с тем, который хочешь сделать ты сам, и проникнись пониманием того, что твой Либерти также будет неправильным :haha:

I think a ship's model is "correct" when its general dimesions, shape (hull lines, funnels), tonnage and speed are like the real ones. (Obviously, the hull lines of the SH4 model of Hog Island were not correct, and some other details (the rudder for example)). Then, you can add different customized details for the ship. :03: For example, you can add different options ("loadouts") for various AA guns arrangements and platforms.

Ideally, each merchant ship from the same class should have a different appearance. For this, you can play with skins (hull textures), 3D details, and guns arrangements.

I am very excited about the new Hog Islander. Eventually, I think that the older Silent Hunter ships should be retired from the supermods and replaced with the newer ships. :yep:

Individual ships of the Hog Island/C2/C3 class could also be modified further for variety - different shipyards produced slightly different funnels and deckhouses.

Even Liberty Ships had different appearances.....British Liberty Ships usually had large minesweeping booms on their masts, unlike US Liberty ships.

I think you are refering to the booms used to deploy the anti-torpedo net.
