Most amazing thing just happened, still in shock!

Playing a fleet boat career, started off in the Asiatic fleet. Feb 9, 1942 I'm just a little southeast of Zamboaga when my look outs spot smoke. Turns out to be a Task Force, since it's bright daylight and calm seas I submerge and hope to get close enough for a decent spread of torpedos.

Fire two at a Furutaka class, one at the closest Fubuki and one at a Hasshu Maru, the wakes are spotted, and the TF starts to go crazy. The Furutaka goes hard to port while the Fubuki next to it goes hard to starboard. THEY BOTH collide and this causes my torpedoes, that otherwise would have missed to hit the Furutaka in the stern. It sets off a magazine explosion and here's the cool part...the Fubuki that it rammed blows up too! An amazing bit of detail, I had no idea secondary explosions could damage other ships. Sadly, I didn't get credit for the DD lol

Yes; explosions have a spherical radius with diminishing levels of damage as you travel from the center. Any unit too close to an exploding ship/plane/piece of ordnance will take damage if it is within the danger zone.

Another interesting detail is that plane wreckage can damage ships (not just the main body of a plane!) I once saw a Ju-88 get shot down - the broken off wing plunged onto a cargo ship and set it on fire. Quite a surprise!:haha:

yep.
been there and been put-upon by an exploding tanker or merchie carrying ammo.

creeping up to fire @under 2000 yds and the target makes a last minute course change...towards you. so you stay with the setup and fire at extremely close range and your boat goes down as part of the explosion.

i have also seen cases of escorts detecting us in the middle of an attack and they speed to our location right through the middle of the convoy. you hit one of the ships, which could be a tanker or a freighter with ammo, and as the thing explodes the exploding/flaming debris lands on the escort and blows it to kingdom come.
