UBOAT Update 2022.1: Coming in October

New update due for release next month. A few highlights:

Ports
The ports have undergone a total overhaul. The new ones are more detailed and historically correct. The ports reworked in 2022.1 include La Rochelle, La Spezia, Bergen and many more. There are also new ports added in.

Hedgehogs
Hedgehog launchers are now installed on Allied ships starting with late 1942.

Air raids

Seasons & tides
There are now seasons with snow in the winter and plant life reddening at the autumn.

Climate zones are now also part of the simulation with plant life variation depending on the region.

Sun now appears at a correct position for the Northern and Southern hemispheres.

Tides are now simulated within the game. Their intensity varies from region to region.

I think it has a long way to go before that personally. But in time who knows right. This latest development should be a step in the right direction. And there are already some nice mods available, as per the above post.

. Tides are now simulated within the game. … Tides? Now thats interesting. Have tides been simulated before? The Wind , Tide , Moon and the flows they cause are a major RL nautical consideration. I’m eager to see what they come up with.

Oh yay. Hedgehogs. I can't wait. Just what I needed.

Lol, I'm kidding. Very cool! Looking forward to it. The ports look fantastic, but then the game is quite pretty all the 'round. I really like the water modelling, to my eye it is probably the best I've seen.

TMB mines have also made it into the game. These mines were designed to be launched from the torpedo tubes and were commonly used by the u-boats during World War II.

There is a new type of assignment from the command that asks you to plant a minefield near the enemy coast. The target areas are usually frequently patrolled, so this type of mission is all about sneaking into the area and escaping unnoticed.
