Greetings,
I had Paint.NET installed on my old computer years ago, but that computer crashed. I have a new computer now, and tried to install Paint.NET on it....However....As soon as the install begins, I get the following: "ERROR CODE 1603. There was a fatal error during installation. This program will now close." Is there now an issue with Paint.NET? If so, can anyone suggest another program similar to it? Thank you!

Hmmm.... odd, as I just downloaded & installed paint.net then ran it, without any issues.
Found it, here:

Ditto on MM's link. It is also available in the MS Store (oh boy!!!) or from their site at
https://www.getpaint.net/index.html
It sounds like you might be trying to use an old installer, which might not be compatible with the new computer.
You could also try to use the installer by right-clicking on it, and choosing "Run as administrator"...

If you read carefull the pn page some op systems are not supported anymore. Like win7.
Try older version if you op is not supported
In my opinion there is nothing better than pn for free.
I run 4.2.11 & its more than perfect
Of course for large files or .raw you need 1.6 gig paintshop

Is paint.net 4.3.11, not the latest version...? :hmmm:
As that's what I updated to from the source I link shared.

No sweat, as I do know that every once & a while... tools that are hot listed as free, do have that moniker, removed. :hmmm: :yep:
Which, was why I asked... for clarification... Jeff, My friend. :shucks:  As My grandfather, said... is never a wrong question, except the 1 never asked... how else is 1 supposed to learn. Wise man. *sighs*
No harm, no foul. :yep:
