Not my work, but thought I would bring it to people’s attention here, made by Alligator. Probably one of the most important mods made to date for this game:

Thanks for the recommendation, installed and started using it yesterday. I don't suppose you're planning a tutorial video? :)

I just downloaded the mod after reading this post. So far so good, I like it.
If the navigator at the chart table loses its orientation (0%), a possible sextant measurement becomes very imprecise.
I agree that if the chart table loses its orientation (0%), then I become lost and will no longer be able to estimate my position. Since the sextant was one of only a few reliable means available to determine location, is there a way to have the use of the sextant boost chart table orientation percentage? Unless of course weather blocks the sky and/or horizon then my actual location would remain unknown until the weather cleared and use the sextant. Hope that made sense.
Btw is there a way to implement radio direction finding as a means to determine location?
Disclaimer: I know nothing about mods or what goes into making them or if anything I mentioned is even possible.
Many thanks to you mod makers! IMO you all add options for much greater involvement in the sim that keeps the sim interesting and me playing.

It's great! I bought UBOAT when it first arrived. Liked it, but too "gamey", shelved it. I've just come back to it. Loving it. It's beautiful. I'm using Uboat Expanded, Real Nav, Real Compass, and Urfisch's amazing TDC mod. UBOAT is def getting better now. I've literally ran aground with Real Nav heh (suboptimal attention span and a healthy dose of time compression). Leaving Wilhemshaven at night has now actually become a little thrilling too. Nice work! I'll nvr go back to not using Real Nav. I find real compass can be a bit finicky, but more likely that's just me.

Spent an hour or so tracking a target using Real Navigation. Using the mod your world suddenly gets real small like a tiny bubble. You can only rely on your own two eyes and ears now and really have to put in some work to obtain your location, an intercept course, ID targets and figure out firing solutions.
Without camera views and plots of own ship and enemy shipping on my chart. My torpedo hit probabilities went right down the toilet. :D

I hear ya. Haven't done this since SH4. Ramping up the learning curve as we speak. I just found this(Dale class tanker, C Class? Cruiser + 2 Destroyers). My watch guys are terrible! They still haven't declared these targets lol. I haven't even had the "horizon smoke" notification. They obviously want me dead.

If yer not using it already, I'll be practicing with Gutted's Solution Solver. It's well worth it!

The MOD is really what I wanted but I want to do the Celestial calculations myself.
I am trying to edit my saved game file. Hexadecimal viewer is alien to me. Any suggestions? I am looking for the coordinates of our submarine in the file.
