View Full Version : Using SCSoundEdit and RA 1.50 sfx.agg?

G'day guys,

I was trying to do some tweaking with the sounds of 1.50 and I noticed that the 'main' sfx.agg file won't allow things to be added to it, for some reason, when using the SCSoundEdit program - keeps saying, "this file cannot be created".

I turned off the 'read only' characteristics of the file - no joy there - still says "this file cannot be created"

I tried modifying a copy of the file - that worked - when I pasted it into the main SFX folder, it said "this file is use by another program" - even though I had no other programs running.

Please help if you can - the other interface sound files seem to work - which makes it weird why the main sfx.agg won't allow changes. :Kaleun_Salute:

Cheers guys,
Stew

...and an answer from Pisces...from 2008!

Did you run DW right before working on that sfx.agg? Or some kind of editor. Sometimes Windows is lazy in letting go of it's file access-rights after a program shutdown. Rebooting Windows should release the file again. I don't know a nicer way to do it.

I managed to get it to work, but now I've broken the sfx.agg file, no ambient sounds from subs and ships (and I forgot to make a backup!)

Oh well, looks like another reinstall ;)
