An issue which has irritated me since SH 4 came out is the Gato/Balao control rooms and the placement of the ladder. I have been on two Gato and one Balao class submarine in my life and every photo have seen the ladder is between the dive plane stations, to the left of the diving officer, not behind him. I'm not sure about the Tambor Class but since so similar to the Gato guessing this is applies as well. Vicker's revamp of the interiors really brought life to the the subs, something UBI failed to do. I ask, can the ladder be moved? lol Also, anyone know of a Gato/Balao where the ladder from control room to conning tower is as shown in SH 4 ?

If it's a 3D object? It could be moved.
Any pictures to clarify placement?

Likely is a 3d object and I was going to post photos but as can see was beat to it. In every Gato/Balo have been on, and every photo have seen, the ladder is positioned as shown in photos. The rungs you climb face out towards the diving officer in center of control room, opposite the dive planes station.

You might want to tilt it some based on this picture.

Looks great. I assume would be the same for TMO (which uses vickers interiors) ? I'm not sure about the slant, The ladders i've climbed into Gato and Balao towers were not slanted.

Jeff, which file(s) do I need to open up via S3D

That slanted Scară picture was taken in the USS Muskallunge.

Interesting. Perhaps varied in a few boats? Muskallunge was kind of a later Gato, not commissioned until September 1943, constructed at Electric Boat. Late stage design modifications perhaps? Drum was the first, actually completed commissioned before the Gato, straight vertical ladder in Drum.

By the way?
Scară is Romanian for ladder.
:03:
Adjusting that as I posted above does not effect any other object.
BUT! Since the AO mapping is based on the original placement?
You may see odd shadows.

I thought with a name like that, it would have been a Manitowoc boat, but it's not: DANSF USS Muskallunge (https://www.history.navy.mil/research/histories/ship-histories/danfs/m/muskallunge.html)

IF one was to go really wild?
Just make a version with the slant and add it in should you get a late model.

It'd be nice if the SubName.cfg line for the interior had a "date" parameter... but could you do an eqp line for like the flag? or as part of an "UpgradePack" like the deckgun or radar?...

Umm....
:hmmm:
Not gonna be me to do that.
Your speaking mostly Ancient Egyptian when you say things like "UpgradePack"

Only "UpgradePack" I'm familiar with is when the local SpeedWay offers 24 packs of Coors Lite over the 18 pack.

:har: :arrgh!: That's a good one. The 24 pax were on sale at the local store here the other night, advertised as "Get 24 for the price of 18 when you buy two 24 packs of BrandX brewskeez!!!"

As for that UpgradePack, it is a combination of files listed in the SubName.upc file, to "upgrade" your equipment, such as the radar or sonar or deck gun, etc. The "ladder" would have to be "disguised" as equipment though... but the sub's flag can be done with an entry in the SubName.eqp file... so if it works for an exterior node, surely it would work for an interior node, right?... :har: - although, we do know how everything in the game is so "the same", yet so different... Of course, then we should be able to make the broom appear also... hmm. :O:
