White was the standard even during the war. Look at pictures of U-505, that has been restored to its wartime appearance. Eggshell white was regulation. The dark stuff is a holdover from Das Boot, pure movie stuff. We have documentation of the wartime regulations as part of the Crush Depth project.

I'm racking my brain, how do I replace this black color with white or cream?
I am very interested in the answer to this, I have wanted a correct interior for a long time. Seems like it would be a tremendous amount of work.

Why would you do that? In game interior looks nothing like that anyway. What you see there is just a model without wall and pipes textures...launch the game and then look at the interior, not from goblin...

Even so, it’s still awfully dark, much more than reality, I understand where he’s coming from.

I would say that it is dark (instead of a pretty green) to hide the lack of some detail in the image... Less work for the devs... much harder to count bolts, and notice that pressure tanks are missing, etc... :arrgh!: - illusionary! :salute:
