This really is sad news. As Jim said, one pf the great actors and certainly, one of the best. Christopher played so many great roles, it would be hard to pick a favorite. The Sound of Music would certainly be a favorite. Christopher also played great roles in Somewhere in times and Star Trek 6, the last for the original crew, as General Chang and as a Klingon prosecutor. This video has Christopher Plummer throughout but watch him in action starting at 4:52 to the end.

And Capt. Von Trapp. The Sound of Music is a Christmas institution here, almost 20 years or so, every Christmas day or eve, that music would be broadcast in one of our TV channels! Arrgghhh!
