Countermeasures Tubes rework USN test boat 688-I
also latest hud improvements.
ive fished my new triple weapons category now for Epic W@ters
this breaks down weapons tubes in to three category,s
1. Torpedo tubes each type labeled so 533 / 21" ect
also ive added 2 selection lights on the tubes left and right to make knowing what tube is selected easier now
2. Countermeasures tubes both external or internal
countermeasures have been made a different caliber so only the countermeasure will fit in the appropriate tubes this was done so they wont take standard weapons ect
but as a los angels class has 14 launchers a mix of internal or external
& a Ohio has 16
so ive made
3" & 6" launchers selectable so you can mix and match this also lets you configure 4 at once so for example :
you could set up 1 & 2 as left and right hold depth decoys
then no3 as a surface one
then no4 in moss mode for a decoy straight run to flush out threats or to decoy incoming weapons
i,ve also marked the Countermeasures tubes with a label for easy loading
3. VLS (Vertical Launch Tubes)
so SSBN , SSGN missiles or vls equipped vessels
i,ve made these look different as well to make em stand out
i,ve added red glow and lights to also warn the player that they break the surface
they labeled VLS on the tube
some information and pictures on why ive decided to re-work this ill only post a few hear tho as ive trawled through my books and the internet while remaking epic w@ters
The CSA Mk II system is installed on 24 Navy submarines of two different classes: four
vessels of the Ohio (SSBN 726) Class, and 20 vessels of the Los Angeles (SSN 688) Class.
Launch assemblies on Ohio Class vessels are located above the waterline when the submarine is
surfaced; assemblies on Los Angeles Class vessels are located below the waterline. In addition,
the number of launch assemblies differs by vessel class. Ohio Class vessels have 16 launch
assemblies while Los Angeles Class vessels have 14 assemblies
see :
CSA Mk2 Launchers Ohio & 688i pic note :
CSA Mk2 Ordnance types :
Typically 3 inch Diameter so ADC Mark 1/2 decoys or NAE Beacons
Naval Acoustic Electromechanical = NAE
Acoustic Device Countermeasure = ADC
so the internal re-loadable ones are ICL
(Internal Countermeasures Launchers )
------------------------------------------------------------------------
that they also have external ELC launchers too
(External Countermeasures Launchers)
Typically 6 Inch Diameter so ADC Mark 3/4,s
=====================================
Russian Vessels tend to have 3 approaches to decoys
then standard Dropped Masker Decoys
Internal Stowed Decoys like a (Expendable) MG-74
MG-74 (Torpedo Decoy) these are fired from either UZPU
(Heavyweight Universal outboard launchers)
or were internal like a Moss Mark 70
so an Improved Akula Class has 8 torpedo tubes & six 533 UZPU,s so 14 tubes !!!
Project 955 Borei and Project 955A Borei-A SSBN,s are the same as well
but have Vls In cold waters so 15 tubes !!!!
then yasen class has 10 533 mm & six UZPU,s so a whopping 16 tubes
(plus the vls tube in cold waters so 17 tubes !!!!!)
this is the other reason ive decided to hold at like 4 decoy tubes showing as the 6 decoy tube panel would be very large once combined with the torpedo panels as well
also most of the Russian Countermeasure tubes are not Re-loadable so you wouldn't ever really need to fire of more then 4 at once most likely
this new approach plays very well im still making and improving atm
ive also remade my older 60,70 to 80,00,s Periscopes too add a bit more
"im in a submarine feel"
they all have backgrounds and go red if night also
their are 3 types
1. mono so one eyepiece
2. binocular so the standard 2 eyepieces
3. digital so like a tv screen ect
ive also been reworking all existing hud elements as tweaking em as i go
