The Gyrodyne QH-50 DASH (Drone Anti-Submarine Helicopter)
is a small drone helicopter
built by Gyrodyne Company of America for use as
a long-range anti-submarine weapon on ships
that would otherwise be too small to operate a
full-sized helicopter. It remained in production until
1969.
The DASH program was canceled in 1969 and
withdrawn from service 1968–1973.
Several are still used today for various land-based roles.
DASH role, the original marine version had a
turboshaft engine for improved performance and
the replacement of the seats and controls with a
remote-control system and stowage for two Mark
44 torpedoes. In this form the DASH could be
flown up to 22 miles (35 km) from the ship, giving
a submarine no warning that it was under attack,
at least until the torpedo entered the water
ive added these to USN Surface warships that should have em on my
Epic W@ters Mod i still need to make the model
tho fro now i just stuck 2 Vertical stacked helicopter tail rotors on a mk 46 ASW torpedo.
this new weapon gives surface ships even more ASW Attack Range & options
so in my game you use it like a RUR-5 ASROCK
these are especially useful for ships that dont have RUR-5 ASROCK,S or Helicopters
how to deploy First select it then place weapon nav marker were you want it to drop its weapons then press fire to make it fly off to that spot and drops its MARK 44 or 46 Torpedo's
Versions in my Epic W@ters game :
DSN-1 QH-50A = (pre-production not used in my game)
DSN-2 QH-50B = (pre-production not used in my game)
DSN-3 QH-50C = production Model Version 1 - (Mark 44 Torpedo)
DSN-3-QH-50D = production Model Version 2 - (Mark 46 Torpedo)
DNS-3 QH-50DM = production Model Version 2 - (Same but Better Range)
their were other models but they were army mostly so the ones i got are enough
ill put up a pic or 2 when ive got the actual model made
