every model in cold waters needs up to 9 or more things to exist some need less

1.) model file

2.) material file

3.) texture file

4.) Information Values so Vessel file or weapon file ect

5.) sensor values

6.) description

7.) audio sounds

8.) SFX so like smoke or light effects

9.) code behavior instructions so like AI ect or a set thing to do when a certain thing is triggered or times out

the main problem for modding in cold waters is NUMBER 2 material files as these are reused you have to keep track of em so for example :

wp_84_ssn_mike_pl

[Model]
ModelFile=ships/wp_ssn_victor2/wp_ssn_victor2

//Hull and Deck
MeshPosition=0,0,0
MeshRotation=0,0,0

MeshHullCollider=wp_ssn_victor2_coll_hull
MeshSuperstructureCollider=wp_ssn_victor2_coll_ss

Material=ships/wp_ssn_victor1/wp_ssn_victor1_mat
MaterialTextures=vessels/textures/black.png

this mike is using a victor 2 model & victor 1 material file

this is the main limiting factor for adding new items to Cold waters so :

ive decided to now make different and unique files for each vessel or weapons or aircraft to stop conflicting files from being a issue also this will make unlimited new models or materials possible

i wont have to Kit bash either kit-bashing is when you make a model out of other model parts every new thing ive even made was a kit bash project

& im very good at it but it has its limits

and as we can now add new models to the game and i can do 3d models any ways ive decided to go this way for future development

which will give us actual models of the actual things in question

ive started this to day by looking for programs to do the various things ill have to do and to use them do get the various files made

REMEMBER THESE are not the final models in some cases as im just bothered at the moment get em working then make em look better

all models have basic lighting enabled as im working out textures brightness vs shadows still

the examples in the pictures below are a few of my 78 new models for cold waters

these are from many varying sources or ones ive made my self mostly subs and weapons ive made

the aim in the end is to replace all textures with hd real life photo realistic ones

then add existing cold waters model parts to the models to make em more detailed and also scale better

this will also decrease the size of the mod as most of the parts will be all ready in the game

and will also increase stability of the mod as well as most of the bits are just reordered or re textured original cold waters files with new materials ect

ive managed to get all of the cold waters model files off the game so i now have these to use as parts ect

so / guns / propellers / masts / weapons / hulls / radar / texture files ect

the original coldwaters textures will also get a revamp to match the new better HD textures when i get round to that

with all these parts & also my home made ones & internet stuff i should be able to make very good models to greatly add to the game

i will also be making the long hull permits & sturgeons as well so they properly portrayed in the game

and the long hull seawolf class submarine the USS Jimmy Carter

with the models ive made or got now most submarines / warships / aircraft / weapons are now properly modeled in the game but need refinement

These models look great and it will be awesome to have some Royal Navy surface platforms in the game.

Great work shipmate :Kaleun_Applaud:

yes im at the moment mixing and matching up models & parts to make new royal navy ships

as like you said not much love has been given to (Royal Navy) assets so im addressing that as well as other nations

im fairly confident that by using a

Iver Huitfeldt class - (Royal Danish Navy)

&

type 45 & type 23 class (Royal Navy) models i can make

type 31E & type 26 (Royal Navy) models

then various other parts from loads of models to finish em off

see Pic.1) mix & match

ive also made both new Royal navy carriers :

HMS Queen Elizabeth (R08

&

HMS Prince of Wales (R09)

these have defensive anti-Air guns & missiles

and AW159 Wildcat,s for the Air-drop torpedo,s

and ive armed my British f35b,s on the carriers with

with Meteor & spear missiles

spear is anti-ship

meteor is anti air long range

BAE Systems has received an initial funding award from Lockheed Martin, the prime contractor on the F-35 programme, to start integration efforts for MBDA’s Meteor beyond visual range air-to-air missile and SPEAR precision surface attack missile.

Under this initial package of work BAE Systems and Lockheed Martin will also complete further integration work with MBDA on ASRAAM and with Raytheon on Paveway® IV, initially integrated in support of delivering Initial Operating Capability for the UK.

to that end ive been amassing missiles modes to use

see Pic.2) new air craft weapons models

(Submarines are also being reworked on all nations were needed)

Certainly an ambitious project! The quality on a couple of those could really use some work though.

first off i did say in large YELLOW words on the #2 post

"REMEMBER THESE are not the final models in some cases as im just bothered at the moment get em working then make em look better"

by that i mean its more important to me to get the new models in the game and add the new sensors & weapons to em

to get em working right

its Far more important to get em all working First then make em look better

once they all fully functional

better cosmetics & appearance can come after

with all models ive got now and the ones ive made & the original coldwaters assets

that wont be a problem just a matter of time & effort

if i change the model entirely that just means a re do of the

1.) waterline

2.) MeshHullCollider

3.) MeshSuperstructureCollider

4.) move certain weapon emplacements maybe (CIWS) & navy guns or torpedo tubes & spawn positions also missile spawn positions

but all this is secondary to the new platforms being usable in the game

&

more importantly that they are in the game in the first place

this approach will be the most expedient especially since my time at the moment its at a premium

"si aliquid valet ejus facere, dignum facere ius"

(if something is worth doing its worth doing right)

mind my rusty latin is its wrong

Got to say i'm really excited about these additional ships, if you need anyone to do some testing for these platforms i'm happy to volunteer my services.

As a former skimmer and submariner in the Royal Navy this will be the icing on the cake in my opinion.

yes its all ways better to get as much input as possible on these projects

so thank you

when its more developed ill keep you in mind

i was testing the new missiles on the British F35b Fighters against ships

i am currently using a harpoon Anti-Ship Missile model at the moment for flight tests

but have now decided to get it far closer in general design as with models i can now

so ive adapted one to the design pic its not 100% but far better then the Harpoon model i was using

Isn't the meteor an air-to-air missile?

Love the project and good luck!

steel shark
12-22-20, 06:35 AM
it is yes

spear is anti-ship

Meteor is anti-air

how ever ive not made the spear or other next gen weapons models yet
for the f35B

so im using the new meteor model for now for both spear & meteor
as before i used the harpoon model

also even that,s not finished yet fully as i got conflicting design pictures to look at for the various weapons

as some are not even made yet so they not finalized designs

however weapons are dead easy to make or make out of other weapon parts

as they are usually just tubes with end pieces basically then controlling fins or rudders maybe ducts too

bar a few exceptions of course

thank you for the luck ill take all i can get at the moment

Hi there,

Is there a chance to get a realistic Virginia Class Block III model in Cold Waters?
One of the most important submarines to play a realistic scenario of the 21st century.

Thank you for your work!

steel shark
12-26-20, 11:51 PM
im still improving the first batch of models ive got

then ill start on new ones

but yes all 5 Virginia classes will be modeled

but remember tho that some of the Virginia classes differences are internal so some blocks will use same models

like Block (I) & (II) ect

then block (III) use Virginia payload tubes (VPT) so x 12 tubes under x 2 hatches so 6 per module so 12 tubes in 2 groups of 6

1 block (III) has multi-material rotor pump jet then all block (IV) boats are the same

&

block (V) is the lengthen version with extra Virginia payload tubes (VPT),s for Ohio SSGN Replacement to keep SSGN,S Submarine USN fleet capability

Hatsuyuki-class Destroyer (JMSDF)

Pic.1) Hatsuyuki-class Destroyer (JMSDF)

& for actual pic for comparison

See Pic.2) JMSDF_DD-127_Isoyuki

Information :

Destroyers of the JMSDF had been divided into two series, anti-aircraft gun fire oriented

destroyers (DDA) and ASW-oriented destroyers (DDK). However, in the 1970s, a drastic review of the fleet became necessary due to the enhancement of the Soviet submarine fleet

and the reinforcement of the anti-ship missiles. After consideration by Operations research, eight ships / eight helicopters concept was adopted as a new fleet organization. In this

concept, each flotillas would be composed of one helicopter destroyer (DDH), five general-purpose destroyers (DD), and two guided missile destroyers (DDG).

this model represents my upgrade Quality aims as its got new models for launchers and ship radar & other components

to further refine my other efforts even more on then on my other first generation efforts

so now this is done i can add elements of this in to other models or use this and other parts

to redesign my existing Gen 1 models to Gen 2 Quality

as this model can easily be changed in to various other Nato Destroyer,s

my first Gen 1 to Gen 2 upgrade model will be :

Type 42 Destroyer (Sheffield Class) (1975-2013)

Pic.3) Type 42 destroyer sheffield class

as this is nearly the same but configured differently so this will be my first Gen 2 Upgrade Project.

im away for a few days now as im helping a m8 with flooding damage

as usual just leave a message in my Subsim Message box if any one need anything im only on my phone tho and reception is Rubbish so bear that in mind.

P.s

thank you for the support all those that have commented

as all these models are very time and effort intensive on my part to refine then get to work with cold waters properly

these are not finished as they need textures finishing or making in some cases also the they both need prop shafts / props & rudders but you get the idear for quality im aiming for :

The Oliver Hazard Perry class is a class of guided-missile frigates named after the U.S. Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, the hero of the naval Battle of Lake Erie.

Also known as the Perry or FFG-7 (commonly "fig seven") class, the warships were designed in the United States in the mid-1970s as general-purpose escort vessels inexpensive enough to be bought in large numbers to replace World War II-era destroyers and complement 1960s-era Knox-class frigates. In Admiral Elmo Zumwalt's "high low fleet plan", the FFG-7s were the low capability ships with the Spruance-class destroyers serving as the high capability ships. Intended to protect amphibious landing forces, supply and replenishment groups, and merchant convoys from aircraft and submarines, they were also later part of battleship-centred surface action groups and aircraft carrier battle groups/strike groups.

Fifty-five ships were built in the United States: 51 for the United States Navy and four for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). In addition, eight were built in Taiwan, six in Spain, and two in Australia for their navies. Former U.S. Navy warships of this class have been sold or donated to the navies of Bahrain, Egypt, Poland, Pakistan, Taiwan, and Turkey.

The first of the 51 U.S. Navy built Oliver Hazard Perry frigates entered into service in 1977, and the last remaining in active service, USS Simpson, was decommissioned on 29 September 2015.[2] The retired vessels were either mothballed or transferred to other navies for continued service. Some of the U.S. Navy's frigates, such as USS Duncan (14.6 years in service) had fairly short careers, while a few lasted as long as 30+ years in active U.S. service, with some lasting even longer after being sold or donated to other navies.

The Arleigh Burke class of guided missile destroyers (DDGs) is a United States Navy class of destroyer built around the Aegis Combat System and the SPY-1D multifunction passive electronically scanned array radar. The class is named for Admiral Arleigh Burke, an American destroyer officer in World War II, and later Chief of Naval Operations. The lead ship, USS Arleigh Burke, was commissioned during Admiral Burke's lifetime.

These warships were designed as multimission destroyers, able to fulfill the strategic land strike role with Tomahawk missiles; antiaircraft warfare (AAW) role with powerful Aegis radar and surface-to-air missiles; antisubmarine warfare (ASW) with towed sonar array, anti-submarine rockets, and ASW helicopter; and antisurface warfare (ASuW) with Harpoon missile launcher.

With upgrades to their AN/SPY-1 phased radar systems and their associated missile payloads as part of the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense System, the ships of this class have also begun to demonstrate some promise as mobile antiballistic missile and anti-satellite weaponry platforms, operating on 15 ships as of March 2009.

Some versions of the class no longer have the towed sonar, or Harpoon missile launcher. Their hull and superstructure were designed to have a reduced radar cross-section.

The first ship of the class was commissioned on 4 July 1991. With the decommissioning of the last Spruance-class destroyer, USS Cushing, on 21 September 2005, the Arleigh Burke-class ships became the U.S. Navy's only active destroyers, until the Zumwalt class became active in 2016. The Arleigh Burke class has the longest production run for any post-World War II U.S. Navy surface combatant.

Besides the 62 vessels of this class (comprising 21 of Flight I, 7 of Flight II and 34 of Flight IIA) in service by 2016, up to a further 42 (of Flight III) have been envisioned.

With an overall length of 505 to 509.5 feet (153.9 to 155.3 m), displacement ranging from 8,230 to 9,700 tons, and weaponry including over 90 missiles, the Arleigh Burke class are larger and more heavily armed than most previous ships classified as guided missile cruisers.

That’s understandable, if there is one thing you get out I really hope you can finally be the one to give us an ACTUAL Astute class submarine model 🙏🏼

I saw a post on Reddit earlier where I believe I saw the model you’d been working on and it looked great,

yer that one someone sent me but would need a lot of reworking as it was very low quality

with no masts also would need damage partitions making the model re-scaling model shape readjusting as it was wrong in certain areas / re texturing various times new dive planes making new rudder making torpedo tubes redefining ect even a new propeller and shroud

so would be less effort for me to just make one from scratch that takes time tho that's the trouble with free stuff its not all ways good like i said we see not be any time soon tho like i said
