Hello

Zoom-plateform updated the dangerous waters game on their platforms. The game now works under w10 and we can even change the ingame resolution.

They also released 688i which is also compatible w10 and fleet command as well as subcommand are expected soon.

Did they just swap out that .dll file, or is this a new build?

:hmmm:

I don't know if I'll be buying yet, but its definitely bookmarked.
My concern would be if the DLL wrapper becomes "verboten" in Win10 and if they changed the games to the point where they display in true 16:9 format. :D

After that, what about adding mods? Would that break the install? :hmmm:

Yes. For info all the other sonalyst games are also available in the shop from now on and compatible with w10. I haven't tested these yet.

Other info the french versions of fleet command, dangerous waters and 688i seems planned. I keep you informed

I haven't tested the dangerous waters game with mods. I only play in vanilla. The thing I can say is that I can change the resolution in the game under w10 without any crash.

ps: For the very nostalgic wolfpack game from the 90s is also available.

FWIW, Fleet Command and 688(I) Hunter/Killer on Steam work fine on my Windows 10 with nothing else done for compatibility purposes. I think Sub Command from Steam will work on Windows 10 with nothing else, but I use the d3d8.dll from Dangerous Waters for good measure.

Even using d3d8.dll, the game crashes from time to time, see all the time if you change the ingame resolution.

Awesome but what resolutions can be used and does it support widescreen?
Has anyone tested this yet?

My DW runs fine with Win10 and the fix. Only reason for getting this would be if they managed to get it to widescreen res, so can anyone falsify or verify if higher resolutions and/or widescreen is possible?

Pretty sure widescreen is not possible unless the game source code were acquired and it were re-compiled. There are currently only five native resolutions available for DW from 640x480 to 1600x1200.

Hello everyone,
i just purchased a bundle at steam (688, sub command, DW and fleet).

688 runs well. But the others wont start.

Any ideas to make DW run on w11? I tried to add the .dll That doesnt change anything (even tried all 3 versions of the .dll)

I tried the DXWND but also no change.

Its a brand new laptop from MSI, i7 12700H, GTX3060, 64 bit system.

Thanks a lot!
chris

The above is why I have not updated from Win10 to Win11 - too many compatibility issues that break most of the applications and games I use .

Also running Windows 11 now, with a new computer, steam versions of 688, Sub Command and Dangerous Waters.

688 runs perfectly, Sub Command and DW I cannot get running. Tried the .dlls, DxWnd, DgVooDoo, compatibility modes, etc, etc, etc. I might keep the old Windows 10 laptop around for a while yet, until I can get this figured out.

:ping:RagnarTheTerrible!:Kaleun_Salute:...the infamous :subsim:-7-year-itch has brought U 2 the surface. Nice 'silent run' since 2016! Being a complete computer illiterate myself; I avoid all attempts to upgrade to WIN 11 that suddenly appear on my screen. Everything I've gleaned from more competent :subsim:ers' posts tends to reflect general disatisfaction with the games on WIN 11. :hmmm:

I may be worth looking into emulation at this point. I'm upgrading to win 11 soon with new hardware, so I was going to try this Windows XP VM/container (https://oldpcgaming.net/virtual-machine/). The pitch sounds promising. I haven't touched it myself yet so we shall see.
