I know some don't like them but....I do. I think they're removed from TWOs. Is it possible to replace the ones in TWOs with stock game explosions and does anyone have a file/mod?

Not aware of any such mod but, have you unchecked Reduced Fires and Explosions addon in JGSME? That addon might be the cause of fewer expolsions in your game.

Yeah it’s unchecked. I liked the original fireworks and they seem to have been changed.

Not many SH5 players liked those fireworks. I think FX update by TDW removed them, and that mod on turn became parte of TWoS.
Restoring them might be a relatively easy task, but I don't know whether the particle effect which included them was reworked to look more sober or simply removed, nor I know the name of that effect. Deducing that information from the comparison of stock and modded files might take longer than actually restoring the old effect once you know how to do it.

Do you know which folder they’d be in? I’d like the original smoke back too.

Do any of the modders who worked on this have any idea?

Unfortunately TDW is no longer an active member. The settings which removed those "Disneyland" explosions are likely to be either in data\Zones.cfg, in data\Library\Baza_FX.dat, or in both files. My first bet would be Zones.cfg; compare stock and TWoS files using WinMerge and check if any stock zone damage effect has been removed or commente out (with a semicolon ';' at the beginning of the relative line).

Good luck!

I think the only way I can get the original zones file is to uninstall TWOs and download the stock game again.

Does anyone have the original file?

Hi Compans57!
I have a version of Zone.cfg 29-01-2010 that I found in an old save of SH5 in the Backup folder of the MODS folder that JSGME creates when it activates and replaces old files, and in any case before having installed TWoS. I almost certainly think it is the stock version 1.20.
The file I found is Zones.cfg 53,809 bytes 29-01-2010.
This is a small MOD to activate with JSGME: Stock Zone.cfg.zip
This is the link:

P.S. Sorry for my bad english language

:yeah:

For other subsim buddies who might be interest in restoring the same effect, what was its name?

Gap, it’s the zones.cfg that Torpedo kindly linked in the above post. Just bung it in JGSME and you’re good to go.

If you simply replace TWoS' Zones.cfg with the stock one, you will miss more features than you are gaining back, and you will also suffer some lame CTD's when an unit with custom damage zones will be damaged and those zones won't be found in Zones.cfg. SH5 is quite sensitive in those matters; if you continue going rogue with it, you will be looking for problems and you will probably end trashing your install of it before you have finished the first campaign.

As I said before, you should compare the two files and restore in the TWoS' version of that file, the stock lines responsible for the "fireworks" :yep:

Ok Gap thanks for the advice. I’ll take a look, test it and if it works I’ll post the new file.
