I'd like to change the number of aircraft attacking at one time. I.e., if there are two planes attacking the sub, what file do I need to change to increase or decrease that number ?

I've looked at the airstrike and airbase files but am to dumb to figure out what I'm looking for.

Am interested in this as well. On one occasion using LSH 2015 I was attacked by no less than six B-24 Liberators while patrolling several hundred miles off Freetown. That experience turned me off of LSH ever since.

Yes, I've got a modded stock install I like to mess around with. Great way to learn how to modd things.

I'm also trying to get rid of some pre-Leigh Light 1940 night attacks. I see a night modifier in the airstrike.cfg file, but I don't want to change that and screw it up for later when night attacks should be happening.

Think I figured it out. In the Land folder, open up an airbase.cfg file. In there under each group/squadron, you'll see a line that says "Squadron(x)Number =x

That number controls the number of planes that fly per sortie. Take a look in the LSH files and see if you find a "6" in that line for the B-24's.

That will confirm if for you.
