Hello fellow captains and crew,
I am currently debating whether or not to enable the Merged Campaign mod included with GWX. Based on the manual and from what I understand, the Merged Campaign allows players to transition war theaters mid patrol and only increases load times.
For a rather new SH3 player, would you recommend enabling this modification? Are there situations in a career where this mod is required to see continued action? Or is this more of an extra feature if I specifically want to go sightseeing in the Pacific?
I just don't want to screw up my new career before I even leave the dock!
Hope this makes sense. Still agonizing over the ingredients in my mod soup! Thank you all for your help and insight!

To work out of the Med, the Black Sea, or the Indian Ocean, you otherwise would have to load the related campaign files you saw in the optional mods. The merged campaign allows you to skip that step. Otherwise, you still need to chose your career flotilla as normal, and you need to read up (in the manual) on the Alternative Flotillas optional mod.
Sink'em ALL!!!

Thank you for the reply!
Based on that explanation, it sounds like enabling it might be a good idea. Although, the manual recommends only using that mod when transitioning in/out of Europe or the Orient. I also don't plan on using alternate flotillas. So I guess I'm not sure which way to go for my first career haha.
On a side note, are there any known conflicts between 'Merged Campaign' and 'HSIE' fix? I assume they work fine together but I just thought I'd check to make sure.
Thanks again. Good hunting!

I think you got a little bit confused but no worries.
The nice thing about the GWX - Merged Campaign optional mod is that if you do use it, you can leave it enabled and not have to remember to enable this campaign or that campaign. You can go anywhere in-game and have it all.
The included GWX - Alternative Flotillas is a separate matter. We couldn't make every flotilla usable at the same time. So depending which flotilla or U-boat you want, you may need to enable the GWX - Alternative Flotillas mod.
About this merged campaign mod, can we activate it anytime while in bunker?
Or do we must activate it at career start only?

At career start is best, but you can certainly activate it anytime while in your bunker.
