Hi there,

Does anyone know of a trainer/ simulator of the Angle on Bow, so you can learn to estimate the different angles better?

Hi stellaferox theres a tutorial built into wolfpack the three ships you see on the map are unsinkable so you can keep practicing your approach and setting your AOB until you have it nailed.

Did you try the training mode?

Thx, yes I did try the training mode. I watched all those videos. I was just wondering if there was an app to show all different angles of a ship to train you

If you move ahead of one of the 3 targets and go on a reverse parallel course you should see all aspects of the AOB as you go past. Also, you will have multiple ships to get a varied experience of how it looks. But it does take a bit of time, in comparison to an app in which you can turn them on the spot.

@blackswan40 thank you very much for the pointer to Sub Buddy. It's amazing. I'm just a newcomer to all of this, and a bit overwhelmed. I can see where the tools in Sub Buddy will really help me.

The old solution solver also got an AOB simulator by using an artificial 3D model: https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=1358

I personally like it very much since it resembles the function of periscope from DW/SC/Jane's 688i. But beware that different ship can have different sight pictures, and there's only one ship modelled in the solution solver.
