I am trying to reinstall SH4 v 1.4 and all went well with the Downloads. But when I try to install it V1.4, a box opens saying "This Application Was blocked for your protection. An Administrator has blocked this application. Check with your administrator for help."
Unfortunately, I am the Administrator and I am logged in as such. I tried to run 1.4 from a copy previously downloaded with the same result.

Any suggestions?

Thanks -
Larry

Try running the installer as Admin?

ya right click on the exe and select run it as administrator

often it tells you that even if you are the only user

... and if you happen to already have v1.5 on your computer, you cannot "update" it to v1.4. Also, the Steam v1.3 of the game can only be "updated" with the Steam v1.5 purchase of the game... :salute:

Thanks for the replies. I need to provide some more info. I installed from a CD without getting Steam involved.

I am the Administrator and I am logged in as the Administrator.

I do not have V1.5 installed. My focus is completely in the Pacific Theater, so never any interest in V 1.5.

But you mentioned something I didn't consider - maybe I already have 1.4 installed? I'll see if I can find a way to ID the vers I am running.

Thanks again for the help -

Larry

Windows likes to pretend it knows what you want better than you do. Sometimes, you need to explicitly tell it to do things as admin, even if you are the admin on the admin account.

Larry,
As other might attest, Wolves of the Pacific v1.5 is much more than just playing German U-boats in the Pacific.

v1.5 is necessary to install and run just about all of the quality mods and mega-mods that most all of us want to further enhance the experience.

Thanks for that great answer! I never realized it was anything other than playing the German side. Thx again!

I’m in the same boat. Windows won’t allow me to install 1.4 patch. Even when I try as admin I get blocked. Have tried shutting off the firewall, uninstalled and reinstalled the game into its own folder(not program files) and have had zero luck. It’s pretty tuff too play in version 1.0. 😡

I have one of those old old copies around here somewhere... from what I remember of that nightmare, you had to navigate into the game folder, use the <Ctrl><A> key combination to select all of the files in the folder. Then right-click with the mouse and choose "Properties". On the "General" tab, toward the bottom is the "Attributes" section, and the "Read-only" probably has a lightly-colored check mark in it. Clear that check mark by clicking on it, and then clicking on either "Apply" or "OK", and then choosing to apply it to all files and sub-folders. Then try to run the patch by right-clicking on it, and selecting "Run as administrator". :salute:
