Hi everyone!
I'm glad to release a new unit: a ww2 modern design hospital ship based on german cruise ships "Wilhelm Gustloff" \ "Robert Ley":

https://i.ibb.co/m6NQnnW/LSGustloff.jpg

This is a reworked version of original "Wilhelm Gustloff" by AOTD_MadMax (2007), reproportioned, with light effects, 3d details, 3d stairs and railings, reworked textures, correct number of lifeboats, new cranes, working searchlights, reworked .zon and .sil files...

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/bf/Bundesarchiv_Bild_183-H27992%2C_Lazarettschiff_%22Wilhelm_Gustloff%22_in _Danzig.jpg

This is not a 100% correct Wilhelm Gustloff model. This is intended to act as a generic modern ocean liner \ cruise ship (single funnel, 2 masts) converted to hospital ship during ww2. That's why i've added also 3d red crosses on ship's side and other details.

@ VonDos

Out of curiosity: why do you call your unit "generic"? As far as I can judge from a quick visual comparison with pictures of the real Wilhelm Gustloff, if not 100% accurate, your and AOTD_MadMax's model resembles the German hospital ship quite closely.

...and since you reward this unit as a 'generic modern ocean liner', why didn't you provide it with a generic war-grey texture together with the hospital ship texture? :)

Let me answer.
How do you imagine this ship in the neutral part and the opposite side of the AXIS?

Well, if you assign a unit to "Red Cross" roster, this ship will be spawned in all hospital ship's route. Red Cross units will not serve as a Allied or Axis unit, so this can create a paradox like a soviet Wilhelm Gustloff, or a british one.

Are you serious?
Do you know how much time will this require to me, for create a realistic troop transport\floating barrack unit with a semi historically accurate A\A with supports, a gray skin, to add rafts and extra lifeboats... :/\\!!:/\\!!:/\\!!

Just kidding. Not more than one hour using modular parts taken from previous units :rotfl2::rotfl2:

We will wait " Wilhelm Gustloff"

Thank you!
While waiting, just a question for you.
Do you think this ship should be considered a "civil" unit (Type103=Troop Transport) or a military unit (Type13=Auxiliary Cruiser, or something different?)?

Vd

It already is

As a modern liner in the roster of some neutral or allied nation, MadMax's/VonDos work is nothing but a generic unit but, placed in the German roster, the hospital ship - and her barrack ship reincarnation - look to me a pretty convincing reproduction of the actual Wilhelm Gustloff.

Only a perfectionist like VonDos could remind us that his model is not 100% accurate. How many SH units are btw? :03:
