SILENT HUNTER III - GWX won't install

Hello everyone!
I'm playing this SH3 free-dwnld which I've installed no problem few months back.
Now I'd MOD it with GWX, it sounds great and your comments seem to confirm that but I'm getting this msg from installer something like "there are already MODS in there! can't do!".
My question is: how do I clear up what shouldn't be there and go back to "stock" version? Can it be done?

Looks like, when you uninstalled the game a few months back, you didn't remove the old mods.

A good advice (for the future as well), when you uninstall a game, make sure to delete the whole folder, manually even.
