Hi,

I've been looking for a version of these two discs on the internet for a while. I would like it to be functional, to be able to move the parts directly.

I searched, but without success. Any ideas?

Well, how about creating the attackdisk yourself with cardboard, a printed sticker sheet and something transparent?

The next solution solver update will have both sides of the attack disc (currently only has the backside). I'm not really ready to release the next version of Solution Solver as im still working on some new powerful features for it.

In the meantime however, here's a version that has both sides of the attack disc working.

Like in SH5, click the center of the attack disc to flip it over.

Nazaka, I uploaded 2 pictures of my disk. Look at my earlier post.

Yeah, thanks Pisces...
but I don't have the courage and meticulousness to do these discs like you do.

gutted, it's exactly what I was looking for, a big thank you!

Ok, whatever you want. But my kind doesn't suffer from Alt-Tab-ing issues. ;)

I'm disappointed... there's no RAOBF disk.

It is the most complete tool when you have a good understanding of how it works.

The RAOBF that is commonly implemented in the game as a mod was really built into the periscope system on real German boats. So it never was available as a hand held tool in real life. But there is nothing stopping anyone from using the mod images to create a working physical model.

[edit] It has all the required scales, someone just needs to come up with the proper procedure of lining up the disks to simulate the AOB calculation. Unfortunately I haven't found it yet. But I didn't try hard either.

Range is easy. Line up mastheight (in centimeters, so value in meters with 2 trailing zeros) on distance scale with centigrads on the minute scale (estimate fractions to a 1/6th centigrad so you can use the smaller 10 seconds marks). Then look across 1-00 on the time disk (1 or 10 minutes) for low power range, and across 4 minutes for high power range. Distances shown in meters, no need to shift the decimal. ;)

The good thing about RAOBF is that everything is done with a single tool.

I use the ratio system to determine the AOB, but I have to do the calculations by hand, mark them on paper and refer to a slider to get the %/°AOB conversion.

RAOBF does all this without calculation, it's so satisfying

I've tried to install the solution solver tool, but Malwarebytes flags and quarantines something in it.

False positive. Either create an exception for it, or don't use it.

Let me guess though, it was from a machine learning heuristic type?

Those things are notorious for flagging stuff its never seen before.

Personally, i quit using virus scanners a long time ago. Windows Defender is good enough these days for the average user.

This looks pretty nice

I like the idea of real tools to use while playing the game. In-game tools are ok but there's something about combining the two that breaks the wall between simulation and reality that greatly appeals to me.

Thanks for the help, but i don't want build the RAOBF disk.

I am looking for a RAOBF disk accessible on the internet or an independent application.
I don't want to burden myself, an alt-Tab to access it is more than enough.

PS: it's not a RAOBF disk, it's an attack disk you have.
Look this picture:

This is one RAOFB. One tool to calcul distance, speed and AOB.

Windows Defender was actually picking it up the other day, too. Didn't stop me from telling it to eff off and let me run the program, but it was reading it as malicious. So I'm guessing it will be more of an issue as time goes on, especially with Wolfpack bringing new people into the fold.

someone who knows a little bit about it could easily make a small program that would combine two images and allow a rotation with the central ring.

I have retrieved the two necessary images but I don't know anything about programming.
I managed to get a satisfactory result with Gimp, but the central ring becomes more and more blurry with the succession of rotations.

I hope a good soul will be able to help me

Stay tuned, update 2.3 coming out soon. Has a built in position keeper, and getting target course and speed from bearing/range sightings while moving (like you would do on a moboard, but without the annoying moboard). Both features are built into the main wheel (.ie not some seperate tool).

All features are complete. Still testing for bugs & accuracy.

And i should really get around to making some videos using it.

Roland/CyStrikerI think you are in the wrong thread. This is not about the wood or acrylic attackdisk.

If you're wanting such a tool for its ability to get range and AOB from the targets apparent height & width in the periscope... the new solution solver 2.3 update has a tool (Periscope Solver) that does the same thing but much quicker and easier and with the ability to track the data of multiple ships.

Yes, please provide the files, particularly for the RAOBF since noone else has made a printable / laserable one.

Shipping from Switzerland seems silly when there's a laser cutter in a fablab just down the street from me.
