Which Mod?

Ahoy!
I would like to install something to make the sim a lot better (graphically / gamewise), what would be the recommended mod? I am running the steam version 1.04 build 0378.
Secondly, do all the mods work with the Steam version? If not I have original copies of DW stashed away but I would assume they would need patching up if I were to use them.
PS - I have jsgme.
PPS - have now installed RA. Will go with that.

Thanks for replying. May I trouble you with a question about the TLAM training mission, Assault on Freeport ? My problem is that I have set waypoints as per orders but the missiles are landing on nothing other than open land. Is there something obvious that I have missed?
