Hey guys! I never promoted a mod before, so I will do it here. I made this simple mod to share some of my favorite music with you.
It's simply an addition of radio channels for your use. The different version means more songs if you want them. Read the description to know more.
It's based on the TWoS 2.2.9 radio setup. Simply place into JSGME, activate and your channels will be placed in this order:
Departure = freq 11: 4 great songs for use while departing the harbor. 2 songs from SH3, and 2 movie soundtracks including Das Boot - Auslaufen, and Crimson Tide - Roll Tide.
Grossdeutscher Rundfunk = freq 22: Your typical German radio with music and news.
This freq came with TWoS and was not altered!
London = freq 33: British era swing from around the Isle.
Paris = freq 44: Feeling romantic? Try this!
Washington = freq 55: Swing and military music to make Uncle Sam Proud!
Algiers = freq 66: Feel like squeezing into Gibraltar? Do it in style.
All sound are .ogg files, and can be customized to your liking. Enjoy!
Download here:
Version 1 without Tokyo channel

A Version 2.0 with a Tokyo channel and more departure music!
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=5428
Version 3 has all of V1 and 2, but now with a Rome channel, and more departure songs. For your info, some of the departure songs are modern, but add that epic flare when leaving the pens. Enjoy!

My final version. Oslo and St. Petersburg have been added. Enjoy!

By request, an SH4 version with only Washington, Departure, and Tokyo channels. The radio.ini file was changed to work with a vanillia SH4 radio folder. Have fun. You can find this on SH4 downloads: Sound FX.

Here is my Gramaphone file. I have a lot of mid 30's music I know you will love.

Thanks I appreciate that. This mod is a “starter” radio mod. I am already thinking of more songs and channels to add to this. But this is enough to get started.

Cool!
So it includes the BBC radio mod also?
The more music the merrier the men are!
I will check if it works on 2.2.7
Not upgraded to 2.2.9 yet due to in-mission.

@Ashikaga, it does nothing to the stock German radio TWoS comes with, it only assigns a new channel freq for it to make room for the other channels. Basically I’m only adding British, US, and Mediterranean music. I particularly like the Departure songs!
Be sure to let me know how you like it. What other channels and songs to add? I was thinking of a monsun channel.

That could be great if it is period music yes
What I meant with the BBC Mod is that mod which has the BBC channels of World War Two full of programs and music. Dunno if it worked on dates also though. (This one by LesBaker: http://subsim.com/radioroom//showthread.php?t=221022)

I understand now... no this is a simple add on to the radio that already comes with TWoS. There are BBC files designated in the .ini file I customized so I’m sure they are on there in the German frequency.

Ok will check it out!
I normally just added mp3 songs in the directory of the radio playlist. Hilarious to go full speed with Snoop Dog on air...

@Ashikaga...
Just read your previous post. I do believe it works for 2.2.7. You can upload this mod in-patrol, because it only affects the radio files.

Hi bstanko6,
Great mod, thanks! In case you'll expand it in the future, this might come in handy (you can find here list of top hits from every year, 30s and 40s):

Hey great resource! Thanks kapuhy.
VERSION 2.0 SOUNDTRACK
Again well done :Kaleun_Applaud:
I don't especially like modern-sounding scores for this game (call me mad, but I literally hated the Das Boot soundtrack), but I love all the remaining tracks, and I like especially you having added Radio Algiers.
Maybe you might expand the music selection from North Africn, Middle East, and other countries under represented or not represented in the most popular SH radio mods :03:

For some reason I just love the Crimson Tide Roll Tide song as I leave port. It just feels right, but I’m with you on era specific music.

Unfortunately I never play it and I did not write the radio.ini file only adjusted it, but for the sake of anyone wanting to know, my work is for public... so if anyone knows how to use my mod and adjust for SH4, please go right ahead. Permission granted.

I am using the latest public beta mod of Fall of the Rising Sun. Do you think it works? Or is this only for the vanilla version?
Will try it during the week. I love your radio mod in SH5 but I wanted to change scenario so I installed also SH4 again.

It's based on vanilla. If that mod has a radio.ini file, just make adjustments to fit it in. Open my .ini file and you can see what I did with it. Simple.

I might as well post this little beauty. It is a sound mod for the passive music that plays when the radio and gramaphone are off. It plays the part when the guys in Das Boot are cat calling the dude with the coconuts and banana leaves on!

Ok, I am down to my last version. Once I tested it, I will release it. It will Have Oslo and St. Petersburg channels.
So now we have several options from a lite version V1.0 to my last version 4.0 with just about every area of the globe that was significant in this war.

of course Oslo is also nice but the more you can add the better it is. :-) Unfortunately I am absolutely a noob when it comes to Software. More the Hardware guy. :-)
This mod also needs "I don't want to set the world on fire" by Ink Spots. No better song to play while opening fire in early hours of September 1, 1939 ;)

I downloaded this and installed it with the mod installer.
When I go to the radio only two channels are present. Washington and the German stations.
What am i doing wrong?

bstanko6 I had problems too to install this. I couldn`t activate it as a mod, since when I wanted to add it in the MOD folder I got always error messages but I was able to manually add the folders in the RADIO Folder.
On my harddisk the MOD Folder is somehow replaced by a TWOS Folder where all the other TWOS mods are included. If I want to add this Radio Mod it is also giving me error messages.
But no big deal since I just copied your files and added them manually. Working fine.
bstanko6

I copied the radio.ini file that came with twos 2.2.10 and simply added the channels. Works for me. I'll have to take a look.

Only what was with TWOS
Exactly where should I place the your folder?

My mod is JSGME compatible. The issue is there is a file in it called radio.ini. This file is what separates channels and names them whrpen you hover your mouse over the radio in the GUI.
What I did was copied this file from the TWoS 2.2.10 radio located in data/sound/radio folder, and then added separate channels into it.
The only way you would have an issue with installation is if you have another mod that has different folders and events, because this one would overwrite it.
This is the first I'm hearing of this issue.

is the grammaphone file adding music or replacing? I like some of the standard songs.
bstanko6
03-08-19, 06:31 AM
I basically copied all songs including the ones that came with the radio, so it would be easier fir you guys to just dump the whole lot in.
Minor nitpick: there was no St. Petersburg at the time, the city was named Leningrad.

@kapuhy...
Oh jeez, the party pooper! Just kidding! Thanks for that I do apologize. For those that want to change it, you only need to rename the Folder, followed by going into the radio.ini, find St. Petersburg channel, and rename that to the folders new name. Simple fix.
