Optimized ARB WideGui 1920x1080 for WAC5.2 =
All the best enhancements available now for WAC5.2 in 1920x1080 resolution !

INSTALLATION :
1- copy your sh3.exe (already patched with h.sie) and
paste it in the mod in "Full Map and Chrono Patch" folder.
2-launch "FullMapAndChronoPatch.bat" to patch sh3.exe
3-copy now this same sh3.exe and paste it in the mod at same level as d3d9.dll and d3d9.ini
4- then activate the mod with jsgme. (Always after "WAC5 H.sie Supplement to V16B1")
ENHANCEMENTS FOR WAC5:
-Draggable and fonctional stopwatch wich can stay in position and start and stop everywhere in any screen.
-Strategic map F5 and attack map F6 displayed in FULL SCREEN.
-TDC button ON/OFF (Ctrl+T) added on Attack Periscope, on OBS Periscope and on UZO.
-Uboat compass rose when zooming at map F5 and F6 (if you don't want it delete data/Submarine folder)
-Video added in main screen
-Binoculars view : graduations deleted, it is easier to see planes (Wetzlar 7x50 nether had graduations at WW2)
-O2 h.sie gauge added (no more CO2 gauge)
-Canon deck : we can select all types of munition.
-More mouse shortcuts on left side panel (uzo, radio antenna, radar, flag)
-All wac5 screens are in the mod !
-Precise Zoom scroll view control from x1 to x12 ("ctrl + mouse wheel") on attack periscope, obs persicope and uzo (normal zoom levels without "Ctrl+mouse wheel" are unchanged)
-Salvo selector numbers visible at periscop view F3, at tdc view F6 and at uzo view.
New keyboards commands (english + german) and Help Menu F1 updated (english menu + german menu) with :
-Uzo view with "U"
-Fast time increase with "*"
-Enslave TDC at periscope on/off with "Ctrl+T"
-Identify target with "shift + L"
-Solution target with "ctrl + L"
-Depth under sub keel with "ctrl + C"
-Precise Zoom from x1 to x12 with "ctrl + mouse wheel" (see above)
-no more the repetitive written message "no officer at helm station" when raise up or down the attack periscope with "page up" or "page down" alone key
-RecManualPanel on left side of periscop view f3 : a summary of targets ships, indicates weaknesses of ships (if you don't want it, delete RecManualPanel in data/menu/gui)
-Orange marker on the surface when the sub is underwater (if you don't want it, delete UMark.tga in data/Misc)
-Karte 1 (convoy routes) on map F5 overview is in english writing (no more in russian writing)
-The second WAC5 mines map added at F5 map (top left clic and drag on marqued corner "M2")
+ OPTIONAL MODS in "optional" folder (copy in MODS and activate with jsgme):
-Color Dials with Dark Compass
-Color Dials with Light Compass
-Console without Swastika.
-Commandes clavier français WAC Optimized (for french players only)

If you mean functional draggable stopwatch from tycho, I have to edit menu_1024_768.ini and to test it.

Eric, one suggestion : when you make these improvements , it could be useful if you will also tell the name of the files that were modified so i can just replace those files without the need to uninstall/reinstall the entire mod .

I had not the time to see if i can add the fonctionnal button on/off on it.
Now time for me is to test wac5.2.

Check the torpedo charge. The electric G7e has one speed mode.

to use periscope raobf disks, you must select "manual shooting" in campaign options. if "automatic shooting" selected, you can't use raobf discs.
for other disks press F2 then left clic of shooting officer and with mouse go up of the screen.

You record bearings at *equal* time intervals (b1 @ t1, b2 @ t2, b3 @ t3).
You then subtract (b2 - b1) and (b3 - b1) and line up the two results on the disc. Where the two points line up, will identify the target's AOB at b1. Note that you need to be completely stopped for this to work. If you are moving, the result is angle on relative motion rather than AOB.

how to use this tool
--------------------
1.come to a dead stop.the u-boat must be totally stopped.
2.take the first bearing(B1) of the target and start the chronometer.
3. after x time (any time you want) take the second bearing(B2)
4.after EXACT x time take the third bearing(B3)(note:meaning, if your second bearing was taken after 30 minutes past then you will wait EXACTLY 30 minutes to take the third bearing )
5.calculate B2-B1 (difference between second and first bearing)
6.calculate B3-B1 (difference between third and first bearing)
7.now go to the aob tool.turn the inside disc until you line up the B2-B1 ON OUTSIDE disc WITH B3-B1 ON INSIDE disc
8.read the aob in the small window of the tool
IMPORTANT:the aob that you read is the aob at FIRST bearing.

i.the target must have move at least 5 degrees to take the second bearing.(B2-B1 must be larger than 5 degrees
ii.the tool is very sensitive.that means that if you see the target at 12,3 degrees this is the value that you will use (and don't say 12).the more exactly you are at the bearings...the more acurate will be the aob that you get
iii.with this tool ,you get only the aob(don't forget,..at first bearing),not the true course of target.all that you know by now is that the target is moving at a parallel line.when you calculate the distance ...you will be able to draw the true course of target

I have one question. I understood, x6 zoom isn't correct, so raob users have to take x5,4 or x10,8.
Is there a difference for using the rings if I use 5,4 zoom or 10,8? I know you have to do something a bit in another way if you used x1,5 zoom or x6 zoom in OLC. Is there something i have to be aware of with you zoomlevels?

Hi !
It seems that in ARB widegui measures at zoom x6 are correct for raobf discs use.
Attack Periscope :
at zoom x6, each graduation mark = 1
(example : if the high is 7 marks you have to take 7 on the raobf middle ring, lower numbers)
at zoom x12, you have to divide by 2 so each graduation mark = 0.5
(example : if the high is 7 marks you have to take 3.5 on the raobf middle ring, lower numbers)
and at zoom x1.5, you have to multiply by 4 so each graduation mark = 4
(example : if the high is 7 marks you have to take 28 on the raobf middle ring, lower numbers)
To train you, go to naval academy torpedo mission, there is a static ship in front of you at 800m
EDIT : I change max zoom level in Obs and Attack periscopes. Now with CTRL + mouse wheel, max zoom is x12 (no more 10.8)

For persicope RAOBF discs users, in ARB widegui, zoom at x1.5, x6 (and now x12) are functional and the measures are correct
With CTRL + mouse wheel, you can go to max zoom x12 in Obs periscope and Attack periscope. (normal zoom levels without "Ctrl+mouse wheel" are unchanged)

question regarding the RAOB Ring ... I'm missing the tactiles next to the crosshair like in the video you posted above. It's a bit hard to identify the right tactile. Is this a bug in may case?
I use the ring for all the measuring (speed, distance, AOB) so these tactiles are really important for me :salute:

For example in Makmans Gui you find tactiles at the middle lines after dropping the raob ring down.

Ok but it is easy to moove down the camera to have horizontal reticles on the ship (or on the line of water) lol.
Reticles on the middle were not in ww2 periscope uboat. (Raobf discs were not too, the use of them are only a fun option).
But i will see if it is possible to create an optional mod with the reticles from mackman. I will try to see if they are compatible with ARB widegui. But only an optional mod because the present reticles are more like the real ww2 uboat reticles...
(Same for binoculars reticles : in ww2 no reticle were present on the binoculars. So no reticle here too :-) )

As I already said it was just a question because many other guis have these rectiles. So I was a bit confused if they just miss in my installation of ur mod. I think there is no need for an extra optional mod, its ok how it is...
Idk whats realistic and what uboats had in ww2. But for me the raob disc feels more authentic then the stadimeter and less complicated then doing everything on the map. At least just my preference ;)

Ok no problem, but stadimeter was present in real uboat so its use in the game is a little more authentic as raobf dics. :-)
the use of the torpedo speed boards (or aob 90° boards) at F3 view are fine too (there are 3 boards 30knots-40knots -43knots). very easy : just calculate target speed and you can fire :-)
here a small good tuto for the fast use of raobf discs :
1-look at the target and retain the bearing "X" (don't lower the disks now but well retain the bearing)
2-then take the 2 measures fast enough (high and lenght of the ship) with the reticles at bearing "X" (raobf discs are not lowered so the persicope view is wider and the use of the reticles is easy)
3-then evaluate the speed of the target (not obligatory at bearing "X" you can take your time to good evaluate speed wich is the more important value, there are several ways to calcul speed for exemple with ujagd stopwatch is nice)
4-then go again to bearing "X" you were before (no matter if you don't see the mooved target in the periscope anymore), lower the raobf discs and calcul by taking your time value of distance and aob with the measures (high + lenght) you take before at point 2. when it is done raise raobf discs.
5-remain at bearing "X" periscope view, enslave OFF TDC, enter the 3 values (distance, aob, speed) in the TDC, enslave ON TDC.
Now you are ready to shoot the target whenever you want.

It is not compatible with lsh15 (it is for wac5.2) but you can try it with lsh15, the game will normally not crash (but you will have a lot of sreans and things displayed for wac5.2 instead of lsh15)
For the new LSH (release this or next year) perhaps i will do ARB widegui for LSH...

Hey Eric. Just to report some oddities of my install:
1. The long arm on my Attack Disc (the one shows proposed course to intercept) sometimes gets stuck. It will take a reload of mission to get it unstuck.
2. I still gets "no officer on helm" message. I am pretty sure I installed it correctly since everything else works fine.

1- For the disk, you still have a torpedo in the tube ? You have to :-)
2- Ctrl+page up and ctrl+page down are to activate uboat pegnants in base (anvar's mod) too. It is for this reason you have this message. If you delete theese commands, you will not can activate the pegnants but then no message any more. (You can do it yourself in the Commands_en.cfg file : at [Cmd418] delete Key0=0x22,Cc,"Ctrl+PgDn" and at [Cmd429] delete Key0=0x21,Cc,"Ctrl+PgUp" )
What I do in the mod is a compromise : keep the pegnants and reduce having the message.
I only deleted page up and page down alone key (as it is written in instructions). theese 2 alone commands dont work for uboat pegnants any more so no message when press on page up or page down alone key.

Hey Eric, I am a little confused about your first answer. I am talking about the longest pointer (needle) on the Attack Disc getting stuck (not able to move it around). So to get it unstuck, I need a torpedo in the tube?
Also, what are the default magnification levels for UZO (without using ctrl-mouse wheel)? There is no number on the scope.

yes to moove the needles (in particular the little) you need torpedo in tube and to moove the long needle (wich indicates the north at beginning) you have to go to periscopes or uzo and settle the view to the wanted bearing. then the long needle will indicate same bearing too.
2 zoom levels for uzo : x6 and x10
(with ctrl+mouse wheel, you can go freely from x1 to x12)

I finally got how it works. You need click on a loaded torp tube and unlock TDC from periscope. Then you can move any needles anywhere you want. By the way, can we build in some shortcut keys to move those needles? Sometime mouse jumps around.
Also, UZO at x6, the fifth tick mark=5 while the fifth tick mark=10 on periscope. So when I measure something on UZO, do I need divide it by 2?

Btw, how do you zoom in/out on the navigation map when the game is paused?There used to be 2 buttons for zooming, but now there is none on top. Is there a shortcut key? I know mouse scroll doesn't work on navigation map but it works on attack map.

Hi Eric,
Another quick issue. I think either RAOBF wheel is not calibrated right or some of the ship dimension info is wrong. Can you test several ships: Converted Whale factory, Small troop transport, Pyroeus Ammo Ship? They seem to give wrong range info or length of the ship is wrong. My gut feeling is the ship info in recognition manual is wrong.

It would be the best if we can have mouse scroll for zoom in/out for navigation map. I remember in the default game, mouse scroll can zoom in/out when game is paused.

Hi Eric,
Possible to add its own cross hairs with hash marks on RAOBF wheel? Like what we have in silent hunter 5. Currently, the periscopes and UZO all have hash marks on the left side and top. It's difficult to get a quick reading. With centrally located hash marks, it is much quicker and easier to get an accurate reading. I know in silent hunter 5, when you lower RAOBF wheel, it comes with its own crosshairs and hash marks.

For zooming, Ctrl + mouse wheel must work fine !
At periscope view, you can go at your will until x12 !
It is not normal that it does not work by you...

Can someone explain RAOBF use? It appears that it can only be used to measure AOB, or can it also be used to measure range and speed like previous ones in other GUIs?

Ok but it is easy to moove down the camera to have horizontal reticles on the ship (or on the line of water) lol.
Reticles on the middle were not in ww2 periscope uboat. (Raobf discs were not too, the use of them are only a fun option).
But i will see if it is possible to create an optional mod with the reticles from mackman. I will try to see if they are compatible with ARB widegui. But only an optional mod because the present reticles are more like the real ww2 uboat reticles...
(Same for binoculars reticles : in ww2 no reticle were present on the binoculars. So no reticle here too :-) )
Muy buena explicación. Al estar acostumbrado al mod "OLC" también pensé que era un error. Pero al probar "bajar" y "girar" el periscopio para medir al objetivo con las graduaciones los calculos de disparo eran correctos. No sabía el realismo de las graduaciones hasta que vi tu respuesta.
