I am a newbie in this game and just playing base game. Why do sometimes ai (either friendly or hostile) do silly thing? For example the enemy/friendly subs go in high speed and cavitating, and sometimes friendly units shooting torpedoes at me. (Sorry for my bad english)

Because the AI is silly :O:

I've never experienced friendly AI subs shooting at me, though. Have you looked at the replay or truth to see what's going on there? Is there an enemy very close to you or are you between a friendly and an enemy so it just appears there's a friendly shooting at you?

I have seen a ton of things in the game , some hilarious, some ridiculous, some just "Hmm.... huh?"

Can't say a friendly unit ever attacked me-- I'd be interested in hearing more specifics on that. Because I've been playing for 2+ years and that never happened.

I will say the game has nuances. For example- if you use the Mission Editor, you have to assign a "Tactic" to each unit. I have found that the only reliable "tactic" is the "Ladder Box" ... Almost all the others, "Random Box" , "Expanding Box" , "Perimeter Box" etc. seem to make the platform do absolutely *nothing* unless ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY ... whereas "Ladder Box" seems to make platforms (both offensive and defensive, or shall I say Own-team and Enemy-team) much more proactive and vigilant.

The other thing is, as some have pointed out to me, the AI does have limits. it just does. It's a video game. And it's a video game from a while back. You kind of figure out the nuances and types of ways the game plays , with experience, and adapt your gameplay.

But it's a very fun game to me. And can be an ABSOLUTELY TECHNICAL game 'simulation' if you want it to be.

Yes it happened to me once in an asw quick mission. I was driving a russian kilo and hunting an Indian kilo. I knew there was a friendly destroyer (in easy level) blaring pings, but then she shot torpedoes at me. When I saw replay with truth the enemy's kilo is in range about 3 nm from me.

Yes this game is fun, I bought it 2 months ago and now it become my one of my fav games besides flight simulator. I like complex and technical games.

Quick missions are broken:
- subs starts too close to eachother
- sometimes target is unavailable to kill (like satelite)

Only one kind of missions usually works good:
Screen escort + easy/medium difficult level for Perry (or any surf if you have RA mod)
Mostly but not always this missions are nice to play. If protected ship is too fast (20+ kts) re-run scenario.

You should tryout the RA mod. Improves the AI but do not expect miracles.
