Why are you a Browns fan?? Are you local or just a glutton for punishment?
I'm from Texas (don't live there anymore) and I started liking the Browns when Johnny Manziel (from Texas A&M) was playing for them as their QB. They just kept losing and I just kept praying. I always liked the under dog. They have to play the Saints this Sunday in New Orleans :o... so this will be a real test after a tie with Pittsburg last week.
I tried liking the San Francisco 49ers, but they just don't turn me on even with the New England trade for a new QB
Now I like the Los Angeles Chargers this year I think they have a real chance to go all the way.
Looking forward to Monday Night Football.
´cause Da Bears will take on Seahawks.
I hope Bears will do better this season.

What the heck does that mean? You hedging your bet there? I would... we always find a way to not win. I mean, we will win a game eventually, it's only be almost two years....
But with Gordon out for the game, I don't think they will, too easy to double up landry and shut down the passing game.

I thought the Saints defence was a little lax last week in Tampa Bay ... but it was mostly wishful thinking that I picked them. They've got to win someday. I think the last game they won was the last game of the 2016 season against the then San Diego Chargers won didn't care anyway cause it was their last game too and it was in Cleveland.
I don't get every game like they do on Direct TV I have Dish so I went ahead and ordered the NFL Red Zone channel to at least get the latest scores. It was $30 more so I went click with my mouse and now I can at least stay in touch with most of the games.
I love football ... it's the last true (non fake) thing left except for the NBA playoffs that is.
Today two of my tv-channel is broadcasting three NFL-match
The first one is scheduled to start at 1900 hour Danish Time
Vikings @ Packers
This one I'm going to see
Next match is
Patriots @ Jaguars
Same going to see it.
Third and last game of the day is
Giants @ Cowboys
This will be broadcastet during night time-Will not be able to watch it.
None of them are my favorite, so may best team win
or if some of these 6 teams be one of your team then I hope they will win.

Patriots @ Jaguars?
I'm starting to worry that I picked the wrong team (the Jaguars) to beat New England, but they (the Jaguars) did so good last week I went with them anyway.
30 minutes till showtime ... anyone else want to pick the winners?

Well apparently, Gordon showed up late to practice yesterday, with a supposed injury, and staff reported him acting weird, so now the Browns are done with him.
Multiple chances, multiple times. Sometimes you just got to cut your losses. It's a shame, as he had the potential to have a hall of fame esque career with his skill set.

Yes they will trade him or let Gordon go ... Not so sure he's that good or worth it ... He should've stayed, but he wanted out of his contract for sure and he got what he wanted. :yep:

Guess who's now looking for not only a win, but a new kicker too??
That's right....
3 missed Fg's and an extra point this week, one Fg missed last week..... yeah... not acceptable...
My boys didn't show up today. The Flowers injury was a problem but not the only one. The heat definitely was a factor too.

I thought it was over and wham Cleveland gets a touchdown with a little over a minute left and then wham they miss the extra point and it's just a tie and I thought well they will have a chance in overtime and wham the Saints get a free one ... game over.

I picked the Jaguars (I didn't want to, but I did) I thought they might have a chance being it was at home. :yep:

Gordon got another chance ... New England needs new blood
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/18/sports/josh-gordon-new-england-patriots.html
The Patriots have shown a willingness over the years to pick up discarded star wide receivers for low-round draft choices. Gordon is the latest, acquired in an unexpected trade with the Browns on Monday for a fifth-round pick.
Gordon had a sensational 2013 season with the Browns, leading the league in receiving yards and earning a Pro Bowl and all-league selection. But he has played only 11 games in the four seasons since, sidelined by several suspensions for substance abuse.

Shock, the football people that pick winners are picking the Browns over the Jets tomorrow night on Thursday night football September 20th (not available on all channels)
This should be a great game it's being played in Cleveland ... I'll go for the Browns one more time, after losing 17 games in a row they have to win someday. :yep:
https://nypost.com/2018/09/19/the-jets-are-ready-for-the-unthinkable-the-great-browns/
Yes, the Browns have not won a game since Dec. 24, 2016. Yes, they are 1-35-1 in their last 37 games. Yes, they have not been a playoff team since the Bush administration.
Just don’t tell the Jets about it.
“They’re a great team,” Jets tackle Kelvin Beachum said. “We don’t have time to be concerned with their record.”
Great?
That’s a little much, but the Browns have looked improved this year. They tied the Steelers in Week 1 to end their 17-game losing streak, which included an 0-16 season last year. Then, they fought the Saints down to the wire, losing a 21-18 heartbreaker.
As a result, the Browns are favored by three points over the Jets on Thursday night, just the second time in 35 games under coach Hue Jackson that Cleveland has appeared on the left side of the point spread.

Got to keep the faith ... I didn't even know who this guy Mayfield was till he came on the field with just a few minutes left in the first half. I know who he is now, a winner.
Wouldn't it be great if the Browns won the rest of their games this year and even go to the playoffs.
For those that don't know the Cleveland Browns won their first game since December 24th 2016 last night against the New York Jets 21-17.
Did you know that the first Monday night football game was played between the Browns and Jets back in 1970?
About being a fan of a team.
I have a lot more respect for a fan who support his or her team whatever the situations is during the season
Than a fan who drop their team because they start to loose.
Back to Sundays games.
Have taken notice from your picks.
Going to use them when I make this weeks Bet12 on this Danish betting page.

It's why i will never pick against the Patriots. They could be 50 point underdogs and i'd still pick them to win. Some day it might mean a regular -1 on my pick count but in the last 15 years it's been good to me. :)

Well.... He did win the Heisman last year and was the first pick overall....
Even though he only played a half a game, he's the first quarterback I've seen in a Browns uniform in 25 years that actually looked like he knew what he was doing. It's been that long.
What's amazing is that he hasn't played more than 30ish snaps with the first team. Total, ever. Once they get familiar with each other, they may actually be a competent team.

Well.... He did win the Heisman last year and was the first pick overall....
I know he was big, but I didn't know he was good ... I don't pay much attention to football except when it is the season. The QB for the NY Jets was rookie too and available in the same draft, but the Browns chose Mayfield. Finally they did something right.
Can you please explain how the Cleveland Browns owner became the owner after he had the Baltimore Colts taken away from him. I never understood that one.

I didn't know that he was, and I can't seem to find anything about him owning any part of the Colts.
He bought a percentage of the Steelers in 2008, but had to sell that to gain ownership of the Browns in 2012. Considering the Colts moved in 1982, I don't think he was into NFL ownership then.

Okay I was messed up ... it was the Browns controversial move to Baltimore that I was thinking of and the Browns have never been great again (till now)
"November 6, 1995, Browns owner Art Modell announced his intention to move Cleveland's team to Baltimore".
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Indianapolis_Colts
This decision helped set in motion the relocation of the Cleveland Browns to Baltimore. On November 6, 1995, Browns owner Art Modell announced his intention to move Cleveland's team to Baltimore. The decision also triggered a flurry of legal activity. Finally, representatives of both cities and the NFL reached a settlement on February 9, 1996. It stipulated that the Browns' name, colors, and history of the franchise were to remain in Cleveland. It kept the Browns legacy in Cleveland, and Modell took his players and organization to Baltimore, which would be officially regarded as an expansion team. After the Browns relocated to Baltimore, Modell offered the Irsay family $5 million for the rights to the Colts heritage. Jim Irsay replied that it would take at least $50 million to relinquish the Colts name. Therefore, the new Baltimore team was named the Ravens after a fan vote. The Ravens have since won Super Bowls following the 2000 and 2012 seasons.

Browns have never been great again (till now)
One win does not make us great. It just fills us with false hope, just to be crushed yet again, dashed upon the rocks that guard the shores of decency.

3rd Down convers-something and then some numbers 5/19 and an another but I didn't get it.
What does this mean ?

Aight....
In American Hand Egg, when a team gains control of the ball, they have 4 attempts to move the ball at least 10 yards (about 10 meters). If they successfully move the ball 10 yards within those 4 tries, and have not scored, they get another 4 tries. And so on.
If, after 4 tries, they have not moved the ball 10 yards, the opposing team gains control of the ball where it lies. And since a team usually starts from within their half of the field, that would make it easy for the opposing team to score. So, at any time they feel they cannot earn those 10 yards, a team may elect to kick the ball away to force the other team to start farther down the field.
Each try is called a 'down'. Usually a team will kick the ball (punt) on fourth down. So that really only gives them 3 real downs to move the ball 10 yards. The ability to move the ball past the 10 yard mark on third down and get a new set of downs, is called a "third down conversion".
Usually by the time the team gets to 3rd down, they are fairly close to having moved the ball 10 yards, so 3rd down conversions is a decent statistic when looking at the offense's effectiveness.
A team with a high 3rd down conversion rate stays on the field longer, increasing their chances of scoring. While a team with a low rate, the opposite is true.

From what I understand from your explanation, these numbers 5/19

Among all these 10 yards attempt team A have 19 3rd down conversion and team B have manage to interrupt 5 of them.
If this is not correct then enlighten me.

Nope, you got it backwards. Team A has had 19 3rd downs, and has been able to convert 5 of them. I'm not current on what is a good ratio, but ~27% is pretty bad I think.

Yeah not as bad as they get but pretty bad although for comparison the high end of the scale is well less than 50%. Minnesota for example led the league last season at 44.72%

Tonight is Thursday Night football live on Fox channel
Minnesota Vikings vs Los Angeles Rams to be played in LA
I'll disagree with this statement that it will be one of the best games yet.
The Vikings just lost to the Buffalo Bills who were just beat by the LA Chargers the week before that and the LA Rams just beat the LA Chargers last Sunday in Los Angeles.

It’s been 26 years since the Rams hosted the Vikings in Los Angeles, but that’s what will happen tonight as we’re in for one of the best (on paper) Thursday Night Football games this season.
The 3-0 Rams will look to stay hot against the surprisingly 1-1-1 Vikings, who fell to the Bills last week at home in Minnesota.
I'll go with the Los Angeles Rams on this one

Chucky was seen comforting every player that did something wrong yesterday in LA losing to LA Chargers 10 to 26
The two shockers where two OT games with Baltimore and Cleveland with Cleveland winning by a field goal

When the owner is second-guessing the coach, you know the coach is on the hot seat.
So it’s no surprise, after Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said coach Jason Garrett should have gone for it on fourth-and-1 in overtime on Sunday night, that Garrett is the odds-on favorite to be the first coach fired this season

LONDON — If the Raiders lose to the Seahawks, their season is effectively over. It might already be.
But to keep the slimmest of hopes alive for a monumental turnaround under Jon Gruden, the Raiders (1-4) need to put on a show for the Wembley Stadium fans when the NFL takes center stage in London at 6 p.m. local time (10 a.m. PST) on Sunday.

Brady was caught behind the line of scrimmage by a KC lineman and still made a touchdown and then KC gets a special teams touchdown and then New England makes another touchdown and then KC gets at touchdown in only 12 seconds and then with time running out New England kicks a field goal to win the game :o

Yeah we did manage to prevail although as usual it came down to the final seconds. God bless Tom Brady, but our defense needs to ramp it up. We can't keep letting opponents score that many points against us if we're going to go back to the big dance.

I'm not so sure that New England will get home field advantage in the playoff's this year ... they might lose a couple of more games and have to play KC in KC even though they beat KC, but if KC keeps winning their record will be better.

No question there.

An argument can and has been made that hockey is almost as punishing as football. Especially when they have 84 games, plus a zillion playoffs, and football has at worst 20.
But it also comes down to marketing. High school football is mostly firday nights, college is Saturday, and pro is Sunday. They added Monday and Thursday nights as time went on, but having all your football on one day makes it an event every week. This just drives up the mania surrounding each game, and gives the pundits time to discuss the inane aspects of the game over the week.

Here's a shocker and one I am looking forward to the Rams and KC meet next Monday night on ESPN's Monday Night Football.
The game is suppose to be played in Mexico (in Mexico City), but the field is in such bad shape they might move the game to LA.

Much to the dismay of many Los Angeles Rams’fans, it seems as though each year’s schedule includes a “home” game that winds up somewhere far, far from California. And that is once again the case in Week 11 of the 2018 season as the Rams play “host” to the Kansas City Chiefs at Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca.

To be honest I'm not watching so much NFL anymore.

All three of the NFL's Thursday games this week
NFC North tilt between the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears 12:30 p.m. ET, CBS
could go a long way in securing Windy City's place above the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers heading into December
The second game, between the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins 4:30 p.m. ET, Fox,
just might determine who wins the NFC East.
And the prime-time rematch of the Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints 8:20 p.m. ET, NBC,
represents one of the former's final chances at staying alive against perhaps the NFL's hottest offense

Who hasn't won seven straight against us? I mean, for the first time in 30 years, the Browns finally have a little swagger to them. They might lose now, but they are playing well. They have a young defense that might develop into something great, and an offense that has the potential to do the same with a couple additions. So let them have a little fun and swagger.
And when asked if the ex coach would help the bengals win, the answer being a simple "No", is the complete truth. It already looks like a different team, deploying different packages, so most of his knowledge wouldn't even apply to current team.

Not sure which is funnier? Angry Mike McCarthy's face or lunchmeat Rodgers 1000 yard stare.:har:
McCarthy looked liked a tomato that was about to explode.
...and Lunch-meat's look on his face.... He had that look like "I could have stayed home, cooked a frozen pizza, drank a bottle of JD and watched house hunters."
Aaron Rodgers does make great commercial's though and he just donated one (1) million dollars to the Camp fire in Northern California so he can't be all bad
Cleveland is on a roll :yep:
https://www.cleveland.com/browns/2018/11/cleveland-browns-how-should-gregg-williams-be-viewed-terry-pluto.html
Cleveland owners Dee and Jimmy Haslam and General Manager John Dorsey decided to end the debate by firing both men and turning the team over to defensive coordinator Gregg Williams.
I doubt any one of the Browns' top people expected such a quick and dramatic turnaround.
The Browns are 2-1 under Williams. They are on a two-game winning streak and the victories over Atlanta (28-16) and Cincinnati (35-20) have been their most impressive games since the 2014 season.
I think the real game this week will be the Los Angeles Chargers at the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night Football on NBC ...
should be a game a lot like the play offs might be :yep:

Unlike the past 20 years, when we've been looking for a new coach, this time we have most of the pieces in place already. A young QB and RB that seem to have the potential to do great things, a D that is young and talented, and a GM who has an eye for talent and is willing to get that talent. So instead of us looking for a coach to turn everything around, we're now just looking for the right man to take the helm and continue the voyage.
I'm currently thinking that if Williams continues to improve the team, he should be given a serious shot at HC next year. Make it an extended interview. One year deal with team options for more.

^ Cleveland looks better and better all the time. It may sound crazy but I expect The Cleveland Browns to go at least 8-8 next season. Quarterback Baker Mayfield is the real deal. The pieces are there for a great season next year. The long suffering Cleveland fans are loyal and support the Browns every year and deserve a winning team.

Well, Mayfield finally had a bad game. He seemed to learn from it and play better in the second half, so there's that.
What are the chances that KC rests Mahommes for the final week or so? Or will they let a young QB continue to play and learn and rack up some stats?

CLEVELAND — The Green Bay Packers fired head coach Mike McCarthy on Sunday, after a loss to the ****less Arizona Cardinals. Despite a hapless season in Wisconsin, McCarthy is heavily rumored to be a lead candidate for the vacant head coaching position in Cleveland.
Both the Packers and Cleveland Browns lost on Sunday, and now sport identical 4-7-1 records. Yet the narrative surrounding both franchises couldn't be more different.
Man that was one good game last night in Pittsburg

Packers
Fired: Mike McCarthy on Dec. 2.
Despite having a generational talent at quarterback in Aaron Rodgers, the Packers have gone just 4-10-1 in their past 15 games dating to last season and 18-18-1 in Rodgers’s last 37 starts dating to Christmas Day 2015. The final straw came Sunday in a listless 24-17 loss at home to the Cardinals. Shortly afterward, the team fired McCarthy, who is more or less the only NFL head coach Rodgers has ever played under (Mike Sherman was in his final year as the team’s coach when Green Bay drafted Rogers in 2005, but he threw only 16 passes while backing up Brett Favre as a rookie).

The Browns are still in the running they beat the Panthers and the Steelers lost to Oakland Raiders of all people and the Ravens lost to KC (but played a great game) too ... :yep:
This is why August is so frustrated :yep:
New England lost to Miami yesterday with time running out on the last play on one crazy throw the ball back twice and beat the tight end to the end zone.

Here's the last three games for the AFC North .. I seriously doubt Cleveland will still be there when the smoke clears.
There is a rumor that New England might not even make the playoffs this year if they lose to Pittsburgh this Sunday and Pittsburgh needs this game bad to make up for losing their last three games to all teams the Oakland Raiders :o
The AFC North
Pittsburgh Steelers (7-5-1)
Last three games
Patriots
Saints
Bengal's
Baltimore Ravens (7-6)
Last three games
Tampa Bay,
Los Angeles Chargers
Cleveland
Browns (5-7-1) they could end up with an 8-7-1 record if they win their
last three games
Denver
Bengal's
Baltimore
but would lose to Pittsburgh in tie

Los Angeles Chargers are 10-3 and the KC Chiefs are 11-2

With only three games left in the NFL regular season, the playoff picture has simultaneously become clearer and more chaotic.
Despite all the chaos, oddsmakers still believe that three NFL teams stand above the rest as NFL favorites. The New Orleans Saints, Los Angeles Rams and Kansas City Chiefs are once again at the top of Super Bowl betting odds, according to Vegas Insider. All three teams have identical 11-2 records.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Los Angeles Chargers spent the entire season chasing the Kansas Chiefs.
And with an opportunity to catch the Chiefs in the race for AFC West title, Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn played winner-take-all -- his team converting a two-point conversion with 4 seconds remaining to knock off Kansas City 29-28 on Thursday night.

Game of the day coming up with Pittsburgh Steelers vs New England Patriots.
Both teams have to win ... the game is on right now on CBS out of Pittsburg
The (9-4) New England Patriots are on the road against the (7-5-1) Pittsburgh Steelers and they need a victory in order to keep pace with the Houston Texans for one of the AFC’s first round byes.

Down to just one more week ... KC at Seattle tonight KC has to win to win the AFC West and Seattle has to win to win any hope of being in the playoffs.
Playoffs! Did someone say Playoffs?
AFC: Who's in
1. (x) Kansas City Chiefs (11-3)
The Chiefs play at Seattle on Sunday night with a chance to lock up the No. 1 seed after the Chargers lost to the Ravens on Saturday night.
2. (y) New England Patriots (10-5)
The Patriots didn't stomp the Bills and Tom Brady didn't look particularly good, but they won handily enough and moved to 10-5. And, more importantly, they got a game on the Texans because of Houston's loss to Philly. New England now just has to beat the Jets at home in Week 17 to secure a first-round bye. The Patriots don't need lucky breaks, but they're getting them anyway.
3. Houston Texans (10-5)
The Texans put together an incredible comeback against the Eagles only to cough up the lead shortly after they got it, allowing Philly to march down and kick a game-winning field goal. The result is the Texans falling to 10-5 and sitting just one game up on the Colts, who can now steal the division. If the Texans lose to the Jaguars in Week 17, the winner of Indy/Tennessee would take the AFC South title and the No. 3 seed.
4. Baltimore Ravens (9-6)
What a win by the Ravens, who were able to continue leaning on the rushing attack thanks to their defense completely shutting down the Chargers' dangerous offense. Not only are the Ravens in position for a playoff spot heading into the final week, they could be leading the division come Monday if the Steelers fall to the Saints.
5. (x) Los Angeles Chargers (11-4)
The Chargers couldn't figure out how to solve the Ravens defense on Saturday night in L.A., falling 22-10 against the Ravens one week after beating the Chiefs and throwing the AFC West race into doubt. Now the Chargers will need to win in Week 17 and hope the Chiefs lose their final two games; otherwise, they'll be the five seed and hitting the road on Wild Card Weekend.
6.Indianapolis Colts (9-6): The Colts stormed back late against the Giants, giving them new life in their pursuit of the Texans for the division title and in pursuit of the Ravens for the wild card. The Colts need to beat the Titans in Week 17 and get some help in order to get in the postseason
AFC: Who's out
7. .Tennessee Titans (9-6): The Titans rallied against the Redskins on Saturday despite losing starting quarterback Marcus Mariota, taking the lead with less than five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter before a pick-six secured a 25-16 win. If the Steelers lose in New Orleans and fall to 8-6-1, the Titans will get the chance to make the playoffs with a win over the Colts in Week 17.
8. Pittsburgh Steelers (8-6-1)
The Steelers have a tough test ahead on Sunday in New Orleans, and now a loss will mean falling out of the playoff picture altogether after the Ravens upset the Chargers in L.A. on Saturday.
AFC: Who's Eliminated
9. Cleveland Browns (7-7-1)
10. Miami Dolphins (7-8)
11. Denver Broncos (6-8)
12. Cincinnati Bengals (6-9)
13. Buffalo Bills (5-10)
14. Jacksonville Jaguars (5-10)
15. New York Jets (4-11)
16. Oakland Raiders (3-11)
NFC: Who's in
1. (y) New Orleans Saints (12-2)
The Saints won ugly on Monday night and can lock up the No. 1 seed with a win over the Steelers on Sunday.
2. (y) Los Angeles Rams (11-3)
The Rams have lost two straight and are in danger of falling out of positioning for a first-round bye, but they get to head to Arizona as huge favorites for a matchup with the Cardinals.
3. (y) Chicago Bears (10-4)
The Bears are hitting their stride, but they'll get tested in San Francisco against a 49ers team that has been impressive at home as of late.
4. (y) Dallas Cowboys (9-6)
The Cowboys needed to get right on Sunday against the Buccaneers, and even though they let Tampa in the back door and only won by a touchdown, they still came away with the win and secured the NFC East division title. That's massive for a team that had Philadelphia breathing down its neck. Jason Garrett's extension is forthcoming.
5. Seattle Seahawks (8-6)
The Seahawks just dropped one game; another and they could be in trouble. Unfortunately for Pete Carroll's team, a tough test awaits on Sunday night with the Chiefs coming to town.
6. Minnesota Vikings (8-6-1)
The Vikings put together another convincing win on Sunday, going on the road and putting a hurting on the Lions with a combination of the running game and defense. Famed reindeer namesake Kyle Rudolph had a huge Christmas, catching a pair of touchdown passes along with 121 receiving yards to give the Vikings a major edge at making the playoffs.
NFC: Who's out
7. Philadelphia Eagles (8-7): The Eagles won in semi-miracle fashion on Sunday afternoon, kicking a late field goal to keep their playoff hopes alive. They're the only team that can steal a playoff spot: they need the Seahawks to lose out (Chiefs Sunday night, Cardinals next week) or the Vikings to lose to the Bears in Week 17 along with the Eagles winning against the Redskins next week.
NFC: Who's Eliminated
8. Washington Redskins (7-8)
9. Green Bay Packers (6-8-1)
10. Atlanta Falcons (6-9)
11. Carolina Panthers (6-9)
12. New York Giants (5-10)
12. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-10)
14. Detroit Lions (5-10)
15. San Francisco 49ers (4-10)
14. Arizona Cardinals (3-11)

but we can't be choosy now can we? :D
The Saints are the best in the NFL right now ... they could go all the way to Atlanta in February :yep:
Last night was the last Monday Night football game for the season and the last time the Raiders may play in Oakland. They won too 27-14 against Denver
If Monday night’s game was the last time the Raiders play in the Oakland Coliseum, they gave the place a proper sendoff with a win against a bitter rival.
The Raiders beat the Broncos 27-14 for their fourth win of the season, after jumping out to a 17-0 lead.
They had one heck of a 99 yard touchdown too from a botched punt by Denver that landed on the one yard line. Raiders fielded it and ran 99 yards for their first touchdown.
Rumor is that Denver is not happy with their coach Vance Joseph and he use to be a defensive backs coach with the Bengals from 2014-2015 and the team still has "an interest in him ... :yep:

The big game is the Colts vs Titans on Sunday Night Football NBC
The winner takes all to the playoffs and the loser goes home ...
The Vegas odds have Tennessee by 3 points
Another game to watch is Oakland at KC ... probably KC will win, but if they lose and
the LA Chargers beat Denver then Chargers become the AFC winner
and KC becomes a also ran, but still get in the playoffs.
Another one is New England vs the Jets
New England is favored by 17 points and win a bye week if they win

I had said earlier this season that I believed that the Cleveland Browns would be a .500 team this Season with 8 wins. In fact, the Browns are 7-7-1 and already doing that this season. The Browns play the Baltimore Ravens tomorrow with a chance for a winning record this season. :Kaleun_Thumbs_Up:
Further, Browns Quarterback, Baker Mayfield is 3 touchdown passes away from breaking Peyton Manning's rookie record.
Mayfield has thrown 24 touchdowns this season.
Manning threw 26 touchdowns during his rookie season 20 years ago and Wilson tied that record his first year in 2012.
Manning threw 28 interceptions during his rookie season, compared to Mayfield who only threw 11.
Wilson and Manning played in every game during their rookie season, where Mayfield didn't see action until the third week of the season.
Mayfield has a chance to beat the record Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens.
https://www.news5cleveland.com/sports/browns/baker-mayfield-3-touchdowns-away-from-breaking-peyton-mannings-rookie-record

I think by most accounts then, it could be said Mayfield has had a better season then, fewer games, better td/int ratio, and turmoil within the system.
Get them a #1 receiver, doesn't have to be a pro bowl type player, but some one who can stretch the field, and a couple other tools, and these guys are going to be tough.
With pittsburgh crumbling, Baltimore kind of rebuilding, and Cincy being cleveland, The browns might just rule the roost for a bit.

Yes, I forgot about the Ravens/Browns game ... not sure what would happen if the Browns won, but they beat the Ravens back in Oct something like 12 to 9 before Mayfield got his better ratings.
I hear Browns Mayfield was the Heisman trophy winner in 2017 and the Ravens QB Jackson was the winner in 2016 and boy does he like to run.
Should be a good game, but like I said not sure what happens if the Ravens lose does it help the Pittsburgh Steelers?
https://www.cleveland.com/browns/2018/12/baker-mayfield-to-end-his-rookie-season-with-a-bang-against-the-ravens-vaunted-no-1-ranked-defense.html
The Browns’ 29th-ranked defense, which held the Ravens’ in check in a 12-9 Browns overtime victory on Oct. 7, has something to prove again this time around.
“You just have to outplay them the way we did last time,’’ said safety Damarious Randall. “Last time we played them here, the score was 9-12. I think it’s going to come down to same type of football. Whichever defense can make that play in the fourth quarter, I feel like that’s who is going to win the game.”

^ For the Pittsburgh Steelers to get into the playoffs, they have to beat the Cincinnati Bengals and hope the Cleveland Browns beat The Baltimore Ravens. The Steelers can still be a wild-card, if they beat the Bengals and the Colts and Titans tie. It matters not if the Steelers get in though. If you have to back into the playoffs like the Steelers are trying to do, you won't go far in the playoff's anyhow. Likewise for the Raven's chances.
With the San Diego Chargers, Kansas City Chiefs, New England Patriots and Houston Texans in the AFC, the playoffs figure to play host to some fun games as all these teams look good.
With a few more decent, offensive player draft choices, as Gargamel said, the Browns may well be a force in the AFC North next season.

Play offs!
Did someone say play offs?
https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2813067-nfl-playoff-picture-2019-dissecting-afc-nfc-scenarios-before-final-games
For the final time this year, Sunday will be filled with NFL regular-season action.
The AFC has three division races still unfolding, and the final NFC playoff spot is also up for grabs.
It could definitely be an eventful Sunday if certain scenarios unfold.
AFC Playoff Picture
1. Kansas City Chiefs* (11-4)
2. New England Patriots* (10-5)
3. Houston Texans* (10-5)
4. Baltimore Ravens (9-6)
5. Los Angeles Chargers* (11-4)
6. Indianapolis Colts (9-6)
In the Hunt
7. Tennessee Titans (9-6)
8. Pittsburgh Steelers (8-6-1)
NFC Playoff Picture
1. New Orleans Saints* (13-2)
2. Los Angeles Rams* (12-3)
3. Chicago Bears* (11-4)
4. Dallas Cowboys* (9-6)
5. Seattle Seahawks* (9-6)
6. Minnesota Vikings (8-6-1)
In the Hunt
7. Philadelphia Eagles (8-7)
*Indicates team has clinched playoff berth
Uncertainty Atop the AFC
The Kansas City Chiefs enter Week 17 as the No. 1 seed, but if one scenario unfolds, they could end up as the No. 5 seed playing a road matchup during the wild-card round.
If the Chiefs lose to the Oakland Raiders and the Los Angeles Chargers beat the Denver Broncos on Sunday, then the Chargers would ascend to the No. 1 seed, swapping places with the Chiefs.

The Cleveland Browns didn't quite make it to a .500 season. However, the Browns did post a 7-8-1 record after going 0-16 in 2017.
Quote : Mayfield completed 23 of 42 passes for 376 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions against the league's No. 1 defense on Sunday with three passing scores in Sunday's 26-24 loss to the Baltimore Ravens (http://www.nfl.com/teams/baltimoreravens/profile?team=BAL), theCleveland Browns (http://www.nfl.com/teams/clevelandbrowns/profile?team=CLE) quarterback surpassed Peyton Manning and Russell Wilson (http://www.nfl.com/player/russellwilson/2532975/profile) as the only rookie to throw 27 passing touchdowns.
Mayfield broke the record in the fourth quarter on a 1-yard pass to Antonio Callaway (https://www.nfl.com/prospects/antonio-callaway?id=32462018-0002-5601-48e6-bb3f7a8ed488).
It was Mayfield's ninth game this season with at least two passing TDs. Unlike Manning and Wilson, Mayfield did not start all 16 games in order to achieve this record. He started 13 games after taking over for an injured Tyrod Taylor (http://www.nfl.com/player/tyrodtaylor/2495240/profile) just before halftime in Week 3.
Cleveland's offense turned around almost immediately upon the insertion of Mayfield in that game, a 21-17 win over the New York Jets (http://www.nfl.com/teams/newyorkjets/profile?team=NYJ), hit a lull before Hue Jackson was fired, and then reached its peak once offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens took over playcalling. Mayfield flourished under Kitchens, tossing 19 of his 27 touchdowns after Week 8.

The Cleveland Browns were just 57 yard away when the QB threw a low pass that was intercepted or they would've won by one point.
It was Tennessee that blew it against a very strong Indianapolis Colts with the Colts going on to the play off's in the last seed.
I'm leaning towards the LA Chargers beating the Baltimore Ravens in Baltimore Sunday and going maybe back to KC to finish them off to play New England in LA, because the Chargers have a better record.
Wouldn't that be a hoot? :haha:

This just seems wrong to me ... we already have suspected referee calls in NFL games. I hope this doesn't ruin the game.
Caesars is one of my favorite casino's too, especially it's buffet.
sponsorship starts immediately, with this postseason
https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/the-nfl-now-has-an-official-casino-sponsor/ar-BBRLewM
There was a time when the NFL did everything in its power to distance itself from gambling. That time wasn’t too long ago, but it feels like the distant past.
Today the NFL took another step toward a full-on embrace of gambling by announcing that Caesars Entertainment Corporation is the league’s first ever official casino sponsor.
The sponsorship starts immediately, with this postseason, and will allow Caesars to use NFL trademarks to promote its casinos at events like the Super Bowl and NFL draft. Caesars will host events at the 2020 draft, which takes place in Las Vegas as part of the NFL’s full-on embrace of America’s gambling mecca, where the Raiders will begin to play next year.
Seven NFL teams — the Falcons, Ravens, Bears, Colts, Saints, Raiders and Eagles — already have relationships with Caesars. And now the league is getting in bed with the casino company as well.

Alrighty now. Are you ready for a rumble ? :)
The NFL playoffs get underway this weekend. Does anyone have any thoughts on the 2 teams to represent their conferences in the Superbowl ? I haven't looked at the Vegas line as they have been wrong a lot this past season and it's no fun to just " follow the crowd."
The New England Patriots are always in the thick of things and compete every year but I'm thinking in the AFC, It will be the Chargers of San Diego to play for it all.
In the NFC, the St Louis Rams have looked strong so they have my vote.
Mr. Quatro has been pretty good on prognostications this season so over to you and everyone else.....

I fell asleep at half time and woke up for the fourth quarter ... yes that was the best game of the day/weekend with the Eagles 4th quarter last minute comeback for a touchdown on 4th down no less and only 56 seconds left for the Bears to get down the field to be even able to win the game with a field goal and then the kick misses the mark and hits the goal post.

little things like the little piece of Cody Parkey’s 43-yard field-goal attempt to win the game that reserve defensive lineman Treyvon Hester appears to have gotten, which may have redirected the kick just enough to clang off the left upright, then bounce off the crossbar, and back into the end zone, no good.

The Patriots overcame a rough start this season and a few hiccups but seem to be peaking at the right time. The Kansas City Chiefs have looked good all season. The Patriots and Chiefs game should be a great game. Regardless of who wins, The AFC should be well represented in the Superbowl with either of these teams. The Rams and Saints game should be great as well. I don't think I could pick a winner out of any four of these teams.

Sunday will be like two (2) Super Bowls with Rams vs Saints in a covered dome and then later (at night no less) in Kansas City with a big snow storm coming Saturday the KC Chiefs will play the New England Patriots, who are not use to losing in post season.
What is this one 8 out of 9 conference games now losing to Denver several years ago I do believe?

Commissioner has authority to take action over Rams-Saints outcome, in theory
So what can the NFL do about the outcome of the Rams-Saints game? Probably nothing. Bad calls happen. Sometimes, bad calls have bigger consequences than others.
Still, there’s language in the rulebook that could, in the right circumstances, allow the Commissioner to take extreme action in the face of a grossly unfair result.
Consider Rule 17, Section 2, Article 1: “The Commissioner has the sole authority to investigate and take appropriate disciplinary and/or corrective measures if any club action, non-participant interference, or calamity occurs in an NFL game which the Commissioner deems so extraordinarily unfair or outside the accepted tactics encountered in professional football that such action has a major effect on the result of the game.”
Even though Rams defensive back Nickell Robey-Coleman admits that he opted to wipe out Saints receiver Tommylee Lewis because Robey-Coleman believed he’d been beaten for a touchdown, it’s hard to imagine this being the kind of “extraordinarily unfair” act that would have a major effect on the outcome of the game. Then again, the rule is there for a reason; if ever it would be invoked, wouldn’t now be the time to do it?

KC could've won that one if the rules were changed for OT in the playoffs only :yep:
Patriots win another playoff OT coin toss, spark questions about fairness of NFL rules
Patriots now 3-for-3 in playoff OT coin tosses
It was the first of three overtime playoff games for the Patriots in the Brady/Bill Belichick dynasty. Each time, the Patriots won the overtime coin toss. And each time, the Patriots offense took care of business on the field to secure the victory before the opposing offense had a chance to take the field in the extra session.

Patriots win another playoff OT coin toss, spark questions about fairness of NFL rules
Didn't they recently change the OT rules by forcing the team with first possession to score a TD instead of just a FG to end the game? What else would you suggest?
Also from that Yahoo article.
There’s no perfect solution to deciding overtime football games in a fair manner. But a rule that doesn’t give both teams an equal chance to possess the ball in a win-or-go-home situation is not the correct one.
https://sports.yahoo.com/patriots-win-another-playoff-ot-coin-toss-spark-questions-fairness-nfl-rules-053957805.html
Thing is both teams did have an equal chance to possess the ball. That is what the coin toss is all about.

How about another quarter without the coin toss just like when time runs out on the third quarter it becomes fourth quarter.
So whoever had the ball at the end of the fourth quarter would still have the ball and the game plays for another 15 minutes only on playoff games. :yep:

Yes it is definitely Sudden Death but the problem is that the game doesn't allow both sides to score immediately. One side has to start out defending against the others point scoring drive.

I don't know, but the KC defence did not harm Brady and the 15 yard penalty allowed them to continue on and win the game. Another penalty robbed KC of the whole game before OT with a lineman lining up wrong and the same play was an interception that would've ended the game in KC's favor.
New England did play a better game though with Brady getting all of his usual attention.

In my opinion, There's two options that make sense for OT. Play a full quarter (or one of reduced length), or go with the College Rules.
True Sudden Death, or the version they're feeding us now, doesn't work for a possession based game. It makes complete sense for a low scoring sport with very fluid possession changes, like hockey. Basketball is too high scoring for sudden death, so they play another full period. But not only does football have regimented possessions, but it's a middle of the road as far as scoring goes. They need to find a format that offers each team a fair chance to score, but do it quickly. The college rules not only offer a balanced resolution, but those OT's can be really exciting.

That's not a judgment call the refs should make bad as it was. Their job is to call the plays by the rules.

As soon as the New England Patriots beat the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday in the AFC Championship game to stamp their ticket to Super Bowl 53, prices on secondary ticketing sites fell. And they have kept falling in the days since.
Across ticket resale sites, average prices for the game this year, as well as “get-in” prices (the cheapest ticket you can buy) were $500 to $1,000 lower on Wednesday than in recent years at this time, 10 days before the game.
In a normal year, Super Bowl ticket prices on resale sites spike after Championship weekend when the games end and we all learn the matchup, and then they start to go down steadily in the week before the game. (The exception was 2015, infamous in the ticketing industry, when the Patriots faced the Seattle Seahawks in Phoenix, Ariz., and demand never waned as it normally does, and many ticket resellers ended up in the red because they had over-sold tickets they did not have.)
This year, prices are already plummeting. On secondary market site TickPick, the get-in price as of Wednesday afternoon was $3,120 compared to the $3,680 at this time last year, and the average price was $5,790 compared to $6,514 at this time last year.

But I have things to take care during the day, so I have to wait until tomorrow evening after dinner, before I can sit down and watch the game and the chance for knowing the result is high, very high.

Well, it appears there's some justice in this world after all. :yep:
Rams only scored 3 points??? The Saints might've still lost, but they almost certainly would've scored more than 3 points. :D
And the overnights are saying it was the lowest rated game in the last ten years. :haha:
Karma is a b***h. And apparently she's a Saints fan.
The only downside: Another year of hearing how Brady, Belichek, and the Patriots are God's gift to football again.

One of those Saints fans must of put a spell on the Rams ... It was voodo man.
They dropped two passes that could of been touch downs and their last pass was intercepted close to the goal line. Lowest scoring game for a Super Bowl in its history.
Bored and tired I went to bed early :o

Roger Goodell, commissioner of the NFL has released a few statements in connection with the New Orleans Saints being robbed in the NFC Championship Game against the Rams. Goodell lied when he said he spoke with New Orleans Saints players. Goodell, when confronted, admitted he never spoke with the Saints players. I think instant replay should be used in any situation where Roger Goodell addresses the media.
Quote: One complaint from Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards resulted in a letter from Goodell. Roger Goodell says NFL will review procedures
Goodell’s letter, posted on Louisiana’s government site (http://gov.louisiana.gov/assets/images/Goodell-Response-2019.pdf), says the NFL basically couldn’t do anything but will take a look into its officiating procedures to avoid a similar situation in the future.
“I fully understand your personal disappointment, and the disappointment and frustration of Saints fans throughout the country,” Goodell wrote in the letter, dated Feb. 6 (via the New Orleans Times-Picayune (https://www.nola.com/news/2019/02/roger-goodell-responds-to-john-bel-edwards-complaint-about-nfc-championship-game.html)). According to the Times-Picayune, in January Edwards wrote a letter to Goodell that stated, in part: “By missing the obvious, blatant and intentional penalty at the end of the game, the referees in Sunday’s game undermined that expectation and unfortunately were allowed to determine the winner.”

This situation begs the question. Why should anyone next season, watch NFL games where the officials are intentionally and blatantly deciding the outcome of the games played ? Shouldn't the games be decided by the skills of the players on both sides ?
I know sports betting is legal now at various outlets around the U.S. I have an idea. Maybe there should be bets on whether the officials will cheat a team of a win or how many bad or blatant calls it can make in a game.
That might make things more interesting but I think I'm done. Although I'm not a fan of NHL Commissioner, Gary Bettman, I have never seen horrible calls like this in the NHL. Hockey is still the best. :yep:

I heard a rumor that Roger Goodell, commissioner of the NFL, lied and said that he had talked with the coach and the players of the New Orleans Saints about the missed call in the NFC championship game ... when in fact he had not talked to them.
Perhaps the NFl needs new commissioner?

The NFL has already decided upon two Thanksgiving Day matchups, settling on the Chicago Bears against the Detroit Lions and the Miami Dolphins versus the Dallas Cowboys.

With regards to a new NFL Commissioner, I can't remember a more inept Commissioner. I also can't think of anything that Roger Goodell has done to better or enhance the NFL or it's image. Goodell's failure to address the “ Fixing “ of games may well have cost him a number of football fans as well. When you start to lose your fan base and the revenue associated with ticket and cable access to games, you're going in the wrong direction.
The Saints are not “ lily white “ either. The Saints were disciplined for “ bountygate . “ Bountygate was where bonuses were paid out for injuring opposing players. One way of looking at this is this is “karma. “

There is some bad writing in that article. I think they actually meant the Rams player who committed the penalty was blatant and intentional, not that the officials intentionally missed calling it.
And yeah New England fans will rejoice on the day that bum Goodell is kicked to the curb.

I'm not so sure on that August. I watched both Championship games and there were bad calls in both games. There was a referee official in the booth in both games and they said they were bad calls as well. I will point out 1 in each Championship game. There were more.
In the AFC Championship game, a KC Chief player was called for a 15 yard personal foul and automatic first down in roughing Tom Brady. Brady still had the ball and that play should not have been called as Brady was a legitimate target and the defensive player was going for a sack. It was said he hit Brady in the head which on replay, didn't happen, at least to the extreme that he was called.
In the NFC game, a Saints defensive back was called for interference and the ball was placed at the spot of the foul and an automatic first down. There was no interference, just a great defensive play by the Saints to break up a pass reception. I'm thinking that moved the ball 20 yards on that penalty but I could be wrong. That placed the ball for the Rams to where they eventually scored.
That's just 2 that the referee Official in the booth said should not have been called. If the referee's on the field had the same access to the replay's as the announcer's and Chief Referee in the booth, then why were these penalties called ? I think they were intentional , August. Everyone I know who watched those games agreed that they were bad calls and in the Saints / Rams game, Goodell admitted to that was as well. I also saw a face mask grab that wasn't called for a penalty in the Saints game as well.
That being said, I think we can all agree Goodell is ruining NFL Football and needs to go.

Okay that's the last straw ... the fans need to be in charge like in the old Rome arena days with the officials looking towards the owners boxes and asking for their opinion with a thumbs up or thumbs down.

The Rams CB actually admitted he was going for the PI the whole time as he wanted to make sure he didn't give up a TD. That makes the no-call even worse!
And yeah New England fans will rejoice on the day that bum Goodell is kicked to the curb.
And Saints fans will have a parade, and declare a state holiday.

I see human error and a reluctance to admit being wrong but I don't see an intentional effort by the refs to control the outcome of the game.

I don't agree on that one August but it's all good. Regardless of the intent, it may well have cost another team a trip to the big dance. With regards to a replacement for Goodell being worse, I had never considered that but it's hard to Imagine someone being worse than Goodell.
It's interesting none of the respondents here like Goodell or have anything good to say about him.

I do agree that bad calls have a huge impact on games, which is a pity because I had bet on a Patriots Saints Superbowl and that blind ref cost me a lot of money. Somebody ought to buy that guy some glasses, maybe a coupon to an eye doctor. Seriously 50 even 20 years ago few of these would have been noticed or called but now there is instant replay footage, crystal clear and from many angles to show us exactly what happened and it's illustrating the limits of human refereeing
As for Goodell remember he was chosen by the owners and they could have replaced him long since if they felt like we do but they didn't so I don't hold out much hope for an improvement. I do hope I am wrong though for the games sake. One thing is the players need to get the final say in arbitration taken away from him or whoever the owners replace him with. It was a big mistake to negotiate that away and I hope the union corrects it when the contract is up for renewal.

I'm not so sure on that. I guess it depends on your perspective. The NFL doesn't concede anything to anyone. By settling the lawsuit, without admitting guilt in any way of course, I believe is a defeat for the NFL in and of itself.
By settling the lawsuit, the NFL concedes it was at least culpable in denying Kapernik meaningful employment. Regardless of one's personal feelings on Kapernik, what the NFL did was contrary to established law. I'm thinking title 7 of the Civil rights act signed into law in 1964.
