DEAR MODELERS, how do i get rid of this? [Archive]

Hey guys! im screwing about with submarine models again, and this problem i encountered many times before, i know how to reduce it (connect the said polygones with extra lines so the affected area gets smaller) but i have no idea to get completely rid of it.

Does anyone have the solution? i'm using 3DS MAX 2018

unweld the edges and weld the surfaces
