Problem with LSH

I am probably being thick, but.. a few months back I lost my games computer and so have had to reinstall my games on a different machine. Today I got around to putting the LSH3 mod on again - which had been working fine before, but today the mod goes on and all seems well, but I cannot get the LSH starter to point to the game folder and there is no shortcut on the taskbar. It says there is no copy of SH3 in the folder - and there isn't an sh3.exe, so that is right. It did find the Steam version, but that is vanilla, so that no good. What am I doing wrong? I have uninstalled and reinstalled the mod about three times, and yes, SH3 is a clean unplayed copy and the mod installed without any murmurings.... I did look in the manual.. I am hoping you will say 'oh! well you have to..' and then it will run... :)

Similar here but with ubi Uplay version, downloaded the game, fixed the folder name to get rid of spaces in names, LSH still complains that it's not valid sh3.exe file, but the sh3.exe is in the game DIR.
GWX installs without problems, but game crashes on load with certain flotillas or after some time of gameplay so it's too anoying to play, wanted to try LSH but can't install..

Any help will be much appreciated.:Kaleun_Cheers:

Create a new folder named SilentHunterIII, copy all the content of the SH3 from the Steam folder into that one and point that folder for LSH, it will work just fine to start the install .

You must run Windows 10 in compatibility mode Windows 7 otherwise your game is likely to crash before reaching the command room.
Run as administrators these application exe's, SH3, SH3Commander, JSGME.

Make sure your gpu is setup correctly as per installation instructions.

Right click on SH3commanderand select "pin to taskbar".
The game should always be started from SH3C.

I do not advise using the short cuts as they are not reliable, using SH3C from the taskbar is just as easy.

All those tips would be useful if I was able to install the game, but as I mentioned above, LSH installer claims that the sh3.exe in game dir is not a valid one so I'm not able to install it at all :(

What is your games installation path?
For example C:\Ubisoft\SHIII no spaces.

install dir for uplay games is set to c:\games\[gameName] but I moved sh3 to c:\SilentHunter3.

does the folder really have to be named exactly `SilentHunterIII` to make the install possible?

Well then I have no idea why it doesn't see the sh3.exe as a good one, have you tested LSH with Uplay sh3 version?
