Re organised main TWoS installer:
- Added to the main installer Sputterfish's automatic steam conversion tool which should finally make TWoS fully compatible with the (v1.2.0) Steam version of the game.
- Added Sputterfish's automatic config file generators for Generic File Patcher and Options File Editor/Viewer. It is not necessary anymore to manually edit any config files during the mod installation.
- Buit in JSGME application will from now contain only optional TWoS mods/add-ons while the main TWoS files will be extracted directly into "data" folder, reducing significantly possibility of user mistake and the duration of mod installation.
- Added set of optional mods and addons to the main TWoS installer, removed some of the less significant (I'll upload them per user request if neceserry).
- Resolution Patches are now named "Aspect Ratio Fix *x*" for better understanding and to keep them on top of the available optional mod list.

Do I have to set the difficulty for the campaign or mess with anything in the Gameplay settings in Options? Or does everything run as is without having to touch any settings? Or does touching these settings even effect anything?
Also, is it dangerous to load in autosaves? Im worried about file corruption.

You can customize Game Play Settings when you are in the bunker.
You need to make a manual game save and then load the game save so your changes are kept.
The campaign difficulty just presets the game play settings to the level of difficulty selected.
It is always preferable to make your own manual game saves rather than rely on auto saves which may be corrupted.

Thanks for this amazing Mod!
I just updated from 2216 to 2217 and noticed that the sub wake changed. I actually found that 2216 wake looked a bit better and am considering making myself a patch to reinstate the 2216 wake. I’m assuming I just need to overwrite a texture or two and perhaps and fx file. I wonder if someone could direct me to the right files to achieve this and thus shorten my trial and error process. Thanks in advance!

Being a total Luddite when it comes to computers, I was very pleased with myself as I finally managed to install this mod on a freshly bought Steam version of SH5........BUT...........The Steam purchase came with a product/game code, which I wrote down carefully.....
Now, I seem to have the mod installed correctly but it's asking for my access code. When I enter the one I got with the original download (and it's correct, I didn't make a mistake in writing it down or entering it) I just get an error message, telling me the code is wrong....So close to getting up and running. Can anyone help/advise, please.?

No, it is not normal. Do you use administrator user account on your PC? If not, log in as an administrator and try to reinstall the game again.

But okay, I have installed everything according to the manual but I can't seem to start the game. I open the game from my Silent Hunter 5 shortcut and Silent Hunter 5 starts to load but then Uplay opens and I get to a Silent Hunter 5 screen where the only button I can press is "Update" When I press Silent Hunter 5 starts to load again but seconds later, the load picture disappears and nothing happens.

And if I try to start the game from the KSD Commander screen, the game is just loading and loading without getting anywhere. If I close the Silent Hunter 5 loading window, I just get returned here.

Haha, thanks! I suddenly decided to download Silent Hunter 5 again and I remembered that there were some very good mods for it on subsim so I decided to see if there had been any updates.
Sadly, the game doesn't want to start for me, even without the mod installed. I don't know what I'm doing wrong so I uninstalled it again. Hopefully, it will work in 8 years again lol.

It seems that many perfectly functional mods no longer work with 2.2 (I just downloaded and installed it)
Have re-enabled those mods AFTER copying them to the TWoS_Parts folder and performing the upgrade, but they are taking no effect at all, even in a new campaign.
I know they're probably not the mods most are interested in, but I'm after a bit of fun, not uber-reality
Mods used: Critical Hits 1.1 torpedoes, 88mm Railgun
Any (non-judgemental and helpful) thoughts?

I installed WoS mod.
I followed the instructions.
I run SH5.exe as admin
I get this USER CHARTS box.
I can move it around but its blank, its annoying and its empty.
Im fairly sure it shouldnt be like that.
Im pretty sure its a problem with the NewUIs_TDC_7_4_2_TheDarkWraith mod as I have a seperate SH5 install with just that mod and it does the same thing
I get the same issue with NewUIs_TDC_7_5_0_TheDarkWraith too.
My PC is more than capable of running this.
Direct X is up to date.

I noticed that most of the other standalone mods are not compatible with TWoS 2.2, causing problems with gameplay (and even with in-game sound)...

Nope, next screen when you see darkened campaigns selection tree. Don't forget to save and reload the game when you enter the bunker.

I don't know if it is just me or not. I have found certain ships AOB calculations are accurate using RAOBF only and certain ships AOB calculations are accurate based on formulas provided in http://www.tvre.org/en/acquiring-torpedo-firing-data.
Distance is 99% spot on it is just the visible length and horizontal degree tics that's driving me crazy.
Sometimes the horizontal degree tics length used in RAOBF can generate accurate AOB but sometimes same degree tics length cannot and it may be accurate if use formulas to calculate.

Transfer reserve torpedoes while at sea. Would somebody care to explain?
I'm stopped, calm seas, ordered fore reserve torpedo to transfer to fore tubes. And its taking FOREVER! even on 256 speed its only at 94%

Transfer reserve torpedoes while at sea. Would somebody care to explain?
I'm stopped, calm seas, ordered fore reserve torpedo to transfer to fore tubes. And its taking FOREVER! even on 256 speed its only at 94%
You need to activate the Torpedoman ability to transfer external torpedoes either by talking to him or hotkey F12.

NOTE:
The PDF of the Installation Instructions on the first post of this thread does not mention replacing the SH5.exe with the DVD version for Uplay/Steam versions.
I was following those instructions. When I followed the instructions that are installed when the modpack is installed, then it started working for me.
I believe replacing the SH5.exe was what was making it not work for me.

Thank you for the mods and the installer.
I installed it and tried a new campagn. However i can't find my uboat on the map while at sea. I tried zoming in and out and some time while hovering the mouse on the map I get "your submarine" but no marking. I'm also unable to set course.
Did someon encounter the same issue?

Nevermind my previous question ! The position on map must be calculated by the navigator. Their is some scripts to activate regarding the calculation.
It is way more realistic than the stock game. I will need some time to get use to it.

You can disable real navigation addon anytime and use standard SH course plotting... :yep: That been said Real Nav addon is arguably one of the best mods ever created for any SH game. It a game changer...
Say is it possible to run into a ship that is not in the black ID book or that ID sheets that is in the "E" menue?
I start a new game after the game somehow gave me 2 extra ships/8000tons i did not sink, so i try replay poland and see if it happens again.
Now i have a freighter in front of me, 1 stack, composite, front and rear but no middle island, and quiet characteristic masts, 1 in front and one behind the superstructure... and i have been looking double and tripple through all parts of the ID book and the sheets and i can not find it.
- Are these smoke artifacts that flicker on the horizon sometimes, or that rare huge smoke wall, unfixable? I saw them in earlier TWoS version i was hopeing they are gone? I do use the less explosions more smoke optional mod if that make a difference.

When reverting to the SH5.exe which the instructions provided from the link, I am receiving a series of DLL errors.

The last sentence tells it all. All I would do is:
1.Uninstall your SH5
2. Run File Manager and remove any remaining SH files in the area you installed the program, as well as any SH5 entry you find under My Documents
3. Reboot your PC and run CCleaner including the Registry cleaning section. 4. Reboot again after this process is completed
5. Print out the Install instructions for SH5
6. Install SH5 anywhere EXCEPT under your "C:/Program Files/" folders
7. Highlight the install steps as you go through the install process step by step.
It is very easy to miss just one step and an unexpected error will sure to pop up. You only have to browse through these forums to read how others have had installation problems, until following the step by step install process.

If you do the update/installation of the new version of TWOS, you will automatically be asked to deactivate the mods (JSGME) and you only have the option to deactivate everything. After the installation you can activate everything again in your desired order. But I do not know, if JSGME start automatically too if the update is complete.

indeed, JSGME automatically verified whether any additional mods were in place. But I've deactivated them first, and then launched the update. Hope my savegames from 2.2.19 will be valid :)
I want to start with this mod at least looks awesome, unfortunately I haven't been able to play it yet. There is a black box in the upper left corner of the screen. there is now way to close it (it looks like map panel or something like that). Any ideas?

It also pays to go into Ubisoft Connect & shut down being online with it... as well as shutting off its ability to autoupdate SH5 as well... if you have issues with doing that step, then shut off updating anything you have through them, as a scorched earth approach...

One thing I am noticing is that on 4K displays you cannot read the prompts.

Easy to be solved. Right click on the program icon. Then select " Properties ". Then select the " Compatibility " tab. In the window that will open select the " Chamge high DPI settings " tab.
In the windows that will open put the check mark on " Override high DPI scaling behaviour. " and then from the cascade menu select " System " ( By default is set on " Application " instead ). Click " Ok/Aplly " and than restart the program. This works for any program that you may have difficulties reading the prompts/writings on a 4K monitor ( Win 10 only obviously )

I downloaded the 2.2 version of this mod.
I checked the 2.2mod.exe via Kaspersky. All clear.
I uninstalled SH5.
I deleted all SH5 files from the game.
I made a PC restart.
I connected with Ubisoft and downloaded the game.
I run the game once into the main menu and saw the current correct version.
Now the trouble starts:
When I double click as administrator or without on the 2.2.mod.exe,
I will get a blue screen crash after 1 minute of nothing happening.
Do I oversee something?
I never had a Blue Screen crash, but now twice.
Some dates of my PC:
Windows 7, 64 Bit, I run as administrator
i5 Intel 3.4 GHz
The thing is:
Once I had an earlier wolves of steel mod running, without problems.
So, after 3 years today I wanted to restart a campaign, but there my game was crashing, so I uninstalled all and downloaded the newest version of the mod.

I deleted all SH5 files from the game.
I made a PC restart.
I connected with Ubisoft and downloaded the game.
I run the game once into the main menu and saw the current correct version.
Now the trouble starts:
When I double click as administrator or without on the 2.2.mod.exe,
I will get a blue screen crash after 1 minute of nothing happening.
Do I oversee something?
I never had a Blue Screen crash, but now twice.
Some dates of my PC:
Windows 7, 64 Bit, I run as administrator
i5 Intel 3.4 GHz
The thing is:
Once I had an earlier wolves of steel mod running, without problems.
So, after 3 years today I wanted to restart a campaign, but there my game was crashing, so I uninstalled all and downloaded the newest version of the mod.

Uplay must be in offline mode when installing TWOS

=> ubisoft Connections want to rewrite files it thinks is corrupt
=> I cancel operation
=> off to play another game, like EU IV
so, should I let Ubisoft rewrite the files? I believe not. That would break the mod, right?

something is wrong with your SH5 version or TWOS installation, because after launching SH5.exe there should be no Ubisoft's attempts to rewrite anything...

I´ve been playing UBOAT and enjoying it very much. However, after some 5 years or so, I´d like to go back to SH5. And, after soo many years, I have some questions:
1) I have both Steam and Ubisoft digital versions of the game. I´d rather play my games trough steam, but which one goes along better with TWOS?
2) I want to take it slow, so for now, no real navigation, I´d like to see contacts on the map when visually possible, and I´d like also to use crew torpedo solutions (I´m learning how to use TDC). Is that possible?

Hi Bera,
Steam is better IMO since you wont have to manually replace sh5.exe. TWoS installer will do it for you for the Steam version.

That would be easy option in gameplay settings with disabled real nav addon in TWoS JSGME. Simple as that...:yep::salute:

The only bad thing that I remember is having a lot of crashes, most of them when using time compression (there was even a max setting recommended) and loading saves, is it still happening today? I have a pretty good machine, upgraded it six months ago...

with Twos you shouldn't have many crashes unless you add mods that shouldn't be added

Hi, I downloaded the recent mod because of frustrations with the original game play. However is their some way I can edit something in reference to the damage page as they are in german. I get german ship german descriptions but if someone can point me in the right direction would be appreciated. I have fixed the the german voices to english from threads on this issue, but havent seen anything to point me in the right direction to fix this issue. I am new to this game even though owning for some time but stop playing for some years and thought I give it another go. Moreover, I do like the mod.

Last official version of TWoS is v2.2.24. If a newer one exist, than Vecko doesn't released it.

Hello, I just downloaded the TWoS mod, and I am trying to enable the exterior follow camera. I enabled it by re enabling Cmd 50, and 51 in the Command CFG to try to do so, it works, but it mucks up the rest of the captain views when trying to go back to first person. Here is the line of code I put in, simply just deleted the ; before Key0. Any help here in getting the follow cam to work? I know it's not "realistic", but I always enjoyed watching my sub from afar, while putting back a few brews.

I have noticed twice now that antisubmarine nets are floating in space.
The first was when I raided Scapa Flow. This is near Bergen.

Also, how do I adjust the accuracy of the WO range reporting? It is too sloppy right now. I know this was nerfed for realism but I am playing no map updates so I want more accuracy until I get the hang of range estimation myself.

Are you using some other mods? I made some raids in Scapa and never see this. Also, now I´m in the Arctic campaign and in Bergen as base, never see this...:hmmm:

You'll find it in data/applications/OptionsFileEditorViewer folder inside your silent hunter 5 folder.

Heya folks, got TWoS running with encrypted BdU orders, and the enigma machine is in the game. However, I'm not receiving encrypted orders when starting a new game. It's just the standard SH messages.
As I said I started a new game after installing the addon, anything else I'm missing?

I think It was "Eastern British Coastal", I was told to Reposition and continue operation at AN5898. So, I was staying there for 24-48 hours and found lot of contacts. I sent contacts through radio and sent my position too.
Later I receive radio message that, Bdu will send more submarines in my area and told me to keep undetected.
Wow! I felt like I was actually in the war and did the contribution. You see how the game is dynamic, I really impressed with the creation and the team who worked on the "The Wolves of Steel v2.2" did really a good job on that.
If they can create such a dynamic game play, why now a days can't?. It's really sad that not many game industry create games as creation but pure money hunting. I am happy to play your mod. Thank you 1000 times, apart all my sorrowfulness and problems in my life, this gave me a little happy spark.
