I have uploaded new TWoS v2.2 installer to be tested primarily with the Steam version of the game.

Of course, comments of captains with regular version of the game are also welcome...:yep:

Installer works well. So far the only things I noticed was that the mods go in the TWoS_Parts folder and indeed the two missing mods rusted glory and the glass dials. But the installer works well and I am happy the jgsme editor as well as the tdw generic patcher work perfectly with it. Added several smaller mods to the folder (uniform mod for instance) and no problems

I use an already patched to v1.2 ISO version of the game.

Check if you have the SH5 folder as exception in your AV and Firewall.

Also check the "security" (securitá), of all files in SH5 folder. All should have rights of administrator, not only SH5.exe.

Verficare se tutto il folder "SH5" ha diritti di amministratore. Anche, verificare se tu hai eccezioni per tutti i files in SH5 folder, in firewall e antivirus.

Pare che TDW patch non puó soprascrivere alcuni files. Protetti contro scrittura?

Your problem also gave me an idea to include latest Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.1 web installer into the main TWoS package. It will not hurt to have it on board an hopefully problem like your will never repeat again...:yep:

The root folder is where the SH5.exe is . Where ever you installed the game .
Default Steam path is :

The black screen is normal, it can last at least 4 minutes :yep:
Don’t panic, be patient, TWOS mod is huge and computers needs time to load it.

If it was running fine with 2.2.5 version, you should deinstall SH5, delete your documents/SH5, clean up with Ccleaner, and re-install everything fresh with the full download 2.2.7 :yep:

You should never see "ubi loading" screen if the mod has been installed according instructions. I guess you've messed up something there...:yep:

Just to clarify, when I initially posted, had been up for a good while... so when I said in it, of seeing the Ubi load screen.. I misspoke... for that, my apologies... I was tired, upset & majorly frustrated... any way...

That said...

What is that expression about 3 times & all...?? I digress..

After deleting & ensuring that any & all files, folders, etc. associated with or for SH5 were indeed finito, CCleaner ran, I then proceeded to re go back through d/l & install of SH5, ran it, shut it down, then went through the install process of TWoS 2.2.7, I can finally say that I got it to run & work as it should... :)

3rd time around...

im having no luck with this at all. iv followed the steps in the pdf and so far nothing happens i still get the stock game. and to top it off i cant get it to run as admin nor check off the read only button. kinda at wits end with the damn game and mod.

Thanks a lot for this! Reading about the tWoS mod made me buy Silent Hunter 5.
I have played it a few days now and I must say I enjoy it. Though there are ofcourse still some bugs here and there. But nothing game breaking.

But I wonder if someone else has same graphical glitches like me: A few times I see some black smoke dots far away on the ocean. They disappear and re-appear sometimes.
It's somewhat immersive breaking for me.

I also wonders what the tWoS haven't fixed that I could get with a mod using the JSGME.

So I installed SH5 for the third time this week with the TWOS mod and latest update file. I followed all instructions very intensely. I was very happy to finally see it all work after battling to get it right. I played for about two hours, enjoyed the game and was very much looking forward to playing it again tonight.

Sadly when I got in and tried loading the game it failed. I then investigated the sh5.exe file to see steam had somehow decided to rename it and it was whited out. I restarted Steam which then proceeded to get a 500MB update.The game then loaded back up, initially with the TWOS graphic but without the black 5 min pause screen. Instead when the in-game menu appeared it was the standard menu.

So I am now re-installing for a 4th time. I have looked at all Steam options to try avoid any conflicts from within Steam itself.

I’m pretty eager to get this game to work with some stability as I would like to delve deeper into TWOS. So would really appreciate some solid advice.

One thing I did with my Steam SH5 install was immediately after I got it installed and let Steam do any updates, I copied all of the files inside the SH5 folder and pasted them into a new folder that I named "TWoS", since I was going to install the mod in that copy. I then added the SH5.exe to the Steam Start menu (and changed the shortcut's name to "TWoS") so that it would update its "license" via Steam when I played. I then did my TWoS install.

So I ended up with
"C:\Games / Steam / SteamApps / common / Silent Hunter 5 /"
and
"C:\Games / Steam / SteamApps / common / TWoS /"
both with identical files, until the TWoS installation is performed in the TWoS folder copy... :salute:

I’m going to make a copy of the Silent Hunter 5 Folder and rename it TWOS along with the sh5.exe in that specific folder which ill rename twos.exe. Hopefully that way steam can mess with the sh5.exe but won’t notice the other twos.exe in the other folder.

After reading other posts here on Subsim the developer of TWOS seems very helpful and has gone to extreme lengths to get this to work right, so I can only imagine it's an issue with Steam.

Well The_Hunter, I left the SH5.exe file alone. I renamed the short-cut for it on the Steam Start menu is all I re-named... what you're planning might work, although I'm not sure the Steam security will like it... :hmmm: :salute:

It appears that all along it was my antivirus software removing the sh5.exe file as it considered it a threat. I'm now going to re-install and remove the sh5.exe from my antivirus's hit list when it again flags up and see if that solves the issue.

BTW I did turn my anti virus and firewall off during the mod and update installations but it obviously detected it once the antivirus was reactivated.

Note to other people using Steam and possibly others. Once you re-activate your antivirus either remove sh5.exe from any future scans before or after its picked up as a virus.

Depending on your AV the problem might return especially if you have any updates.
The best solution is to open your firewall tab and make your SH5.exe an exception.

I run the Steam version of SH5 and TWoS 2.2.15 under AVG Internet Security with full anti-virus active and full firewall control on at all times. My Steam and SH5 installations are not installed on my main C:\ drive

Steam updates I have received only appear to be updates to the Steam application and not SH5, so the updates also have not affected my system, or the SH5 installation. :up:

I think my issue is solved now. I simply opened the file with Insight and asked it to trust sh5.exe and its all working.

I’ve installed SH5 on my steam deck, finally got past the uplay issue and have updated it to v1.2. The installer worked fine, but I am stuck on the TDW generic patch. I get error messages and am never able to see the mods. Doing some searching it looks like the patcher doesn’t work with steam? If so, then how would this TWOS installer ever be good for a steam copy?

I feel like I’m missing something.

Install TWoS and you will have an Steam patch.

Wonder if it’s a Linux thing then…

I can’t get the mod working. I hit a dead end at the TDW generic mod portion. Errors, and I can’t ever find the 9 patches.
