I had a bit of a strange occurrence recently. On the way way out from a seal team insertion I had 3 encounters with enemy forces in a row as I left the Murmansk area.
The first encounter was with a large surface ASW patrol and I was able to evade detection and open up enough distance to end the encounter.
The next encounter was with a pair of Krivak's, I was lucky to shoot them both quickly with 2 of my 3 mk48's and move on.
The last encounter was with 2 Victors and an Alfa. At this point I was concerned because I knew I was going to have a hard time escaping with out engaging them and that 1 torp and 1 moss for 3 capable subs was a bad way to start an engagement.
I killed the closest Victor in the first exchange and sent my Moss off to divert the incoming torpedoes. I made a run for it at flank and evaded all the torpedo's sent my way, but the Alfa knew where I was and was closing on me. I slowed the boat down and rigged for silent to see if he would keep driving at flank past me. After losing contact with me he also slowed down to the point where he was cruising along at 8kts looking for me. I dropped down to 1kt, got above the layer and crossed my fingers. The Alfa was on course to pass behind me at about 1.5k/yrds. He was directly behind me and heading 90* off my course when he went active and shot 3 torpedoes at me. I managed to dodge them and lead them back towards the Alfa. I passed close enough to them to cause 2 of the 3 torpedoes to hit the Alfa but the last one got me just after I had passed over him. This left me with a -1% hull integrity and my boat at a 45* angle in the water in about 400ft of water.
The hud had disappeared and I knew I was dead. Disappointed I hit escape to exit out of the encounter and was surprised to see a "Leave Combat" option. I clicked it and was able to limp my ghost ship back to Holy Loch for repairs without further incident.
Has anyone else had a dead boat come back to life and continue their campaign?
