Silent hunter 3 GWX trouble

Hi, first time poster but i've played quite a bit of Silent hunter 3 and I love it to bits but there is a problem: when I try to install the Grey Wolves Expansion mod it says that my Silent Hunter 3 is modded even though its a clean install.
I bought silent hunter 3 on steam.
other than that it runs like a beauty.
please help me!

Try completly uninstall sh 3 then unninstalled run ccleaner and then install

after the install I get application load error 2:0000065558 as an error which prevents me from loading the game.
FIX: messed up by accidentally enabling mods before starting it. also left it in my steam folder
