Hello everyone,
as i completed few patrols playing RSRDC_TMO_V502 i noticed a strange thing.
Even when the enemy plane was burning after taking hits, it somehow didn't crashed and later returned to attack my submarine (but the fire was magically extinguished). In TMO 2.5 readme the author stated that "the enemy planes will be harder to shot down".
I played earlier the Il-2 1946 Sturmovik and its Pacific Fighters expansion and every time i saw a Japanese plane in big flames it either explodes after a while or simply crashed into the ocean. This game is a realistic WWII plane simulator if anyone ask me . According to WWII pilots and real guncam footage most Japanese planes were unarmored and relatively easy to shot down especially when hit on unprotected fuel tanks.
I understand, that maybe big floatplanes were hard to destroy, but not a Japanese Zero. My AA gun crew wasted hundreds of shots, but the plane was still operational. Not to mention, that the 20 mm or 40 mm round is a explosive shell type.
Maybe there is a file that i could edit, to lower the "hitpoints" of Japanese planes?
I know already where i could increase the damage done by shells (Shells.zon file).
Thank You in advance for reply!
Best wishes
Jakub

hitpoints were raised in TMO. .zon files contain hitpoints.

Hello Bubblehead1980,
thank You for the reply.
I will look into *.zon files of Japanese planes.
EDIT: I edited the *.zon files of Japanese planes according to stock SH4 values. I will play career to see the results.

You might also look at the ammunition selected for the AA gun.
Going to the gun station will show you the quantity and type of ammo loaded. If you can select something other than the AA ammo, such as the HE ammo, the range is greater as is the damage, at least in the FOTARS mod.

Hello,
to be honest, most of the time i order the crew to man the AA guns, so i don't know which ammo type they prefer.
However, after i lowered the hitpoints of enemy planes to a more realistic value i noticed some changes. I was able to shoot down few F1 Pete using my twin 20 mm Oerlikon. Earlier that was nearly impossible, due to their high number of hitpoints.

I do not want to say anything bad now ...
But - if you had played IL2 properly at 100 Pro Realism online internationally in Dogfight, these claims would be extremely funny.
For ground targets (aka submarine), it is extremely difficult to attack a target with its AA weapons, approaching nearly 700 km / h and spewing fire and spoil from its 20mm cannon. :03:

I only talked about unrealistically high hitpoints for Japanese planes in TMO 2.5.
Most Japanese planes were unarmored and without self sealing fuel tanks.
If you dont believe me ask WW II veterans or watch some guncam footage.
Aiming accurately at fast moving target is another story.

You're wrong, the hit points are actually too low.
The problem is rather the scatter of the AA team.
Have you ever heard of shooting with premonition and practiced?
