I've done the final mission countless times, and I can never seem to find the typhoon. Can anyone help me? I've tried cavitating and going active to attract attention, but i've still yet to find it.

try to find a gap between the surface escort to slip through or as close as possible the Typhoon usually hides behind them. It will turn 180 and run once you're detected so try to close towards the initial contact bearing without being detected and once you pick it up, change course to get a faster TMA, don't wait for the solid solution, I shoot a spread of 2-3 MK 48s down that bearing, just set the activation point pass the escort and they should get him. It's tough and requires a bit of luck.

I beat that mission by detecting the two escort subs. I snapshotted both of them and sent a MOSS in their general direction. I then turned away and waited for about 4 mins. I heard three explosions I hit both the escorts and the Typhoon was also sunk.
I dont know if I just got luck and hit it or if the escorts fired tops at my Moss active and they came back and hit them but it worked. v:salute:

The Typhoon won't react to your making noise. Actually, the SOP for boomers when near an opponent is to shut down the reactor and switch to batteries and just drift away quietly while others gang up on you. Even with studying, I have RARELY seen that tactic mentioned, but they just up and disappear.
Could go active on them, but that brings the boomers buddies closer.
I wish there was more of an intel picture as to direction of travel so I can sprint ahead. No matter what with the Soviets, the boomer will be centered to start. If there is a problem, they will putz along and the diesel boats will drop back to form a barrier.
Good initial TMA on all targets is good at the beginning to get something of a layout.
