Hello!

We are back after a few months of work.

At the beginning we wanted to apologize that we are not able to directly answer all your questions sent by e-mails, social media and other ways. We are always trying to be available personally here to you, our backers, in the comments section and subsim.com, while we had to ask PlayWay for help with other communication channels. It's under their jurisdiction for some time and we hope that it works well in most cases :)

Let's get straight to the business though and discuss new features that appeared recently in UBOOT. We've focused on the life on the boat, crew management, skills, character customization and many more.

In the "classes" you have "soldier" wouldn't "sailor" be better?

We would use some help here actually. "Sailor" won't fit as this class name.

Characters specialized in that class are effective in solving tough situations with force and are very effective in external sabotage operations.

What do you mean won't fit (do you mean the number of letters or that they are fighters). If they are about sabotage they could be "Kommando" or "Commando" as that was the name of the german naval saboteurs. Actually they were Kampfschwimmer which is naval commandos.

I can think up and find names all day.

He's right, commando would be better than soldier.

YEAAAAAA Neal noticed me.

On a serious side years ago I helped with mod work (you can see some of my old forum posts) if you need little things done I would be more than happy to assist. (I can not code though). Just shoot me an email you should have it from the donation page. OOps just noticed posts pre 2006 are not saved.

Very impressed with what I have seen so far. This was the best movie yet, and the sailor going insane was nice and creepy! Loved the little bit about burned scrambled eggs. :D

I am obsessed with WWII merchant ships and I was SO happy to see new ones aside from the Liberty Ship....the "Rio de Janeiro" cargo ship and the oil tanker are excellent! I have an eye for ship proportions & styling ...those are exactly the kinds of ships that would have been built between WWI and WWII.

I wonder how many different types of cargo ships are there going to be? Maybe some ships in camoflage, and others with neutrality marks on the hull? Also, if there will be huge convoy battles, with 30-50 merchants plus 6-12 escorts, and maybe a carrier hunter/killer group? Every U-Boat fan is fascinated by the big convoy battles like HX-229, SC-26, etc; it would be great to see full size convoys once development is farther along.

Will there be different cargoes on deck & inside the ships, plus maybe non-player crew on damaged ships fighting fires/lowering lifeboats, panicking, etc? Everyone knows how much the "Ghost Ships" from SH3 were improved with the lifeboat mods.

This game could be one of the great games if it is not scripted too tight, it all depends on the replayability of a campaign, thats what keeps me still playing sh3 with mods. Now sh5 has been modded up that keeps me going back to it as well. Can this game be one of the greats ??

That's another thing I'd like to see....completely random encounters. With convoys of different sizes (usually 15-60 ships) with different protection. Not scripted gameplay, where you always see the same ships at the same place.

What I loved about "Aces of the Deep" and "Silent Hunter 3/4/5" was how sometimes you would see a huge convoy in a certain area....on another mission, you might find nothing. Or just a single ship.

Obviously, in 1939 a convoy may just have 1-2 destroyers, or an armed merchant cruiser.

By 1945, a convoy might have half a dozen escorts, and a Light Carrier Hunter/Killer group nearby, making it very dangerous for the player.

These sorts of differences keep you coming back to play the game.

Just to know:

Is it possible to play in real time? No time compression used i.e. just going from point A to point B (many hours here...)

Can't wait to play this, but would love to wait to let them do a great job on it. It's looking amazing and glad I backed it! Keep it up and keep us informed!

:Kaleun_Salute: I would not loose touch with them, Playway had a kick start page on steam for a special Auto mechanic game on steam that could do MP. And that kick starter page was dogged so bad, by the 2014 mechanic sim community at the time, they canceled it. First time I saw this kick starter page was in the Silent Hunter 3 community on steam, and it was dogged practically by everyone. Now I can not find the page there to bump it back up..
