So, let's begin the adventure ! :arrgh!:
What is ready so far (just about the unit) :

UPDATES :
Next goals (w. i. p.) :
- to correct the appearance (size and shape) of the 5inch AA guns.
- (if possible, i need the 3D models) to add new detailed crew (officers) on the bridges.
- to add navigation devices.
- to check the navigation behaviour of the ship (acceleration, turn).
- to add an "iron sight" with a strong zoom, some marks to help for accurate fire depending on speed/distance of the target, and a high distance scale (30 km) for the playable 18inch gun.
- (if possible) to improve the forward hull aspect with detailed plans (not easy to do, I would need some sections plans).
- to create some single and multiplayer missions with this playable Yamato of course !

Isn't this the yamato model from IJNWSM2.0 for silent hunter 3? it's a rare mod with playable japanese ships. It can't be found but i still have it downloaded if anyone want models from it, there nice.

About the guns' interface, I don't know if it wouldn't be better to give access to manual (player) fire only for the AA guns, as it will be difficult to fire on targets that are + 25 km away without the help of range finders ... :D

Here are some (not very well) remodelled lookouts, and optics from the destroyer Le Fantasque (the_frog's creation) to have an idea about the scale.
My final goal is to fit all the decks with navigation devices. I think the_frog is an expert in doing this. So, I'm kindly asking to him if he wants to help me in that matter ? That would be fantastic ! :yep:

Yeah, not bad. The characters seem a bit tall ... :hmmm: Mine on the pic above are 1,8 meters ! Ah, maybe this is because I might have changed the height of the floor (don't remember). But now the command room has a higher ceiling.
I think the speed dial should be changed to show the max speed : 27 kts.

I remember now ! I leveled up the floor. So your characters are ... twice too much tall !
Let's put them in the boiler room as clandestine passengers ! (this is a Japanese ship by the way !)

Hello Kendras,
consider to use a texture with the those French binoculars you placed on the roof of the compass platform. Note, Yamato had the binoculars not on roof of the compass platform but inside (see the picture you posted).
I did several years ago a small facelift to the NBB_Yamato and I am happy with that. I rarely join the Monsoon operation, and so, I do not have much opportunities to meet those juggernauts. Well, I am not so sad about that; I think the Yamatos are among the most gracelss ships ever built :yep:
Also, I am not interested in playable ships. I am happy with submarines :salute:

I adjusted the colours of the texture and some positions of some 3D objects, did a texture re-mapping of the horizontal surface (less wood, more steel), and tried to create a more complete AA loadout (including some adjustments in the *.sim file).

The underwater body of the hull, especially aft, is not well modelled (=wrong). I didn't touch that ...

I'm searching for new models of 5 inch AA guns. Could you lend them for my mod ? :) I'm not skilled to create them myself. :oops:

I resized the 5 inch AA gun with the shield at 150 % of yours. Then, I remodelled the whole thing. I have one little problem : I need to change the connection of some vertices, but I don't know how to do, and the model needs to be a little remapped with the texture.

Ah ! I've found the mod on Maik's server.
Well, I'm very disappointed ! :(
All the textures and 3D models (battleship and guns) are even WORSE than BEFORE I started to improve the things ! :nope: IMHO, my work is far better and accurate.
I'm not insulting anyone, just saying what I think about a precise mod. Sure, Chinese U-47 must be a talented guy, and I thank him to have done so much work. But his work about this precise ship is definitely not at all for my taste.
Now, if you don't want to continue this mod, well, I think I will be able to do it alone. I only have to understand how to build a playable surface ship.
For now, I will just release the ship as AI ship, when improvments about guns and crew are finished.

Yes, I know. But the hull has been reworked at the front part (and I don't like how it looks now), the textures are ugly, some guns have been removed, the guns 3D models are also bad, etc. etc. I don't see what you prefer in this mod compared to mine ?

About the playable 18inch gun, can you make the second (middle) turret playable ?
Could you send me the files by PM only ? I have made other modifications/improvments in the .dat and .sim files and I would not like to release the ship before these improvments are done. Of course, full credits will be given for your job.

Try as IXD2. If there is no problem we can change into an V++ or IX+ but not into a II+

My first questions :
- can we choose what gun is playable on the ship ? (ex : I would like to play the second main turret and the first 6inch triple turret) (and I would like to play two 25mm turrets (one on each board) and not the 5in turret)
- also, can we have more than one main gun (node M01) ? it's hard to shoot with the 6 inch triple turret without any iron sight !
- how to put starshells on the 5in guns ?
- did you change any guns nodes (.dat or .sim file) ?

Guns: as you can see there is a new "yamato_guns.dat/zon";.
Same modifications also in Ixd2 node guns.

How does the game recognize that this is the first 18inch turret which is playable ? All 18inch turrets have the same name in IXD2.dat (=M01)....
No. Just one M1 (but 6.1 is a Sgun so we can have 6.1 and also 18inch)
The problem is that it's impossible to be accurate without an ironsight on the 6in turret. So, my idea is to make the 6in the main playable gun. Long distance fire is too hard without specific optic devices, so let the AI fire with the 18inch turrets.

If you open the dat file of the yamato guns, in library folder, you can see that inside aa guns there is a 'soclu' that is referred to an other gun. Do you have this gun in guns.dat?

OK. I re-installed SH3 and the problem is solved.
Now, I don't understand why the 5in AA gun without shield and the 25mm gun without shield are not playable ... ?

Another problem ! No ammunition at start of mission in the 25mm turret gun ... I changed the basic.cfg but then I set your parameters again, but I've probably missed something ... but what ? :hmmm:
