Hello,

I would like to convert these ships from SH5 to SH3, because they are very common in game and very bad modeled in SH3 :

- the standard armed trawler : http://p3dm.ru/files/4492_armed-trawler-.html
- the flower corvette : http://p3dm.ru/files/4398_flower-corvette-.html
- the clemson destroyer : http://p3dm.ru/files/4386_clemson-destroyer-.html

So, I'm waiting for someone who is able to put these models into .dat files, this is the only thing I'm not able to do ....

Flower class corvettes are allready converted by Rowie58 and available at SH3 Mod depository under SHV ships V2. The Flower Class Mod is basis for a Mod I have been working on ( on a break to complete Type IIb playable and Rewoked AI S-Boot by Mikhail update, and Project 1124/25 Armored Gunboats ) for 6 months. Flower Class Platinum Edition The Cruel Sea Mod. A complete rework of the Flowers of the RN and RCN, All variations from early 1940 version to improved extended forcastles. I should start a WIP thread to show what is coming.

This is after four months extensive rework of the SHV Version Ported to SH3 with credits to Rowie58, Alex, and The_Frog. Who agreed the Textures are just Half way to what they should be. After super detailing and finishing the Early short forecastle and closed bridge 1940 version. I will do the RCN version. Somehow I need to get Textures fixed for Western Approaches ( This one ) A Real arcticized version ( upgunned no Splinter mats like above ) an Upgunned MED version heavy splinter mats and an extra Pom Pom Platform. etc. To get all variances in takes effort in equipment files and/or date files for SH3 Commander and Library files to house unique fittings and features and refit changes. adding these pics here instead of a new WIP thread is because I'm on a break from this ship. and working on 4 other Mods.

I have a suggestion : could you change the lateral inclination of the ship ? The bow looks too much sunk into the water. The model should be turn 1,5° on the X axis.

I guess that it will be necessary to rework a bit the UV map after that. About the texture, could it be possible to add a mask of the metallic slabs of the hull ? Like on this drawing :

I have made several not promising but not abandoned extruded hull plates as you mentioned. I'm holding off until I rework the portholes to have the "eyebrows". Simple enough to give the x axis change. The Flowers were ballasted aft and had a deeper draught at the aft than fore keel. That was changed in the improved flower long F'csl'e. But that doesn't change how they sat in the water. I'll test that today. What I found out and changed either in the conversion or in SHV itself the flower corvette was 3 meters too short. But not overall length. The "cruiser stern" was cut off. I had to resize the sterns length to make up the shortfall. The width is off by under 1-2cm so I left it as acceptable. The Stern I did as early Flowers both RN and RCN had minesweeping gear. And the correct RCN version will have "Offset" Mark II DC racks and a squared off stern. RCN versions will have the relocation of the Galley, and Pom-Pom Platform. And the Flagstaff off the Stern. I have alot of work left in detailing. Deck fittings and fixtures ( drains, plugs, vents, pumps, Fire fighting equipment, tools, and axes and the supports that ring the main deck ) i have to finish the bridge, chocks for MKVII Depth Charge and Arbor. Chocks for 4 inch shells that ring the 4 inch Platform. And whatever else I can think of. In the U-Boat war being attacked by a Flower was more than just by chance, it was the reality. Every Escort Group had 6 Flower Class Corvettes and only two Destroyers. As the RNVR, and RCNVR crews got more experienced the tommies ****ting on ou heads grew more deadly.

Funny ( not really ) it has no effect! Gravity Center also! Have to Experiment more.

You have to change the inclination directly in a 3D software.

The new texturing is great !!!

Please provide a plain white texture with the finally version for additional painting efforts :D

I just checked the position of the SH5 model in Wings3D and compared it with plans, drawing, photographs etc.. My conclusion: the positioning is correct. The version of the Flower as shown in SH5 had very little sheer forward.

If 0, then it is taken from the object's global position )
@The_Frog Thank You Sir!!! I saw this Thread and decided to show a little where I was on a before mentioned thread on the reworked Flower Class Corvette. I could not look at the Ship without seeing it closer to my vision ( Box Art from Revell 1/72 Scale Flower Class Corvette Platinum Edition ). Although these Textures are meant to "Help" Screenshots I never intended them as "Permanent" as they are Default NCO_Flower (as found in GWX 3.0 ). My intentions are to ask for help, serious help in the Texture Department as this is my weakest, novice area. I see your amazing A-Z Class destroyers, and Warships of all Types a Level I cannot attain anytime soon!!!

When I was adjusting these parameters, the first attempt the bow was underwater! Same inclination as all the flower class corvette plans I own on my PC. But in game To Far!!

CORRECTION :


.Dat The Node for NCO_FlowerMOD = Y Translation = 0.015, X Rotation = 0.005. : this changes nothing, you can set 0 for all, the result is the same.

The only thing that will change the inclination on X axis is to change it in Wings 3D.

Debug, Params = False, GC = True (you can set "False"), SD = True (you can set "False"),

mass = 940
gc_height = I advise you to set half the value of the surfaced draught. If less, the ship will be more stable . If higher, the ship is more likely to capsize when sinking.
fr_ratio = 0.5

Surfaced :
- displacement = 940
- draught = 0 : if you set a number here, you can control precisely the height of the hull in the water.

Submerged :
- displacement=0
- draught = 0. or something higher than surfaced draught. Not sure, but I think that the ship will sink only if her hull is deeper than this value ...

Ohoh, I see the point ...

... and it cannot be solved in a truely easy way. Turning the entire model along the X-axis bei -2 degrees will achieve the desired position but the texturing, especially the postion of the waterline will be wrong. That means, the hull needs to be re-mapped to new textures.

I will post some more screenshots soon. In a better beta test environment ( not Arctic with 7mps winds ) to show that I got the Flower to sit in the water better, and to show texturing efforts. I need time to focus on this, ( beta testing ) Stay Tuned.

I think it would be much more easy to modify the 3D model. You just have to put the vertices on the water level. And the texture will be correct.

...not really ... moving vertices without re-mapping will make the texturing look distorted. Also, it is not just moving vertices up and down, they need to be re-adjusted for correct appearance of the hull form.

@ The_Frog Is True Dragging vertices would leave bad results. I have been using textures for a different 3D Model. To even get few distortions by doing this I am Lucky, but not happy at using an inferior method ( not new textures unique to the Model in 3D ) as an alternative to the textures as Imported into SHIII. Not to worry, all in time will be made right. I believe it was iambecomelife that made many textures for the original NCO_Flower, and at some point I will approach the question of all new textures for the multiple versions of the Flower Class Corvette, RN and RCN ( if he/others are willing ) Western Approaches, Arctic, and The Mediterranean/Gibralter. Yesterday I was rebuilding the cos, all day. ( Funnel ) consolidating added parts and details and creating new Fore and Back stays, and finishing the Tall Galley Vent, and the Depth Charge Stern Hatches. ( I all most added the rivets but stopped short as if I add rivets to the Stern DC Hatches then I would rivet the whole ship! ). Today if I have time I will be adding the missing Catarg ( Mast ) Fore and Back stays which are numerous ( 11 ). I have also been consolidating Nodes that were for Beta Testing to one Node for all Fittings and Fixtures, Handrails and Portholes. This consolidation is for ease of importation into Wings 3D and the Rotation of the X axis as a whole model. I am not worried about re-mapping so much as I have had the same Plans for K80 for 6 months and use it for my image plane in Wings 3D, and reference to the Parts I need. I have a folder of images also which help me make decisions on whats was on board. I will add more screenshots soon as I change things. i need to fix the splinter mats! They are too small! I need a Fire Axe x2 ! I need to Make 3" Canvas Fire Hose in a Housing! Name Placards for the engine room casing walls. Signal Flag Locker, 20mm gun ring mounts, twin-lewis gun shields. rebuild the 271 radar ( lighthouse ) it could at least be cylindrical, right? A few more parts like 4 inch shells, and their chocks that ring the 4 inch platform. Mark VII DC Chocks for the throwers ( they are just sitting on the deck ) Mark VII DC ( heavy ) chocks for the Mark II DC rails. Porthole Transfiguration will take time as I study the Pictures I have not liked the passed results I have made. ( more to come on Portholes later ) They will seal the deal on realism I want to get! ( I wanted a 1/72 Revell Flower Class Platinum Edition Model with Brass detail parts, but alas I no longer build models! )

As far as the Flower Class Corvette it progresses slowly because I'm working on 4 or 5 mods intended for release in 2017! I will start a WIP thread soon on the corvette.

The Flower Class Corvette is really more than one ship, and no two are alike so I had to chose which one will represent the Western Approaches, ( K80 ) Arctic, and Med. Same thing for the RCN versions. I like Corvettes ( not the car ) so it is like model building in my youth to really study details and drawings and experiment in making a lived aboard, hard working escort that I will gladly put an eel into. Just remember when this is released they are now hardcore hunters don't ignore their efforts they will sink you. Torpedo Depth Setting 3 meters or your torpedos will go right under. Note: Images will include a fraction of mods I am working on other than the Flower Class Corvette including, Supermarine Walrus MkI in Test Matte Gray Texture and final Texture. The Fairey Swordfish MkI Floatplane Variant. And the Playable Type IIb Early Version 1939-42. ( 1942-44 Black Sea Variant Nearly Complete with Wintergarten )
