Hi there,

I spent years on many SH revisions, was disappointed with SH5 and stupid DRM but when I read an article about best sub simulation ever, I've learnt about WoS and 2 days later, SH5 and WoS were on my hdd.

Thanks to wonderful tutorials, I went through many hurdles but I'm now facing an issue I've not found any solution for...

I'm in first campaign, first mission, smoke on the horizon and it looks like the polish convoy. Number 2 suggests that I should send report and radio operator seems to be convinced that there are no contact to report... I tried the send contact report command through operator directly and through number 2 on bridge but same result, the operator says nothing to report :wah:

I have Steam up to date version, TWoS 1.06 with update 3b, all cleanly installed as explained in tutorials - even steam workaround for patcher...

If anybody has any idea to prevent from restarting for the ...nth time the campaign, I'd be grateful!

Bon vent! And thanks.

Welcome cevrard!
Sometimes you have to be a bit closer to the contacts in order to successfully send contact report. That's how SH games work...First time you see "contact report ready" or "Should we send contact report" message in your message box, that means that the game/radioman has enough data to construct contact report. The report should only then been sent and message "Report sent" will be shown in your message box in 30 sec or so.

Possible causes for your problem could be that polish task forces are too far away or you are trying to report friendly TF which are also operating in the area...

In any case, you wont lose almost anything even if you don't send that report...
Happy hunting!

Thanks for the hints but I'm afraid I'm hitting something different...

I actually have the "should we send..." message in the box, and I'm getting close enough to see the polish flags so not sure I want to get any closer even with deck awash...

I suppose there nothing left to do than warming up torpedo. Periscope depth!

Bon vent.

Hi cevrard
Decks awash is treated almost as being submerged.
You will notice that some orders when at decks awash no longer light the officers icons.
WO will give you a verbal bearing to the contact but you will not see it in the message box.

Nicely spotted Peter...

Radio messages can not be sent if "submerged" icon is displayed. This includes deck awash depth too...

Hi Vecko
Its peculiar that you cannot send radio messages at decks awash and yet you can receive radio messages.
Your radio aerial is well clear of the surface water even at decks awash.
You can set the depth level that you can receive radio messages in the OFEV but no radio messages can be sent unless surfaced.
I suppose the reason for restricting what can be done at decks awash is to stop it being used excessively or continuously?

Hi Peter,
Yes, I realized this. Sorry if I was not clear but I wanted to say that I was still surfaced for this good reason, and wouldn't want to get any closer even with deck awash.
Nervermind, I may try to reload older saved game just in case, otherwise it will be time to see how rusted I am with TDC...

Bon vent!

I think that restriction is hard coded and it can not be edited...
