Hi Fellow Kaleuns,

I'm just looking for some..assistance with editing files in S3idtor. Namely for now the different Guns. I know yes it's cheap and cheasy but thats kind of how I roll lol. Anyway I figured out *where* and *what* Gun on my Sub I want to modify, and to an extent *some* of the features i.e Traverse & Shell Speed so that is good..HOWEVER. Let's say..just saying...I want my 10.5 Gun to oh, I don't know...have the same effect or Firepower as the Bismarcks Main Gun :o:har:

There seems to be a section for "effect" and theres like a hexidecimal clode like 0x7....etc. Would I Theoretically just copy/paste the effect "codeline" I guess I will call it *from* the 15' *Into* the 10.5? Thanks for any help :)

Hi! I know what ya talking about, ya need a tool for this...like http://s3d.skwas.com/ And if I don't mistake me so have ya already this.

Right, yeah. I do have that program. but im a little sketchy on how it works. I mean I was able to give my Deck Gun a 10-round 'clip' (im evil ok) but it appears i also edited the Ammo but it doesn't have any effect. And speaking of effect I want to change the power/damage of my deck gun. Was looking for maybe a step by step (if possible with screenshots) Thanks though

Well,in data/cfg/Basic/
Where it is possible to make the base settings such as more ammo to deck gun, or more ammo to flak gun and so on I.e, I'll try to get the image of this but probably later in the day when it comes to changes concerning the effect so is this data/Library/senors BE AWARE this can do changes in many ways in senor you can change sonar like,bold types and many other thing its huge data bas.I myself have 5 different boats, one of which is much mods in(and I have change the to very high effort) the same but also to realistic conditions such as gun platforms with higher fire rate as you have in, SH3 "stock" As you now understand, you have to be sure of what you do to make it work in the end, otherwise the game don't start, in time but I assist you happy "before you do something that you don't are sure about".

Gerald

For example, you can find in the library, shells data file, you can change the conditions if you want to switch 20mm to 37mm to your anti-aircraft guns,but ya need the right code for this.I have several years ago replaced the 20mm to 37mm on my flakguns guns, I would add that I know some people here that are made for this and I'll make sure to help ya with this in a simpler way and I, then I do not produce Mods, I making modifications within the scope of what is possible.

Allright well Im sorta kinda getting the hang of it but I guess I do have another question: Is it possible using S3D to alter or change available dates for Torpedos?

Mittelwaechter

Basic.cfg - in installation path - scroll down ~80% - torpedo date data

Flotilla.cfg - in intallation path - your desired flotilla - list what you want for the according year - stay with the used logic for the available torpedos

T0_200=60
T0_201=80
T2_200=15
T2_201=20

T0 is G7a - T2 is G7e (first version)
200=x defines min number of available torpedos offered in the bae for loadout (60)
200=y defines max number of available torpedos offered in the base for loadout (80)

So in the loadout screen you will see between 60 and 80 G7a's to be available for you to chose from - as between 15 and 20 G7e.

If you want to have between 4 and 10 Falke gnats offered at your base, you have to change the Basic.cfg data for the Falke to 1939 - and add them here to the torpedo block.

T4_200=4
T4_201=10

There might be a tool in the download section to do the trick for you - can't remember the name or modder.

There is a nice tool now.
Modder is Richi

As I understand it, Richi's tool just changes the inicial standard loadout per year/boat, accordingly to the available technology in the given year.

The actual question is: is there a tool that changes the availability of torpedos, i.e. to have a LUT in 1939 available?

Or does he have to do it manually as decribed above?

Jeff-Groves

Your probably right Mate.
I do have another program by Richi that does a lot more but I never played with it as it does not have an English option.
There is a flotilla button along with a lot of other neat stuff.
:hmmm:

I could upload it if you'd like to take a look.

Well - on one side I am interested in his solution of the problem, but on the other side I wouldn't use the tool. It's not that I never cheated the game, but if I'd wish to do so, I'd mod the files myself - just for fun.

But CaptainJon should be interested, I guess?

Spanish is not alien - and Google Translate is our friend if necessary.

CaptainJon

Yeah, I would be! The no-English thing might be a hassle tho :O Unless it can be translated--even if not perfectly so long as i get the basic understanding. Thanks! *salute*

^How, has it gone for you?

CaptainJon

I don't know. I must be doing something Wrong. I edited the dates in basic and flotilla...no new torpedos? Is it possible for you to throw up a quick Youtube step by step please and thanks? I dont get what I am doing wrong. That would be good.

http://abload.de/img/falke1940mmssl.jpg

Just modded my game to check my more and more defective memory :)

Falke in 1940 - available in the base - and two as standard loadout in the tubes.

The Falke is T5 - not T4. My bad - this SH3 mixed stipulation confuses me constatntly.

But all other provided instruction is correct.

Do you load any flotilla mod (i.e. GWX Alternative Flotillas)?

If so - you have to mod this modded file to have your changes to be loaded.

Same is true for the Basic.cfg.

I use Legend of Silent Hunter 3 if that's any help. But yeah, I made sutre it is T5 and the date is for prototype like January 1939 and i guess the "production" model? is like Febuary 1939. Heres what I did to my Flotilla.cfg maybe thats what I am doing wrong? Let me know if you can see this image:

No Google account available. No picture to be seen.

Upload your picture to Subsim you must - or any public pic hoster (i.e. abload.de) you shall use.

Never heard of 'Legend of Silent Hunter 3' mod - Google doesn't find it either.

You change two dates in Basic.cfg - let's use the Falke:

In your installation path: (C:\GAMES\)Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\Cfg\Basic. cfg

[TORPEDO_TYPE5];T IV (G7es) - Falke
Idx=5
Year=1940 ;1943
Month=7
PrototypeYear=1939 ;1942
PrototypeMonth=11
Renown=0

A prototype will be available in Nov. '39 and the Falke is a regular in your base stock from July '40. (Don't know if the prototype does do anything here).

The semicolon ; makes the game ignore the rest of the line - here the original dates

Now you edit your Flotilla.cfg

In your installation path again: (C:\GAMES\Ubisoft\)SilentHunterIII\data\Cfg\Flotil la.cfg

I'm with the 7th in St. Nazaire - so I modified

For any additional year you have to modify the related block of data.
You can't copy from 1939 to 1940 - as the data is different - the game logic expects different data for different years (T5_200 or T5_210).

You have to know, if your Legend Mod modifies the data originally kept in the installation path. If so - modify the modded files Basic.cfg and/or Flotilla.cfg.

Then start a new career - in August 1940 (you run SH3 Commander?) (nah! September 1940! The base moved in September!) - in St. Naz - with the 7th Flotilla - or whatever you have modded - and the Falke will show up in your regular base stock - for you to loadout it into your Uboat.

If you want to have the default loadout poppin' up with Falke torpedos in the tubes - you have to modify the Basic.cfg at a different location again - use Richi's Tool - or manually change your desired Uboat type.

For the Type VII C in the installation path (or modded path) Basic.cfg:

[SUBMARINE_AMMO3]; VIIC
Type=1
Version=1
ForeTubes=4
AftTubes=1
ForeResIntern=4
ForeResExtern=1

AftResIntern00=0
AftResExtern00=0
Z01_00=5 ; VIIC/1
M01_00=1
A01_00=8
...

to have two Falke torpedos in tube 2 and 3 - in 1939.

Modifiy the following blocks accordingly - for the other years of war. (Afair there were no Type VII C in 1939 and the game doesn't offer them - so modify the type VII B data for 1939 - if you want a Type VII)

Modify those files that are really loaded by the game (check your mods folder for the Basic.cfg and Flotilla.cfg and modify these) - and start a new career.

Edit: If you use JSGME or SH3 Commander - you have to understand what they do - and where to find the correct files to be loaded.
