I have updated the Unscratched optics, for large optics, to be compatible with TWOS update 13, have also included a new more authentic gun sight.

Mod is JSGME ready, just install file into Mods folder of JSGME and enable after all other Mods.

Discovered an original view through the Gun Sight of the 8.8cm/45 SK C/35 as fitted to the type VII U Boat, this Gun sight was also used for the 10.5cm/45 SK C/32 fitted to the type IX and type X U Boats.

this sight was able to be illuminated as shown in the right hand picture, so I decided to depict this sight as illuminated as shown below.

on the original gun the range was achieved via a range drum fitted to the gun cradle, as there is no way to manually select the range in game the range scale has been incorporated into the sight.

I am going to check this out! "Realism" in moderation is a good thing. Making the player squint through scratched lenses and at ridiculous magnifications is IMHO immoderate :)

As I asked in the main TWOS thread:

I love playing these things with high realism settings, and that "Real Navigation" thing is brilliant.

Except for one thing: I find the imposition of "realistic" magnification levels to be ridiculous. So, ideal for me would be: I play the game on maximum hard-core do your own trig realism, BUT with optics that are jacked up with max magnifications that are 2x or 3x more than what they presently offer.

When I have to get to ~1000 m on a bright sunny clear day to see that flag on that freighter is Finnish something is just not right . . .

Does this mod include any facility to adjust magnifications higher? If I open up the documents is it something I might be able to tweak on my own? I'm a C++ programmer so dealing with a bit of tech is doable.

Maybe I should find a "getting started modding SH5" how-to and make it myself?

This works great! Magnification doesn't seem to be any different, but it is a lot easier to spot stuff anyway.

Only problem is: I got double binocular vision.

Hi DicheBach, this is due to the Modification of 'TWoS' to use the Original Binocular view, I have made an update to 'Unscratched Optics for Large Optics' that will bring the Binocular view back to the round view used in this mod. this update can be found in the Downloads section as 'Unscratched Optics for Large Optics v1.5'.

Sweet! I guess I activated the wrong thing in JSGME. Will check that out.

Ah! Nope, looks like I had grabbed the 1.4 version. Easy to fix. THANKS!

ADDIT: Yep! all is well! My skipper no longer feels like he drank a bottle of schnappes when he uses his binoculars :yeah:

Thanks again for this mod; enhances gameplay tremendously!

Your periscope optics pictures look quite clear and clean where as mine with TWoS and your v15 look kind of scratched and dirty.

so i was thinking about a search light/signal light and if this came out of the periscope lens this would be brilliant any idea how to get this idea across and also for a torch light for your figure you could have a green glow aoura cause red lights stick out like brake lights and green matches the sea
