Unable to leave control room

I seem to be stuck in the control room. Clicking on the door to the engine room, or the ladder to the bridge does nothing. Can anyone shed any light on this?

How close are you getting?

For me, to go through the hatch to the engine room, it is just a matter of moving to the hatch with the W key and right mouse button, and I go right through. Rather slowly but I'm an old man.

For the bridge, when you get close to the ladder, the cursor turns to an arrow, just click.

Are you surfaced while trying to use the ladder? If not, that is probably why it dosen't work. The sub is at periscope depth when the game starts. Neal is right about the engine room hatch, you just walk throught it. Some other players have been confused by this as well, and we will look in to making it more clear :)
